I don't think this urinary urge sensation is a "...right path..." so much as it is a byproduct of prostate stimulation. In other words I don't think this is a sensation you should pursue in hopes of it generating Super-O's. That sensation is totally normal but is really only indicative of pressure being exerted by your massager on the prostate. It is a good sign that your prostate is being stimulated which is what you are after but there are many other more relevant factors which go into forging a 'right' path towards prostate orgasms.

Please read the thread Introductory Message to New Members and follow reading through the links provided therein, I think those will go a long way toward getting you on a good path forward.

Is it fair to say that if I've been unable to achieve super os using a normal prostate massager then the aneros won't work either?

NO, I don't think it is fair to say that an inability to achieve Super-O's is due to any particular prostate massage device, it is not the device which generates orgasms it is you that does so. I don't know what you mean by a 'normal' prostate massager but you need to know that Super-O's are generated by your body and mind working in concert with each other. A prostate massager is merely a device to help trigger you into learning to sync that body/mind connection. As authority @B_Mayfield long ago noted, Aneros devices act as "Tantric training wheels" aiding in the learning process but once the lessons are learned the training wheels are no longer required to achieve orgasmic states.

There are many potential obstacles to reaching Super-O status and the device used is the least of those. Please see the thread Identifying Obstacles to Progress to see an introductory list of some of those obstacles. It is in resolving those obstacles where you will make progress and achieve success.

While there are many different prostate massagers on the market you can not blame your lack of success on the device. It is true that certain devices may fit your body better than others and thus may help trigger your prostate awakening more readily and Aneros devices may be the best designs available but even they can not guarantee success if the obstacles are not addressed.

Sometimes an urge to pee, means you have to pee... and if it does, you should have one, so you can eliminate that sensation as the pressing distraction it might be.

For me, the sensation is unmistakable, and 100% of the time, it means I have to empty my bladder in a big way. With experience, you'll figure out whether these piss-urgency feelings are phantom sensations or not. I seemed to have skipped over this stage, because every single time it's a big piss I'm needing, and nothing else.

I completely agree with @clenchy here, when you have to go, or if you think you have to, then just head to the bathroom. Trying to get anything done in life is just harder when you have a pressing urge to pee, and obviously it's even worse when prostate stimulation is involved. It will feel much better when you restart the session and you know everything is in order.

Pee sensations are fairly normal while training and rewiring.
Your mind and relaxed states are all that was holding you back even with other toys. The other toys would do the job too. It’s hard sometimes. You gotta get to a place where you experience things without thinking about them and chasing them. Just keep practicing. Progress is usually stumbled upon rather than straight up worked for.
