Intense "tugging" pain, I'm so confused!

I find this to be very strange. I've never looked at an anatomical image of the anal canal and thought "oh, better not push anything in too far less I rip something upon pulling it back out." But when I push in the prograsm as far as I can, it seems to latch on to something, or move past something that causes intense pain. Then when I pull it back I feel the intense pain again as if it's snagging on something almost like some kind of "flap" that can be ripped out of place. Maybe it's my imagination causing me to think it's "tugging" on something, but it seems that when I carefully move it to unlatch whatever it might be latching on to, I am able to move it back out and avoid the pain. I don't experience this any time I'm not trying to push it in as far as possible. At least... I think I'm using it correctly by not pushing in that far... but then I thought "maybe I should be pushing it in that far, if only I wasn't hitting this thing that causes intense pain"

And people talk about how they can feel the head of the aneros moving across their prostate and such. I never felt like the aneros was moving across anything sensitive, so it made me think "what if this pain is caused by a sexually sensitive organ that I'm experiencing pain isntead of pleasure?" But I really doubt that.

What the heck am I hitting in there?

Edit: Wait a second, what's this, transverse rectal folds?: Is that what's going on?

Korkelz,

It is certainly possible you are experiencing irritation/pain caused by transverse rectal folds, there may be another possibility as well. About 3/4"-1" beyond the deepest penetration of my Progasm is my rectosigmoid sphincter of O'Beirne. This occurs at the transition juncture between the rectum and sigmoid colon. On past body self exploration with a toy a little longer than the largest Aneros, I discovered this constricted area which did produce painful sensations much as you described when it was stretched by the toy passing through it. I found, by concentrating, I could get this sphincter to relax sufficiently and stretch out allowing a more comfortable toy insertion and withdrawal. Perhaps this is what you are experiencing.

You might also want to read this thread, which discussed a potential rectal anomaly. In any event use of your Aneros should not be painful under normal conditions. I would encourage you to see your doctor and have things checked out.

I think I'm normal and I'm simply pushing it in too far, past my prostate, which I don't want to do.

So, I've heard plenty of times that people don't feel like the aneros is hitting anything. Fine, I'm just not rewired yet. When I manipulate the aneros manually, I can get the "need to pee" sensation. I'm guessing that comes from hitting the prostate or the bladder... but then that means I can't feel the difference between the two organs, unless hitting the prostate really is supposed to feel different from hitting the bladder... I wouldn't know! I know pushing down beneath my pubic bone hits the bladder which produces the "pee" sensation.

Huh... very confusing. If the prostate is such a sexually sensitive organ, why is it so elusive to us all? Don't bother answering this question, I'm sure it'd require a book to explain.

Back to basics -- how tall are you ? And, might the SGX be a good choice? Try it first with the tail. Then perhaps go for de-tailing it (voyager's term).

I have two SGXs in my toybox, one that's 'de-tailed.' Very early in my Aneros practice, I produced a dry-O with the SGX which resulted in what I call a strong, "rectal clench." (canal hugs the tool hard against the prostate and produces some tremor.) When I related that result, rumel commented that the SGX can produce a wide range of positions.

Several weeks ago I got curious about anal basics (little anal experience before I started Aneros practice.) So I ran a well lubbed 'anal wand' up inside. Identified either a curvature or sphincter about 7 or 8 inches from my outer sphincter. That compares closely with what rumel noted in his post. I'm 6ft even (no clue on rumel's bod size). Last night I repeated the exploration with the wand and with a slight 'wiggle' of the wand, cleared the sphincter at 8" of insertion. From there it was clear sailing inside the sigmoid with no obstructions until I ran out of wand at about 13." The wand is 5/8" in diameter x 15" long. Smooth surface with spherically rounded ends.

During a couple of Eupho sessions this last summer, I employed a curled up posture on my back and was able to relax with Eupho, maneuver it (hands-free) along the posterior surface of my canal and tease what I now think is this same sphincter. It felt as though I managed to get the head of Eupho across that "ridge" (felt like 'peeking around a corner.' So, it seems certainly possible that with a shorter than average rectum and some pressure, a Progasmn might tease/penetrate that sphincer. So, I tend to agree with rumel-- perhaps a "home run" into the sigmoid.

Many years ago, before the advent of the flex-sig and colonoscope, I twice had "Silver Stallion" runs into the sigmoid and beyond. The diameter of that hummer was "generous." Certainly comparible to the Progasm.

I'm about 5"11 and have been using the Progasm which I recently got and have MGX which I got a year ago... just had a long Progasm session reminding me how lost I am in rewiring. I could try the MGX again. Based on what you're saying it seems that there's no real problem, just the ignorance of my mind and body which everyone has to deal with as they rewire 🙂

sounds cool! glad to see you've got a handle on this.

the old dictum of never forcing an Aneros remains "tried and true." rook

You and me both. I called my experience "Up Periscope," because it had handles like a periscope, was quite long, and was very large in diameter. As far as I was concerned, it certainly felt like it was several inches in diameter (I'm sure it wasn't much over 1"-2" dia, but man, it was a very painful experience. The sweat cascaded off my forehead so severely, that the nurses were getting quite concerned. I think I could feel it tickling my uvula. I'm not quite sure why they were going so deep when they were just looking at my hemorrhoids; maybe checking for polyps since they were in the neighborhood. If I had been more worldly at the time, I would have felt violated, but I didn't know any better. Much like my first experience with a prostate exam a few years later, by an American-hating, Lebanese Urologist. Apparently, he claimed he was trying to express some prostate fluid, but I was certain that I could feel his long finger pushing its way up my urethra and out my penis. Good times, good times.

Where do you feel the pain, Korkelz? The anal canal level is richly innervated with sensory nerves but the inside of the rectum doesn't sense pain. At that level hollow viscus distention (perhaps this is what you did pushing on the large Progasm once already inside) and peritoneal sources of pain are what are felt. And the transverse rectal folds are merely soft folds of the tissues that line the rectum and they don't latch on to a Progasm any more than to your stool when having a bowel movement. If you're in the 40 to 50 and above crowd you may have already had a colonoscopy for good health reasons and if so they've examined this area well already.

It took me 6 months of rewiring to even feel a pleasant sensation upon contact with my prostate and about 10 months in all to experience my first super-O. With initial insertion the Aneros now gives me the sensation you described of feeling like you need to pee, but combined also with a feeling like the earliest stages of a pre-orgasmic buildup inside is wanting to take place. Relaxing on my back for about 10 minutes and then doing gentle PC contractions and tickling my nipples makes this feeling "grow" until--in good sessions--an orgasmic feeling like I'm ejaculating takes place, though I stay dry.

age 22... I guess I'm not sure where the pain is coming from, doesn't make sense that I would feel pain based on what you said. While I don't feel the "pee" sensation when using the Aneros normally, if I manipulate it manually, I feel it. I don't have to push it so far where I'm feeling the pain.

It is true that whereas the lining itself of the rectum doesn't sense pain, pressure and distention within the rectum can produce pain and thus as you've described you can feel pain from manual manipulation of something as large as a Progasm within it. At your age it is extremely unlikely you have something abnormal interfering with the Progasm's position or movement inside. If you otherwise have normal bowel function and no other gastrointestinal symptoms you shouldn't need to go to a gastroenterologist for evaluation, I wouldn't think. My approach to use of the Progasm or any other of the Aneros massagers would be to allow them to position themselves with proper lubrication and sphincter tone and allow only that movement that would be generated by sphincter or involuntary contractions.
