I received my Aneros today (SGX), along with the ID Glide Lube. I am very new to anal play.

I lubed up my anus and the Aneros, and began the process of insertion. I tried the recommended position (on my side, lower leg straight, upper leg drawn up). I inserted it about half way as instructed, and then worked on relaxing to wait for it to be drawn the rest of the way in. As far as I can tell it never was. I tried relaxing for about 30 minutes, and then tried applying pressure to further insert it. At the end of it all the Aneros never went in far enough for the tab to come in contact with the perinium.

So, my first thought is, I may be going about this wrong. I went back to reread the instructions online. Upon some consideration, it seems as if they *may* be suggesting in the instructions to position the tab *on* the perinium (ie, in contact) and then insert the Aneros. Is that in fact a successful way of proceeding or am I grasping for meaning from the instructions?

Any suggestions on how to proceed in terms of acheiving full insertion and contact between the perimium and the tab?

A slight coat of Vaseline (as suggested somewhere else) before the lube may help.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did use vaseline this evening and it seemed to help. I succeeded on this attempt in getting the device all the way in. It felt mildly nice, but I expect it to take a while to adjust to this kind of stimulation, so I'm not disappointed that it wasn't earth shattering on this occasion. I also noted, as some other folks have commented, that the tab tended to sort of dig in, somewhat uncomfortably. Overtime this discomfort faded however.
