After a session with my helix, I removed the toy and felt a little drip down my leg. Yeah, you can guess what it was, but I assume it got a little mixed with the lube which was what made it so runny. I've been going at it for a number of months now, and never had that before. I don't do any enema before hand, and I realize that would probably help, but usually I just make sure I had a bm at least an hour before playtime, and I've never had this occur. Anyone else ever have it? Should I be concerned? Most of my sessions had been with the SGX model, and I think this helix is just a tad longer. Is it maybe too long for me? Is it reaching too far inside?
Don't worry about it
Pull it out slower. Should help.
Haas,
You didn't mention what type of lube you were using but if it was a glycerine-based (water based) preparation it's possible that you had a reaction to it. If you look through the Aneros WIKI in the section about water-based lubricants you'll see a citation about a "purgative effect". This refers to the cramping that some people experience when using lubes that contain glycerine. With other users there's little or no cramping but the evidence of a laxative effect is readily apparent upon removal of the Aneros (much as you've described). If you're using a water-based product there are two things you can try, use less of it or switch to another type of lube. One other possibility is that this was some transient peculiarity with your digestive tract on this particular day, in which case there's no need to change anything. Time will tell, explore a bit more and see how goes.

Thanks for the replies. For the record, it was Astroglide Gel. Just read the ingredients and it does contain glycerine.
This incident kinda turned me off to this whole thing, and I was actually enjoying it even though I had not reached any super O or anything even close. Just liked the feel of something rubbing the prostate. Since I had so much success with this lube before this, I suppose I can assume it's not a reaction to the glycerine? Just a "one time" incident? Or can one develop a reaction to it at any time?
I tend to use a condom for easier clean up so that's why I chose the water based lubes.
My own glycerin experience:
First month or two, no significant reaction.
Into my third month of regular use of K-Y, Astroglice and I.D. Glide I began to get bowel cramps late in my sessions and really loose stools on a regular basis. I'm an "anti ick-factor" guy and I did employ a very small douche an hour or so before each session but ceased that for a week to no avail.
Fourth month the glycerin reaction moved "outdoors" and spawned a rash resembling jock itch along my perineum. I ceased glycerin based lubes and switched to Slippery Stuff (gel) --- see @Badger 's posts on this. Tried shaving -- no help. Finally the rash cleared up. Parabeens lubes were OK but I've read there's a slight Cancer concern with Parabens Worked OK but I've migrated to Shea Butter and Coconut Oil 'comboed' with Vaseline or Crisco and have had no issues.
Several of us who are anally sensitive to Glycerin have postulated that it might be related to having been given gtlycerin suppositories as a child. No poll or data to back that up though.
As Rook indicated, sensitivity to glycerin is something that can develop over time, for others the effect is immediate. If you wish to confirm this, give the Astroglide another shot and see what happens. If you have some concern that this is going to put you off of this activity permanently, you may want to try an alternative type of lubrication. There are many "natural" water-based lubes that are currently available that contain aloe vera, flax seed extracts and various plant derived products that are glycerin free. I've tried them myself and they work quite well. If you prefer something oil-based check out some of Rook's suggestions.

Well, thanks again for the tips. Since this incident, I've continued to use the astro glide gel, and have not had any repeated episodes of this, so I'll just keep an eye on it.
Glad to hear it's working out.

Sounds like a good plan ! Within this group, lubes are a frequently discussed matter. Men tend to vary widely on how they respond to not just glycerin but in how fast they absorb some lubes. There seems to be no magic lube that meets all needs.
I'm a 'fast absorber' and a Plant Oil + Vaseline guy but do prefer a water based product when I'm on travel.
@Badger posted the results of a 2007 CATIE-Johns Hopkins University study of water soluble anal lubricants. That study looked specifically at how lubes affected the lining of the rectum and colon. A standout was Slippery Stuff (gel) made by Wallace - O'Farrell. You might check out their web page: https://wallace-ofarrell.com/
They claim no glycerin content and a very small amount of Parabens.
Personally I use a mix of silicone lube and shea butter for my non-silicone toys. For the silicone ones, I usually coat the toy with shea butter, then a thin coating of water based lube (contains glycerin), and prior to insertion, I've also put a small bit of butter inside myself. Sometimes I also inject a larger amount of water based lube with a syringe, but I've found it doesn't really do much, mostly it just stirs up my stomach.
