Short answer: following 2.5 years of regular use. No, it's not been a cure. Has it helped -- definitely yes. Is there a trend toward long improvement -- I think so. Has it reversed bph -- no.

Longer answer with explanation:

Unmedicated and without Aneros massage I'm a member of the five-times a night crowd and when on the golf course whine about the lack of porta-pottys. BPHwise, I'm in the 50-gram region. I've not attempted Avodart shrinkage therapy and my Urologist prefers to treat me with a simple alfa-blocker.

I've used Hytrin (terrazosin), Cardura (doxazosin) and Saw Palmetto. Before I started with the Aneros I was taking 1-mg of Hytrin daily and three Saw Palmatto caps a week to smooth out the daily peaks and valleys from Hytrin. (the time-release character of Cardura also worked to do that but at the cost of an excessive drop on blood pressure and severe restrictions on my use of oral E.D. meds.)

Daily Saw Palmetto seems to aggrevate my tendency toward Early Ejac.

Regular Aneros usage alongside 1mg of daily Hytrin gives me a solid stream, good start, no dribble, no frequency, no urgency and sleep throughout the night. Ultrasound shows I'm OK at voiding my bladder without any heavy effort.

Regular Aneros use (two pleasure sessions a week and a therapy session about every 10 days) works for me.

The Aneros has not yielded any decrease in prostate size and my Urologist offers a prognosis that I'll need surgery in about four years (early 80s). I've opted for that path rather than put up with the expense and reported side effects from Avodart.

Last February I was out of the country for four weeks and forgot to pack my Hytrin. Relying on just Aneros massage, I had some tightening of my stream and a single 'git-up' each night. The annoyance was there but it was not as serious as being without any therapy. I think I could live easily in the no-medication mode and rely on just the Aneros.

Remember that all of us have some differences in how we are affected by bph so YMMV and your Urologist probably has a good finger on what your prostate is doing.
