Millions of jobs will be created if regulations for scrapping of old vehicles are put in place. Plastic, rubber, glass, fabric, technology and metal industries will get a boost from the auto sector and will benefit from increased demand, said Jindal.
Scrap imports business increased by 35 percent in the first half this year to 3.87 million tonnes. Shipments from the United Arab Emirates was up 27 per cent to 7,11,544 tonnes while that of the UK more than doubled to 5,30,104 tonnes, according to Ministry of Commerce data.
