Are All Water Based Lubes Created Equal?

I know we can debate the longevity of lubes within sessions,  and which ones might be better for your body chemistry.  Here I am mostly talking about product upkeep for silicone models.

Are we okay with all lube products that are water based, or are there specific ingredients that should be avoided?  I wanted to stick with the Aneros Session lube, but it is much easier for me to just go to my local store and pick something up.  Unfortunately, the ingredients used in Aneros lube are completely different than anything else I have found.

Personally I've always found it easier to buy things online than go to my local store to pick up lube, it's just one of those things for which I don't necessarily want to have the cashier ringing me out!

Correct me if I'm wrong but Aneros Sessions lube is made by Sliquid which is a company dedicated to making body-safe and correctly-pH-balanced lube.  I guess it's very helpful for women who have allergic reactions to big brand-name lubes.  Sliquid and a company called Slippery Stuff are the two companies that I know of with that goal central to what they do.  Unfortunately they don't have the size or cultural recognition of a company like KY (yet).

Some warn about the long-term effects because of the way that the rectum absorbs things back into the body and will only use natural products like coconut oil, I myself have never tried it but it is an option.  As far as I know standard big-name lubes don't cause problems with men's asses like they can to women's vaginas but I haven't done the research.

Now regarding longevity of water-based lubes I seem to remember the all-natural Sliquid lubes drying out a bit sooner than others I tried.  I'm exclusively ID Glide and Slippery Stuff right now and have been for years but I have been curious about trying something like a Silk lube.  Of course everybody has heard that you're not supposed to use silicone lube with silicone toys, but is it really an issue?

Cara Sutra says no and even tested it out by leaving a silicone toy in silicone lube for an extended period of time with no ill effects, of course she was using a $10 butt plug and not a $70 Aneros...I don't know if I'm ready to repeat her experiment with one of my valuable toys.  But, it does stop and make you think...

I have a silicone dildo that over time seems to have thinned out a bit due to use with oil based lubes and coconut oil, but it didn't degrade the toy on the surface so much that it can't be used.  The vibrating function (powered by batteries) no longer works.  I don't know if that has to do with oil seeping in, or just how worn down the product became.  I've had it for over ten years.

I have had no problems with normal Aneros models.  I am though skeptical with the vibrating ones.  I would rather be safe than sorry.  I see tons of water based lubes out there, but ingredients are so different across the board.  I'm wondering what ingredients we should be staying away from with Aneros products, even more so the silicone ones.

The Care And Cleaning section on the Aneros site is very generic.

I've noticed this stuff hasn't hit the aneros crowd yet but the best water-based lube has been found. X-lube, comes in a dry powder, one bottle can make a whole bathtub of lube. I've been using it for aneros as well as dildo sessions and it is great. You can mix it to any consistency you desire and in any quantity too. There's definitely a 'next-level' experience when you start using hilarious amounts of lube, broke through a mental barrier about making a mess by injecting a ton of it and letting it gush all over my toys.

I second that. Still on my first bottle of X-Lube: it's still half full and I'm using it since 1,5 years or so. J-Lube came up once or twice on the forum. X-Lube is similar, but advertises, that is was made and tested for humans (J-Lube was originally made for veterinaries / animals).

Hahaha yeah, you get so much out of it, that I finally adapted the "too much is just enough" mentality.
