I’ve seen the phrase “calm seas” used a lot. I think I generally understand what it means, but I’m wondering if someone more experienced could explain it with some more detail. Additionally, what is the alternative/opposite of calm seas?

thanks.

@TigerWarrior, I would like to direct your attention to the Aneros WIKI Glossary definition -> "calm seas of orgasm A metaphor to describe where one is in a state of ongoing non-ejaculatory orgasms yet very relaxed at the same time, avoiding the usual muscular tension typically involved in high intensity arousal. Rather than vocalizing, thrusting, contracting or convulsing towards the orgasms, one gently keeps all muscles relaxed, letting the pleasure freely flow as if breathing it in and allowing the orgasms to come to you." This is an ineffable state of being like the whole Super-O experience, it will be unique for each individual yet there is this commonality of a serene, peaceful state of mind like lying on a raft in a calm ocean while basking in the warmth of a sunny clear day without a care in the world as a level of pleasure infuses your whole body in a warm glow. This type of Super-O is one aspect of the continuum of sensations one can describe as applying to the Super-O experience.

While I wouldn't characterize the more active, bordering on violent, muscle spasm inducing Super-O's as an alternative but rather as a more extreme form of sensual experience these Super-O states can induce. If you think of a Super-O experience as if it were a spherical magnet with magnetic poles then the 'calm seas of orgasm' would be one of the poles and the body quaking, moaning/screaming, leg thrashing experiences would be the other pole. Most of us will find our experiences varying at other various points of intensity on this magnetic sphere of pleasures.

Good Vibes to You!

Just like in your signature, I see it as a Ying-Yang interaction or balance. Calm seas are a more passive, relaxation based state, while the rough seas are more active and arousal based. Yet you need at least some arousal for calms seas, and some amount of relaxation and letting go for the more intense manifestations. I don't see both state as being separated by a great distance, but when you are experiencing them, they can surely feel like they are completely opposite experiences. Maybe it's because we can travel really fast in our own minds and we lose that sense of scale ?

I find calm seas usualy happens or I fall into it from the other end of the spectrum. I seem to go from active to calm to active. Or just active to calm.

@Rumel, love your description of it that completely encapsulates my experience with calm seas. Such an ethereal feeling being in such pleasure and still calm. I've laid for hours with a stupid grin in a calm seas and there's nothing else like it.

I was hoping people would respond with their own experiences of this as well. And @rumel, you are a poet. Thanks everyone. I’ve only recently started to experience undeniable super-o, and the first time was a calm seas experience. I had seen the phrase used, and despite reading most of the wiki, somehow I missed the glossary. Anyway, the description fits my initial experience very well. I experienced it as a deep pulsating that radiated pleasure and relaxation. It felt like stepping onto another plane of existence. What I found interesting about the rough seas (?) experience is that while it felt a bit more like a traditional orgasm, there was a lot of involuntary movement that was not particularly pleasurable. Specifically, I experienced a lot of uncontrollable bodily shaking. I was in a state of orgasm, but the shaking was distracting and a bit unwelcome. It started in my legs, and moved up my whole body to the point that my teeth were chattering. Despite a space heater blowing next to me, it felt cold and jittery. I did my best to just relax my body and focus on the pleasurable sensations. I’m curious if others have experienced this as well.

Yes, I think that's one of the elements, these Os have a bit of an edge to them, or for a lack of a better word, they're... dirty ? To me there's a part of the experience I could definitely do without, and sometimes it feels like I'm holding on for dear life, or like I'm going too far or too fast. Calms seas don't have that kind of negativity to them, to me they're 100% good. Of course this is magnified the deeper you go, rough seas are still quite pleasurable up to a certain point, but I often feel like they are too much and they're hard to navigate.

totally agree - until you’ve experienced it you won’t understand! Can be inudated with such intense pleasure which I can enjoy for minutes and sometimes hours! Occasionally will edge to body shaking as the head of my Jr rocks back and forth! Once I’ve been there it’s easy to go back to where I left off! A little nipple play always seems to escalate the process!

I would describe it as:

- floating thru space

- pure bliss over the entire body

- entire body feels paralysed and heavy, but at the same time feel totally safe and not a worry in the world

- every big deep breath puts you further down

- the pleasure is in no one spot on the body its all over

I got alot better at calm seas super O with getting more into meditation as feel they are along the same lines.

My calm seas happens when the K tab engages, it can happen at any time during a session. I am not sure what happens internally that reverses the pressure from my perinium to the K. But the change is instantaneuos, its like a flood of endorphins is released. My breath goes calm, i feel like I'm be warmly hugged. Its more than sexual. My last session I ended up in calm seas for 15 min., funny for the entire time I froze and didn't move a muscle. I had one foot slightly raised and it was effortless. When it stopped, I removed my max and I don't know why, my ass got hungry. So i inserted my bigger dildo, far as I could, and left it there, streching me. And the calm seas returned and my inside did a slow dance all over the dildo, it was so erotic.

@tbob, that's remarkably similar to some of the sessions I've had. Sometimes I go through rough seas with a smaller device and then insert something larger and immediately move into calm seas. It's somewhat counterintuitive since I would think something larger would be rougher.

It feels like calm seas are about happiness and contentment, and rough seas more like pleasure and thrill seeking.

While they take us in similar directions, I'm sure the natural chemicals we are getting are different. I would not be surprised at all if adrenalin was involved in  deeper rough seas experiences and Terror at the Gate events, while I can hardly see this going on during calm seas.

I wonder if it depends on the person, when it comes to terror at the gates. When I think of some of the things that have happened to me , which I'm sure would have freaked others out. For instance, physically feeling someone pulling on my ankles and lifting my hip off the bed and dropping it, and it falling in slow motion , but when it hits the bed its like it slammed and vibrated my everything, over and over. For minutes. The calm seas I described earlier where I was frozen in place, literally.I have walked on my but cheeks up and down my bed. I have been turned sideways and lifted , so the only thing that touches the bed is the side of my foot and an elbow, effortlessly hung there. feeling euphoric. Much of which would have freaked your average guy out. I was scared at first when some of these things happened to me, but once I calmed my fears, they werent threatening.

I agree, at some point I needed to accept that some of these adventures needed quite a bit of actual courage, something I often lack in "real" life. But in the Super-O realms I find that I can tap into some resources and I feel that I'm pretty good at steering things.

This goes into the mindf*ck part of the deeper experiences : Do happy people feel like this in daily life? Do courageous or confident people feel like I do when I'm navigating the uncharted realms of Os ? Is life supposed to be that good and exciting, or is it only possible during S-Os ?  Stuff like that...

Great reflection. If happiness is those feelings that fill our mind and chest or entire body, then I've never felt it. What about peace? Is that ?

Exactly ! If what I feel during calm seas is peace and contentment, then I've never been at peace. If what I feel during rough seas is true animalistic arousal and orgasm, then I've never felt that outside of sessions, either. Does this mean anything ?

There is no way to maintain satisfaction or any sublime feeling all the time and reality is full of uncontrollable changes. We have moments of good things (for more or less, it depends on the reality of each one).

I have known Peace and Happiness in its complete form I think only in super-O. Maybe there are ways of happiness and satisfaction... Reflections!

There is no way to maintain satisfaction or any sublime feeling all the time [...]

The drive to get "back there" as often and as long as possible is very strong... Which is not sustainable. In the simplest terms, I think that the gap between what you get in your daily life and what you get during sessions has some importance.

Borrowed from men much wiser than I am : "Before Super-O, chop wood and carry water. After Super-O, chop wood and carry water."

These days I'm wondering if I should concentrate on everything outside of sessions to try and see if I can improve my baseline feelings so they are closer to what I do get inside sessions.

Another question: Where was all this pleasure?

How could there be no signals from the body to achieve this satisfaction? I remember my first masturbation. Before the first masturbation I unconsciously knew that there was some function for the penis besides urinating and I always wondered what it was.

After a session even without a super O I think I could start singing (even if I didn't know it)

Someone here quoted a similar sentence: "During a super O you feel lucky to be alive" and that's true! How beautiful is all this!

The feeling is that I am in a state of peace and the world is at peace and prosperous. In prosperity, there are solutions for everything, problems have been solved and people understand each other fully. In these moments there is no obsession and health is in the air of the planet, sharing with others is intuitive. Something like that.

Joy can be contagious. Was there a little love there?

During my best experiences, it was crystal clear to me that if everyone could feel the same way, then we'd basically solve all of humanity's problems. Now does this comes from a careful analysis of the situation, or from the altered state whispering sweet nothing to me, maybe it's both. Love for all human beings was certainly part of the experience, but I sadly cannot take that back with me.

And I wonder if my conclusion is not a bit too close to : "If everyone was high, then we'd have no problems." Which is a bit scary, even if it's potentially true. There are several other intricacies to this question.

That sentence you quoted tells us that everything continues, we can revisit that place but we are social and there are inseparable needs that concern sustaining life.

This seems to be healthy as it is self-regulating. I also have the impression that everything can be better, (compared) to the feelings of the session. I see that if you observe a lifetime of 10 years, only 0.1% of everything is luck, any door seems to have been built by me. If the sessions put you on healthier progress, follow through.

Changes are progressive, not instantaneous and happiness cannot be mandatory.

A reflection: A crystal has many sides. If we think that life is like a crystal, it means we need to get the ability to deal with all sides. And these sessions are just a part of it.

Maybe that's why we can't live on super Os. Lol

Another reflection : If what we feel during calm seas is actually perfect peace, joy, happiness, contentment... Then I guess everyone should get to experience this at least once, therefore those who can do it would have a moral responsibility to do all they can to teach others. Because that's Nirvana or Grace, or it might go by other names, and that's what everyone is seeking, whether they know it or not. We know it can't last forever, but that's part of the deal.

If this is true, then, that's *a lot* of pressure !

For me it has: perfect form of peace, smell of perfect peace, taste of perfect peace, feeling of perfect peace. Would that be perfect peace?

If I understand correctly, the "pressure" would be in the responsibility of changing a person's life by indicating / giving an aneros (assuming he is open to it). After the learning period (of the person) you receive a life-changing testimony for the better. This person would also change others as it is a positive resonant effect (free and without obligation/pressure) . Is this about it?

Finally, I don't have an answer.

What do other Aneros practitioners have to say about these reflections?

Have you ever felt a peace like this?

@All We're curious.

Yes, I have felt that kind of peace and it is something that I would like others to feel as well. That is the primary reason I have continued to participate on this forum for the past 16 years. I don't feel it is a moral obligation but more of a sharing and encouragement for community betterment.

Yes have and continue to experience it! Have to totally relax and it will come to you! There is nothing like it but it cannot be forced to happen! Do not get inpatient or it will flee!

Maybe "moral obligation" was a bit excessive, I got carried away once again. Yet I think it's fitting for me, I just feel this has some degree of importance in the larger scheme of things, it's hard to explain. There's much to learn still.

Really interesting line of reflections! I too have tasted the amazing peace of calm seas on a few occasions and it is fantastic. I approach it sometimes from a religious perspective. I am a Christian, certainly not the best example of one though, and our conception of heaven is an eternal state of bliss and peace. Maybe what I'm feeling during calm seas is just a tiny fleeting taste of that state.
