hello.  longtime lurker, fist time poster, Aneros newbie.

so, I've received a Helix Syn Trident.  I've used it once, for about an hour.

now, I'm not so naive as to think I'd feel anything anywhere near any kind of pleasure in that short of a time.  I'm pretty sure it'll take much, much longer for my journey.  but I did think I'd at least feel something more physical or tactile, like the sensation of having the toy poking at or sliding against my prostate area (much like poking your stomach with your finger or sliding your hand up and down your stomach).  I do feel my anus clutching the toy, but that's the only tangible thing I feel.

is this normal?  is there no tactile sensation in that area?  or is it thought that the toy is too small and perhaps I should try something bigger/girthier?  to continue along the path, I think I need to get past this issue, so any comments would be appreciated.

many thanks...

Yes it is normal.  Stick with your toy.  Years or decades of not using your anal canal for anything except it's primary function has taught you to ignore stimulation of the nerve endings.  Through practice, you will awaken the nerve endings in your anal canal, becoming more aware of them with time.  Thus the same toy that provokes no sensation today may soon feel very present.  In the beginning of my journey I hardly felt my helix syn.  However, over time I have gained so much awareness of my nerve endings that I can't walk normally with my toy in, because the sensations it generates are just that strong.

Just be patient, do regular sessions (1-3 times a week), do kegels outside of sessions, read the wiki gspot, the tug of war method, and peruse the forum for other tidbits of wisdom that may speak to your experience.

First, welcome to the Forum. As noted in the Introductory Message to New Members thread ->"E.) Be Patient - The time frame for this process of "rewiring" can vary widely from individual to individual, some users have gotten to a Super-O almost immediately, others have taken more than a year or even two to reach that goal. Nearly a quarter of the men using the Aneros took longer than a year to get there (see the user Poll - ”HOW LONG BEFORE YOUR FIRST SUPER-O?”). In any case your journey is going to be unique for you, what you will be learning about yourself will be valuable and enjoyable, the process is very much worth the effort." It is impossible to predict how long it will take for you to reach your first Super-O, but your expecting it to take "...much, much longer..." is a little fatalistic, you could be programming yourself for slow development. It may be better to just enter each Anerosession with an attitude of adventurous exploration free of expectations and focused on the subtle sensations induced by your Aneros massager. You can't force the process to go faster but you can certainly retard your learning with false expectations.

IMHO, new users are often overloaded with their psychological concerns surrounding the whole process of prostate massage and easily overlook the subtle sensations that are actually being generated by their their body so in that sense, yes, it is normal. The rewiring process involves you learning to focus on these subtle sensations, as your focus becomes more attuned the perceived sensations will also grow in intensity.

There is tactile sensation from prostate massage, it is initially subtle but you will learn to discern it with practice. Please see Super-O Myths & Illusions regarding Illusion #2 - "Bigger is better".

Good Vibes to You!

Most guys don’t feel much for the first few weeks. Do you apply anchored tension? It’s usually better to contract some and hold that all the while and contract from that point but not relax below it.

Have a session every other day, don’t search for feelings and sensations, listen for them with your mind. Things will happen soon enough. Just breathe, and believe, think sexy thoughts and let the pleasure come of it’s own accord. And when it does, let it take you,not you take it.

Just love yourself brother 😉

Yes, welcome.  Be assured that the Helix Syn Trident is a fine model to start and own.

I do feel my anus clutching the toy (...)

This is a key part of some of the greater pleasures I’ve felt.  It’s a good sign that you sense this, in your inaugural hour.

If you read the forum, and I suggest you do, it is a pretty common thread among new users that they don't feel anything. I tell you your body feels something, and as time passes, it will introduce you to those feelings. Like many, your body is deciphering, buffering, getting ready to display. You may also find like alot of people here myself included, that even when I started going into convultions, I couldn't feel anything, but I could tell there was some communication going on, eitherwise I wouldn' be convulsing. For me the good feelins came very gradually. I'm a year in and I am yet to have a definitive O of any kind, yet I have had sessions far better than many of my traditional sex experiences. Be patient and really enjoy what comes, when it comes.

Yes, I have been known to be a bit defeatist.  I was not raised to be a confident person, and I've been dealing with it for the 61 years I've been on this earth.

But I was more thinking that I only have an hour or two of private time a week, which would impede progress more than anything else would.

But I will be keeping the sessions going when I can.

I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that responded.

I've been lurking on forums dealing with a lot of things, from computers to ham radio to cooking to weather to....etc.  On all these forums there's quite a bit of nastiness and lots of "put-offs".  Really, if you start a forum to answer people's questions, why tell them "google is your friend" and admonish them by telling them to use the forum search function because the question's been answered in another post somewhere?  I mean, if you aren't going to answer the question, then why bother?

But having been lurking here for a few weeks as I was making the decision to jump into the prostate massage pool, I have to say that I've seen nothing but positivity and a overriding willingness to help people.  It's really a breath of fresh air.  I know I'll have more questions as time goes on and it's nice to know I can come here for answers if I can't find them in the forum myself.

jaypea, your hour or two weekly may translate into say around 1 to 3 sessions, and that sounds like a good amount of time to me.  In the off-time, you can read, and also acquaint yourself with your various pelvic muscles with discreet tension & release, even during boring activities like standing in line.  Your development doesn't rely on hands-on time exclusively, it all counts as education and exploration.  Some have remarked that days between sessions allow your body and mind to process each experience, plus build anticipation and arousal, to make the following session that much better.

Don't suppose anything will stand in your way, and it won't.  You can do this!  You will be supported by historical advice, live advice, and the wiki.   Forum support has been instrumental to my persistence.  I'm happy you've taken the plunge and it's nice to hear the forum seemed to help you approach the edge.  People will be pleased to read your continued postings and observations.

Then maybe you will learn to appreciate the quest for the Super-Orgasm as an actual Hero's Journey. After all, in this realm it's only about you and your mind, and success does not depend on external factors as much as we might think. You can approach this as a way to find more about yourself, or you can decide it's only enhanced masturbation, but each time a new feeling appears, or when you cross over to the Super-O realms, this is you doing it, and only you.

If you approach this as being an explorer in your own mind, I'm convinced you will find many positive things, and the skills and confidence you develop while seeking the Super-O can radiate into your daily life.
