It gives me a great ab workout when the invouuntaries hit. Its kind of like doing sit ups when the joltz of energy hit me. Mostly the rides giive me more energy to go to the gym to burn off more energy and calores.

Not at all... you're laid on a bed using small muscles. Not going to make you lose weight.

If you want to lose body mass, you will have to get your heart rate to a good 140-150 bpm for 30mins at least every day. Yes... every day 30mins of 24hours.

Start slowly. 2-3 days a week. It's ok to do 15mins but that's the minimum if you want some benefits. Do something you like and start eating lot of vegetable (I find it is easier to eat well when you do sport). Vegetables will fill your stomach and they are not caloric. Fruits are good but they have sugar, to be consumed the morning or before exercising.

Be 'Mindful' during your Aneros sessions and carry that same Mindfulness into your workouts and other elements of your life. Stick with @diem's ideas on Vegetables and you'll see the pounds slowly vanish.

Some people early on here did lose weight from all of the sweating, thrashing about, and elevated heart rate; it was probably more healthy than running, because there's no weight or stress on the joints and ligaments.

I myself was hoping to achieve weight loss in this manner, but it didn't work out that way. I've had so much nerve damage at the L5-S1, L4-L5, L3-L4 that I have very little sensation in the rectum anymore.

How did that happen?

I have both osteoarthritis in that area of the spine, and also degenerative disk disease (oh, lucky me!).

That and many years neglecting the problem, mostly due to the medical expense of it all, I ignored it, and thought I could get better. The time I spent trying to stay off my feet and not doing anything to nurse myself better cause significant weight gain, which compounded and exacerbated the problem. At the time, I thought it was pulled or weakened back/hip muscles, and spending hours on heating pads actually did more harm than good.
