It sounds to me like you are right where you need to be except for your expectation of having involuntary contractions. You need to understand that we are all unique in our reactions to these massagers. You may be experiencing what we call the 'calm seas of orgasm' wherein you do not have strong or even any involuntary contractions. You might want to ask yourself " would I rather have pleasure waves without contractions or contractions without pleasure waves?" I wouldn't worry about inducing involuntary contractions, if they happen that's fine but if they don't and you are still experiencing pleasure isn't that fine as well?

If you are intent upon creating involuntary contractions you can do a couple of things. You can keep doing kegels exercises with your Aneros in situ until your muscles simply stop responding and go into involuntary contractions or You can try holding a 25% level contraction indefinitely until muscle fatigue sets in and involuntaries commence.

As regards breathing you can learn better breath control through a variety of techniques, please see @rook 's post in A Question about Breathing for some helpful tips and information links. You can also read Diaphragmatic Breathing

Good Vibes to You!

2nd what rumel said. I personal usually have all my muscle contract when I O. Sometimes I get the shakes but rarely. Also I find how turned on you are a major contributor to how strong your Os are. If you have been involuntary contracting your PC throughout the day for me at least that is a good indication. I have also taken to shaving the erogenous zone(Groin and Nipples) which a) turn me on when I shave there and b) for me I am more sensitive when shaved.

I would also like to add switch it up. I know toys are expensive but I find exploration helps a ton has it lowers your expectations of whats to come because you have no idea. Have at least 2 or 3 so you don't get used to the same sensation over and over again.

Sounds like you're doing pretty well for one year.

I'd guess maybe you're meeting the session with a certain intensity, so when the pleasure ramps-up, so does that intensity. It's something you have to search within yourself, but maybe you could take a more passive approach, or mentally release what built-up pleasure you have more often, like a pressure-valve.
I think with traditional masturbation, we're conditioned to expect one big build-up and one big release... but it doesn't have to be that way. You can experience lots of smaller releases during the overall build-up.
