That's a great point, I think it's fair to say that there is some kind of "novelty window" or maybe "beginner's luck" that we can only experience at the very start.

I think I could be experiencing an additional shortfall in sexual-novelty after years of THC sessions, and the many dud sessions that followed in sobriety. I really believe there's something to be said for sexual anticipation. The same "Classical conditioning" that made dogs drool at the sound of a bell, might also make men's penises drool pre-cum at the thought of an aneros session. 😂
Having really lackluster sessions might work to undo the free arousal provided by this linked anticipation.

Just a follow up on this part...

Something that frustrates me now, is how good sessions had started getting towards the end of that 8 months of sobriety.

After a session last night, I'm thinking I might not need to wait 8 months again. Right now I'm nearly 2 months off THC, and feel much farther out from the fog than I was at this point last time. I think it's because the several times I did cave and smoke weed for a session, it didn't bring me right back to frequent use again.

As a trend, my use has been way down, and has stayed down for the past 2 years. So I'm thinking there's some cumulative effect here. Rather than the whole effort being reset to zero every single time.

So I've been off weed since early August, but I found some old dried up weed a week ago and decided what the hell let me smoke it all up really fast. It was honestly kind of fun to be high again. I only jerked off once while high over those 4 days, and it was super fun and all but honestly I like cumming sober much better. Did not do a prostate session. In the last 2+ months my prostate sessions have been infrequent due to work out of town, but when I have had sessions they have all been amazing. On level if not better than when I was high. I've been getting off weed since April I think, and have only smoked a few times since. I must say that my prostate is more vibrant and easier to stimulate quickly to any level of O than when I was high. I leak precum and prostate fluid continuously now whereas it was barely there. Maybe 30 minutes of serious prostate milking to get a drop, using a g-spot dildo for the purpose, and now, I'm leaking prostate fluid in under 10 minutes sometimes 5 or less with just simple Aneros usage. I still take all my libido/sex/orgasm supplement enhancers and I think they work better now that I'm not so dehydrated and my system depressed from THC. I haven't used mushrooms much at all in the last 3 or so months either, that is something I plan to get back into soon. Shrooms are way different from weed though, and not anywhere near the same when it comes to effect on prostate play.

Hope those of you that are quitting weed keep at it and I hope your prostate sessions turn into monumental joy events while sober!

Thank you for your experiences.  I got used to masturbating on THC gummies and I really want to get back to trusting my own brain with dopamine distribution rather than initiate it with substances.

I'm in the middle of a blog post that relates to why cannabis is so effective with aneros.

An "orgasm" is a trance state. Not a typical orgasm, but an orgasm that briefly takes you out of reality. Orgasm is a trance state caused by pleasure.
In order to reach a trance or "flow" state, cannabis is a very effective shortcut. This is also known as a theta waves brain state that we experience during sleep or deep relaxation or meditation.

So how do you reach this theta brain state without cannabis?

Here are 10 drug free ways:
