I've been puzzling over this a bit. When a guy has a regular orgasm his T levels drop quickly, and for most men, it's not possible to go another round immediately. For many older guys, not even for 12-24 hours. For younger guys like in their teens, it's possible to recycle in minutes, but eventually age catches up and they'll top out and have to wait for their recycling interval. For me there's never really been a two-fer. At my best I could manage two or three a day with adequate recycling between them. And now it's definitely one per 24 hours, and more time is actually better.
A prostate orgasm is different of course, and I don't believe it hits T levels the same way, or at least not as much, unless it's accompanied by a regular orgasm. I think that's why sessions can be so long and have so many super orgasms. My understanding was you can't have a regular orgasm without a spike in T levels, but I don't know what the limiting factors are on prostate orgasms and sessions.
I can go an our or 90 minutes at a time, have a bunch of prostate orgasms some really lengthy and intense, almost scary, then finish off with a combo prostate and regular whammo. Normally I don't try again for 24 hours, perhaps 48 or more. Today I tried a short cycle, and got the Aneros back on the job in under 12 hours. Wow, it was different. It was nice, and I did have a half-dozen relatively light prostate orgasms in about 45 minutes, but nothing like 12 hours earlier. No mind-blowing minutes-long earth-quakers. And of course, my T levels hadn't bounced back enough to wrangle a finishing combo/whammo. I also seemed to demand more stimulation, more pressure, and tried to deliver that in various ways with marginal success. And I started dreaming about a larger size Aneros because of it, which I have not before.
So what's going on? What's the physiology of a prostate orgasm? What needs to recycle after a P-orgasm? Is T level related to prostate excitement and sensitivity too? And what's your typical recycle time?
Hey @clenchmaster ,
you raise interesting questions! Let me ask what you mean by T levels. The "T" stands for... Testosterone?
My understanding was you can't have a regular orgasm without a spike in T levels, but I don't know what the limiting factors are on prostate orgasms and sessions.
AFAIK, the limiting factor for traditional orgasms is prolactine - a hormone that is responsible for making women lactate (hence the name) and shutting down the male sex drive after ejaculation. Since Super-O's are mostly a nervous system phenomenon, my guess is, what limits it is the amount of neural transmitters your body has in stock and to some degree desensitization of the receptors. I'm by no means an expert on this, but as far as I understand it nerves communicate via their nerve endings. Inside one nerve cell the information gets transmitted electrical but between nerves it's done via neurotransmitters. Anesthetic work because the block the receptors of the nerve endings so that these can't pick up any transmitters as they are meant to or not the full amount. The excitement of the nerve cell (which gets forwarded to the next cell) depends on the amount of transmitters which successfully dock on the receptors.
Transmitters can be used more then one time, but they get absorbed / split after a while. So my hypothesis is, that you drain your body from certain transmitters while having Super-O's for a few hours.
And what's your typical recycle time?
I'd say 2-3 days, but normaly I don't try it when I'm not in the mood. And the full mood is usually built up after a week, which is (surprise) my personal schedule.
Funnily enough, I was able to knot the biggest dildo I own just yesterday and really drained my prostate in the process. Today was quites strange: my mind was lusty but my body was not very responsive. Energy-orgasm-whise goes almost nothing right now and traditional stim is just enough to keep an erection up where I would normally ejaculate after 2 mins. So I did the logical thing and saw it as a challenge. Edged for about one hour straight with fast and hard stroking and experienced for the first time what I read in Brauer&Brauer's ESO-book some time ago: after a while relaxation sets in and I did drift into orgasmic trance / Super-O. A rather weak one but it felt very different and new... and exciting. 🙂
What's the physiology of a prostate orgasm?
The sad and short answer is: nobody knows because there is no proper scientific research on that.
Cheers, Unfug
@clenchmaster I practice SR all the time now and my period between EJs is about 6-7 days. So my "traditional" refractory period is not very relevant.
However, when it comes to Aneros sessions, I do know and "feel" a "pseudo-refractory period" and I believe that is the thrust of your question. My sessions nowadays average about 2 or 3 per week. I never try to 'force' a session just because that is what I want to do. I always base it on how I am feeling and not just 'by the numbers'! Like a traditional ejaculatory 'refractory period', for me there is a period of time following an Aneros session where I will not get erect or even feel like I want or need to ejaculate. I don't understand what is happening with my hormones during that time but I just embrace it as part of the ebb-and-flow of my sexuality. As long as this cycle is able to be repeated over and over again, that is good enough for me!
Yes, by "T Levels" I mean testosterone, which I guess doesn't change with orgasm but is key to arousal. Hadn't heard about prolactine, but I'll look into it.
@goldenboy - what do you mean by "SR"?
Right now it seems I can go a few days off, even a week, but if I do I seem to be "out of practice", and it takes more effort to get into a p-orgasm. However, 24 hours later, I'm an expert again. And I can repeat again in another 24 hours. However, things seem to go flat after several 24 hour cycles, then I need a few days off. Just wondering why, and how to better regulate.
I’ve never been into SR (semen retention). I tried it a couple times and it doesn’t make me feel good at all. I’m more cranky and on-edge. But I’m in my late 30s and am used to at least 1 ejaculation per day. I went 8 times from wake to sleep once this year and could easily go 3 a day if I had time. So retaining even a day or 2 is challenging.
When I was “learning” aneros and how to have a super o, I tried it several times a week. Now I just do it whenever I feel like it. I find that prostate horniness can come on separately than regular and about once a week or so. I don’t like long sessions, preferably an hour or less. But that’s more due to the time constraint and other things I like to do.
The hormone piece is really interesting. I’d love to learn more. It seems like there’s different hormones released when going solo and with a mate, too. My 8 TOs were solo. Max with my wife is 2 in a day. Unfortunately aneros has only been a solo activity so I can’t compare.
About 3 months for me, nobody can help me its just my libido and i dont understand why but my prostate doesnt get horny for at last that period. Im only 37 ffs!
*Anecdotal* I ride an average of 2-3 times a week and almost always super O but about once a month I will have an extremely great ride. After a great ride I could usually repeat it the next night but rarely a third. Maybe my T levels peak each month, kind of like a male period.
@clenchmaster : like brucemarkland, I will sometimes ride 2-3 times a week. I have to do this overnight, in bed next to my wife. And i'd say that 1 out of 4 or 5 sessions are really good. they last from 45-75 min. (at the cost of a good night's sleep, though).
As far as the physiology of the prostate O, I can't say that prolactin is involved, and I'm pretty sure that if you don't "finish off" with a wet O, the testosterone does not drop out. But I would point out that Oxytocin almost has to be involved. That's the "feel good" hypothalamic "hormone" that is released with nipple stimulation. As a matter of fact, that's probably why some guys get a real kickstart in their ride from nip stim. (I know that I do). Several years ago, there was a physician around who had talked about putting someone in an MRI--functional MRI--to see what parts of the brain were being activated during a ride. I don't think he ever did it.
BTW: I haven't been able to correlate being exhausted with having a good or bad ride, but when I ride at night, if I am really tired, I will as often as not fall asleep with the device on board. That's ok for all but the PG ice, which can get uncomfortable (well, it used to, but not any more). On the other hand, I have had some amazing overnights even when tired. If I insert after I've gotten up to go the bathroom, I usually can feel if it is going to be a good ride.
My record for riding: I have done it 3 times in 24 hours, but not in the past 3 years. I wouldn't recommend that. And never ride again if you are sore or it feels uncomfortable when you insert. That's asking for trouble.
Enjoy your journey.
