Okay - I just read probably forty or so threads that a skim drew out as possibly related to what I'm wondering... I doubt I'm the first to ask about this, but I at least didn't see it in the first few pages.
So anyway - I just got my MGX today... First Aneros I've gotten... As soon as I got it out of the package, I washed it, read the little booklet with it, and gave it a try.
Now - between XTube videos, reviews, forum posts, marketing material, and - more than anything else - the fairly stern admonishments on the site against starting with bigger models (i.e. that they're for advanced users), I figured I was probbaly gonna be in for some fairly serious intensity with just the recommended MGX.
I'm not exactly a *complete* novice when it comes to anal play, or prostate play, for that matter. But I'd also certainly say I'm not any kind of old hand at it, so to speak.
The problem is - when I put this thing in, it was pretty much like nothing at all. There's an element of high expectations, sure, but I think I'd be conscious of myself just mentally downplaying a mild pressure because it doesn't match some fantasy. It's enough, though, that I was left wondering (obviously I couldn't reach in to actually feel) if the thing was even reaching/hitting my prostate at all. The same goes for the perineum tab. That part, I of course could feel, and while the diagram pictures explaining how it works show a pretty significant depression from it, it was exerting basically no pressure on my perineum. These things are both true even when I would clench as hard as I was able (which I'm sure is nothing compared to experienced users, but you'd think I'd get *something*, right?).
So, after all this talk, I guess my real question here is - am I missing something? Is it normal that, for instance, you have to go through some significant period of strengthening or something just to be able to squeeze hard enough to get the thing to even exert some pressure? Or maybe I shoudl've ignored the warnings and started with a bigger model. I did read one item in the FAQ referring to shorter users, but nothing about taller. I'm somewhat taller than average (6' even, and fairly large-framed). Would that have something to do with it? Such that I'd be better served by using a bigger model, that is...
I was able to generate a little bit of prostate pressure by standing up, clenching hard, and rocking my hips back and forth pretty far. But that only amounted to, at best, the pressure I could have generated with some mild middle finger stimulation, and there's no way I'd be willing, or probably able, to keep that rocking up for an hour or more at a time.
Also, I didn't really experience any movement either, although I did have significant lube. I got one of those syringes and some ID Glide along with the device, and put them to good use. But to get it to move in and out at all, I had to either bear down (push it out pretty hard) or just grab it and pull it out a little, and then of course clench back up. But that wasn't really worth much, considering it was pretty much missing the prostate when it got in there anyway, or at least so it seemed.
Anyway... I'm rambling on here. Long post, I know. TLDR. But hopefully someone here has both some time on their hands (to have made it through this whole thing) and some insight. I really wanna give this thing the old college try, because it's really an intriguing idea to me, but I wanna get started on the right track early, so I don't waste time, energy, or money.
Thanks for reading.
I got mine over a month ago and have only had a couple sessions where I felt something.
I didn't feel much at first with mine either.
Even now more than 6 months down the track I can only just detect it touching my prostate.
The P-Tab definitely hits me on target though. Especially when I get an erection and my perineum swells up a bit. It almost feels like someone is clamping down on the area like if they had a thumb in my rectum and a finger on my perineum and they made a pinching motion.

First of all you have to try and get rid of those high expectations, try to not have any expectations
at all because i had this problem and it only lead to frustration and dissapointment, this is what usually happens when we have high expectations of ourselves and others just for an example. So just forget about whatever expectations you might have and clear them from your mind.
Second of all try to focus your mind on your prostate prenium area concentrate and your energy on that area, try to build a picture in your mind of your prostate, i usually build a picture in my mind
of my progasm dancing around in my anus, just focus on any pleasurable sensations you end up getting and try and build onto them.
Third of all you have to be aroused, you wont get any sensations at all if you are not aroused, try watching some porn do whatever you usually do to get aroused, and once you are starting to become aroused insert your aneros into your anus focusing on what you are doing, when i watch something usually lesbians having sex or looking at girls in magazines when using my progasm i find this greatly helps to amplify my arousal then i try switch my focus to my prostate prenium area, so you should maybe try relaxing whilst doing whatever gets you aroused and try and focus on your prostate prenium area at the same time.
I hope this helps i am no expert tell me how it goes, and most important of all dont give up keep practicing, it might take a while for your body to start the re-wiring process, even though i have not reached a super O yet i have come close to it though, but even the milder multiple orgasms i can have is the most intense pleasurable sensation i have ever experienced in terms of sex and a lot of other things you wont find anything that's more intense trust me it is amazing and is well worth the wait and hard effort and work you wont regret it, maybe you will get lucky in a few months and have your first super O it varies from person to person it has taken me two years to get anywhere.
Having multiple orgasms makes me feel kind of like a woman because having multiple orgasms is
something that only women are supposed to be able to do, but for the grace someone discovered that men can have powerful multiple orgasms too, the aneros really is the holy grail, does anyone disagree.
Good Luck Cheers mate thecritta 😀 😯 😀 😀 lol
If you're still not having any forward progress after a few sessions, you might to try the Helix model, which has a more aggressive angle. That's the only model I have and I love it and have gotten a lot of orgasmic pleasure from it. Good luck!

Have you read all the wiki and "B's Keys to the Backdoor" thread?
Everyone is different, but first off I would stop trying to making something happen. It's not like masturbation were you can force it to happen. It is incredibly subtle and you must go with your body's flow. The Aneros is not like any other "sex toy" you have ever used, so you gotta throw that play book out the window.
Here are some suggestions (from my experience):
-Relax 20 minutes, during that time implement breathing exercises; slowly inhale 4 to 8 seconds, hold your breath for two or so seconds, then SLOWLY exhale 4 to 8 seconds. You don't necessary have to be sexually aroused. And if you reach a meditative state, all the better, letting go of expectations.
-Relax and concentration on the sensations in the anal area.
-After 20 minutes, keep doing the breathing, but when you hold your breath contract the anal sphincter very lightly for two or so seconds.
Something may happen or maybe not. It took me four months to feel anything.
Have you read much of the Wiki?
Have a look at this bit: http://wiki.malegspot.com/index.php?title=Getting_Started#Milestones
From that list, a couple that relate to your experience are:
- Identifiable contact with prostate
- Definite feeling of contact on prostate
- No longer believing that "...this model doesn't fit me..."
And since those are Milestones, it means that you might not have them at first.
You can take all that to mean that it's normal to not be able to identify the feeling of the aneros contacting your prostate at first, and to believe that "...this model doesn't fit me..."
That wiki article wasn't among the plethora of things I read before buying, but after skimming through it, it's largely pretty familiar information. The list you were pointing out is definitely a much more granular and explanatory one than I've seen, though.
From that list - as it is for me at the moment, just laying on my side and using the MGX as perscribed by the instructions, I found myself sitting at step 6, "Generally comfortable when inserted and relaxed," for a while, starting from the first moment I had it in.
The instructions specifically point out (in more than one place on the site, and in what came with it) not to apply manual pressure to the device, and to just let your sphincter do all of the work. But, in my boredom, I decided to go ahead and sit and look at some things while I did it. I figured that while that might not exactly match the perscribed usage, it was certainly going to be less intrusion than other things I've done, meaning worst case - no harm no foul.
I did have some success that way. In fact, I could say that by doing that, I transitioned smoothly - by which I mean incidentally not having missed a step in that list - to step 22, "General pleasure throughout session." Arguably, that is, of course, because given the way I was using it, that was anything but convincing that the model did fit me (step 19). If anything, it was a clear indicator that my guess was right, and the model just wasn't exerting enough pressure to have its intended effect.
I could also say that, glossing over the next handful of steps, I could claim I had the majority of them as well. The P-waves, I couldn't really speak to, because I don't think I'd know how to identify if I was actually having one, let alone many. Rocking producing pleasure, definitely, although that was to a large extent because the chair was pressing on it. Overall, a very good effect. I was using my fleshlight along with it. Before I put it in, I was coasting smoothly with the fleshlight. As soon as I put it in, I had to really make a serious conscious effort to stop myself from cumming (wanted to prolong the session - sort of "get some more time in"), which I could easily have done in seconds - not at all the usual case for me.
So - does any of this sound like evidence of anything? I'm coming back to my original question of "am I missing something here," because from everything I'm reading from you guys and the literature, it sounds like it's indicating that there's value in this process of starting from the point of not being able to detect it. And I do understand the concept completely. If you can get, with a previously imperceptible stimulus (e.g. MGX), to the point typically reached by a much more significant stimulus (e.g., let's say, a large dildo), then theoretically, when you move on to that already significant stimulus, it should just be totally ridiculous. But I guess my question is - can that result theoretically be still achieved just as well by taking a shortcut - in my case, moving straight to the progasm or something - so long as the time's still put in for the physical aspects. Or, is the whole thing more psychologically founded, meaning that doing that would pretty much short circuit the whole process?
Those milestones aren't necessarily an ordered list. You aren't expected to definitely hit each one in the order that they're listed.
Another important point from the Wiki is that if you're trying to make the journey towards Super-O, then you shouldn't be stimulating your penis during the session.
http://wiki.malegspot.com/index.php?title=Getting_Started#Things_to_avoid
As far as I can understand it, ther aneros can work in two ways.
The simple way is just as an enhancer to your usual sexual activity, such as sex, masturbation, fleshlight etc. In those situations it can add extra pleasure, and improve your orgasm, but you shouldn't expect Super-Os when using it in that fashion.
The other way to use it involves training your body to recognise and generate a new and subtle type of pleasure which can eventually lead to dry orgasms, full body orgasms, multipe and Super-Orgasms.
However, that's not a short journey, and it can take quite some time for your body to learn to about those sensations and how to generate them.
The first few sessions along that road may involve little or no noticable pleasurable feelings, but with patience and practice they should become better and better.
I myself have had an aneros since May 2008, and although I've experienced many of the interesting and pleasurable sensations mentioned on these forums and the wiki, I haven't had anything that was as intense as a traditional orgasm. I'm not disheartened though, and I'm enjoying the journey while knowing that in the future it is bound to get better and better.
Oh, I just saw something Brian posted in another topic but which seems quite relevant here too:
Long ago I likened the Aneros to a set of Tantric Training Wheels, the idea being that Aneros effectively lowers the bar on obtaining the MMO or Super O. Once one has become proficient in its use and has awakened their body in this way, it's possible to have powerful orgasms without the device, (by oneself or with a partner).
It should also be mentioned that the Aneros can be used right out of the box to optimize a traditional orgasm (ejaculation) alone or with a partner. Furthermore with regular use it promotes PC muscle tone so one can look forward to stronger erections and ejaculations.
