I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I decided to chop the tail off of my MGX and although I saw a number of people mentioning they had done it, I didn't see any actual step by step instructions. After doing it, I realize why, it is pretty straightfoward. But here goes anways.

First I used a pair of wire cutters and snapped it through right where the tail joins onto the base area.

This left a little straight ridge and a line of bright white plastic where it was chopped.

Next I used a high grade sandpaper sponge, pictured below, and simply worked the aneros into the sponge in a circular motion in all directions. Eventually the bright white line will dissappear and it will appear as though the tail was never there. The key is to keep changing angles as you work it in circles. It only took me about 45 seconds of sanding to get it looking pretty good. I then went at it again for an additional 30 seconds or so, but this time went a little faster and more vigorously. The result is great, and looks as though no mod has been made.

I appreciate the tutorial on how to remove the tail. I'm not sure what a sandpaper sponge is, but will ask at the hardware store. You are correct that the image has been removed or deleted. I could not open it.
