NOTE: You can select multiple options for this poll. Please explain with a post!

I've heard a number of people say that they spend some time purely relaxing after they insert their Aneros but before they begin contractions. However, my body typically wants to begin semi-voluntary contractions (semi-voluntary in that I could stop them if I wanted but I'm not consciously saying to myself, "let's contract right now") almost immediately after insertion. So this leads me to ask, before a successful session, do you spend any time purely relaxing, and if so, how much?

EDIT: When I say "purely relaxing," I'm saying no contractions, voluntary or involuntary. See second and third posts for explanation.

This was hard to answer. I usually have INvoluntary contractions almost immediately after insertion. So, two minutes or less is marked because contractions start right away. More than an hour is marked because I can go for hours or more without have to do voluntary contractions.

Thanks for the post. I wasn't really referring to starting voluntary contractions--I just meant contractions in general. I sometimes wonder if I should hold back the involuntaries at all during the relaxation period. The obvious answer when I think about it is no--it just doesn't seem likely that holding back contractions is going to be conducive to relaxation or a good session. You've shed light on the question of when voluntaries and involuntaries begin--I'll edit first post to cover that idea.

I voted for both "two minutes or less" and "Between fifteen minutes and an hour" since, as I explained in your thread in the General Forum, it depends on my mood on the night, what else is going on around me and which model is in use at the time. In general, I would allow more time when using a larger model such as the Maximus than I would for any of the Peridise models or the Eupho.

We should perhaps straighten out the difference between "voluntary"and "Involuntary" contractions. Voluntary contractions are those you apply consciously, as You might do very gently during your relaxation period at the start of a session. Involuntary contractions are those over which you have no control. They are caused by the Aneros device doing its magic. As I understand it, involuntary contractions may or may not be part of the orgasmic process.

(I hasten to add that they usually are part of the orgasmic process)!

My meditation is the major factor in directing where my session will go. I grant it a half-hour. Sometimes though dame Aneros takes over from my breathing.

it doesn't take long for me and I'm ready to go ... if involuntaries don't start in a couple of minutes I do some slow light contractions ... that always gets things going for me!

I just need to do contractions and ab breathing to get the prostate swelled up and electrified. then things start happening when I do nipple or other stimulation.

The thing that sticks with me is...

"If you think you're relaxed then you're not relaxed enough"

Interesting thread as my relaxation/meditation routine has evolved in the four years since my earlier post. It has also branched into two orgasmic paths, one for the Helix-c and another, more meditative approach for the Eupho-c. (I don't attempt serious prostate-triggered dry orgasms with my other anal toys).

For Helix my involuntaries are in sync with my Zazen breathing somewhere between the 50th and 100th inhalation, (average: about 7 minutes).

My Eupho sessions start with some 'loosen up' contractions using Maximus for about 3-5 min. That's followed by a few minutes of just horizontal-Zazen relaxation without any toy. Then, in goes Eupho and I start measured breathing again. When the involuntaries start I allow them to take their own course and focus on where the major energy builds are in my body. (total limp relaxation time is probably 8-10 minutes)

I barely don't have involuntaries. And to have something like that I have to wait 2+ hours.
I would love to have involuntaries like you have.
