Well, I did a session with my Progasm last night using Shea Butter, and, while it seemed to do an adequate job of internal lubrication, I was disappointed in the experience overall. My main complaint is the mess. I inserted two balls beforehand, as suggested here, and had a difficult time getting them in. (Yes, I lubed up my fingers with water-based lube first.) Then I smeared the stuff all over my ice Progasm, and then put Astroglide on top. By now my hands were a mess, and this stuff is hard to wash off. It's very tacky and oily. I'd say ease of insertion was similar to using just Astroglide or Wet.
I guess everyone has their preferences on lube -- I probably won't be using Shea butter much in the future, tho.

You might try refrigerating it. It becomes much more solid and I think it's easier to insert. Then just wait an extra minute or two for it to melt. I prefer shea butter without any other lubes involved and if you get any extra on your hands or other parts of your anatomy it's all good since it's healthy for your skin. It can be rather oily if a lot gets used, but it hasn't been a real problem for me to clean up. Ultimately it's up to you and how comfortable you are with chemicals getting direct access to your bloodstream.
I agree... 100% Shea is the silkiest lube going for me.
I also understand gm501's comment. I didn't adapt aesthetically to rolling and inserting small balls of refrigerated Shea. Perhaps I didn't work hard enough to develop the technique but I was leaving more Shea on my cheeks than inside my anus.
So, I dug out an old bullet casting mold and molded Shea Butter into .38cal./ball, police-spcl "bullets." Call these "macho suppositories" 8) Chilled, these worked better than the 'butter balls' but the whole process was more labor intensive and time consuming than I had anticipated. (J4, if you're reading this, I proved you correct!)
Lesson Learned: If anyone wants to try this, start with enough casting molds to make at least two dozen bullets at a time. And, choose an aluminum mold to make them chill faster in the freezer. (Note, the only molds I found for 'ball' ammo are cast iron.. the aluminum molds I found were for wadcutters.)
Natural Jelly may be my best choice but I'm looking for a Shea Butter lube that's easier to prepare, store and quick to shoot in either winter or summer.
Hi gm501, 🙂
I agree with Justn_Otherguy. You probably need to refrigerate it. It's pretty much impossible to manually insert shea butter at around 75F/23.8C and higher in temperature. It goes in very easily in small refrigerated chunks dug out with a spoon. No need to shape them into balls as you will just make it melt further. Just make sure the size of the shea butter chunks are not too large, and insert them slowly so it has a chance to melt a little bit as it goes in so as to lubricate your anus. Using other lube on your fingers to handle the shea butter is optional, it hasn't been necessary for me. But you will still have some melted on your fingers afterward the lube and Aneros insert routine. Here's the trick to easy washing. Wipe off as much as possible with some tissue paper. Then using hot water in the sink without burning yourself, allow any leftover excess to melt off first before applying soap. Then the rest washes off very easily, often times in only one soap application. Apply this same technique to washing your Aneros after the session also.
Hello newbie2009, 🙂
It's like anything else in life. If you make the process too difficult or time consuming, you won't use it. Shaping it like you are doing is entirely un-necessary. It's not the shape that's important. The only time I attempt any sort of shaping, is during the fall, winter, spring when the temperatures are lower and I keep the shea butter at room temp so it's not as firm as it would be refrigerated. But still, the process is more about just clumping some together at the end of a finger so I can push it in. Not about making it perfectly round. I've had some very odd shaped refrigerated chunks of shea butter go in my anus. It feels a little funny going in... But unless you can't relax your anus enough, or are just jamming it in there as fast as you can, there should be no problem.

NB09, of course I read the Shea Butter thread – I wrote the initial response in January and I still use almost the identical procedure! I still have not found a better product to use in this endeavor than The Butter.
A couple of notes: The AAA Shea Butter isn’t as naturally chunky as the Alafia Shea Butter. In fact, almost all the Shea Butters are slightly different consistency from manufacturer to manufacturer. I guess that’s what “triple filtering” will get you.
I never had to refrigerate the Alafia, but I have to refrigerate the AAA. In addition, I tried melting The Butter and injecting it once – turned out way to messy.
Additionally, I don’t insert two shaped balls anymore. I insert one big carved out chunk as suggested by Darwin on page 2 of this thread to avoid getting my fingers too tacky. One raisin sized chunk lasts me many hours. Start of prep to “Welcome back my sexy friend” is under 5 minutes. If my preparation wasn’t pleasant and efficient I’d of lost my patience months ago.

Tks guys for the suggestion and your revised technique. AFAIC it's gotta be precise, simple and quick when I'm ready to lube.
I'm seeing the same thing as J4 did with AAA. Kept in the beerbox in the Den (about 42deg. F) a spoon produces just a firm ribbon of the butter. I've been dropping that ribbon in a shot glass and either nuking it a bit or adding a softening agent. Then, suck it into an injector.
I've tried three softening agents. So far haven't found one I like as well as softened 100% Sheabutter. After I get settled down from the Castor Oil experiment (figure a week for the gut to stabilize) will try some Sesame Oil and see how that plays over the range of 42-85 deg.
I've made a handful of modified lube shooters (to handle thick stuff). Plan is to periodically mix a batch of 'shootable' lube, load up the shooters and refrigerate them. Wanna lube? ...grab a loaded shooter and let it soften while in the shower ... etc.
Tks again J4 for hawking me on this.
I guess I'll have to give the Shea another try by refrigerating it first. It's not an easy option for me tho because of my living situation. Would it work to cut off the chunks at room temperature, put them in a little plastic bag and pop them in the freezer for a few minutes?
Thanks for the feedback.
Hi gm501, 🙂
Would it work to cut off the chunks at room temperature, put them in a little plastic bag and pop them in the freezer for a few minutes?
I bet that would work just fine. Small pieces shouldn't take long to harden. You could also try darwin's technique of immersing some shea butter in a cold glass of water to harden it. There's always options! 😀

Small note on the Sesame+Shea trial. Easy to blend with Shea Butter. Nice and slippery. Quite aromatic! I achieved a significant blood level of the aroma in less than 30 minutes. Very distracting from my session.
Brand was Dynasty from Japan. This brand is supposedly less aromatic than Sesame Oil from Chinese producers.
I whipped up a batch of Rumel's 'Natural Jelly' last night. All I can say is Wow! Thank you Rumel! I give your recipe two thumbs up in every category I can think of: Slick & feels nice, lasts on an overnight session, easy cleanup, easy application, edible (tastes ok). I'm absolutely amazed that only a small amount of this jelly is needed to go the distance. I went from 6-9cc (total, 2-3 applications) of Probe-TR & KY to roughly 0.5cc (one application) of Natural Jelly for a 12+ Hr session!
I didn't have Shea Butter on hand, but I'm going to order the AAA brand and add it to the mix on my next batch.
Does anyone have a good source for the AAA Brand? I was considering this: Amazon.com: 100% Unrefined Certified Grade A Shea Butter 4 oz.: Beauty
This is quite a popular thread! I'm curious as to how many people have tried Rumel's 'Natural Jelly' recipe and what your results were?
As I was reading the directions, I wondered if people might be confused as to what a "double boiler setup" is. I happen to have some lab gear on hand (Ring stand, clamp, beaker), so this was easy for me to setup on the stove with a 1qt saucepan full of water.
My setup cost about $25 and makes it a dream to whip up the Natural Jelly. If you're interested, I purchased the gear from CR Scientific (RingStands and Beakers) The stand and clamp holds the beaker submerged about an inch in the pan of boiling water. You have to rotate the clamp around to the other side of the stand, everything is light enough so stability isn't a problem.
My order:
C150 - Support stand, 5x8" cast iron base with 3/8" x 20" rod - $10.99
C300 - Extension clamp / flask clamp - $7.99
C650 - Clamp holder, right angle, aluminum. - $3.89
Beaker, low form, Bomex brand, 100 mL - $2.69
I used extra virgin olive that has a dark green color. My jelly turned out to be light lime green in color. The color was a bit odd at first, but it helps to gauge how much jelly you really have on the aneros and/or your finger. I quick coat on the aneros and half a pea sized dollup on your finger to push/coat your anus and you are good to go for the night!
Enjoy the Journey,
Marty
Hey tks MartyB for the source on lab glass,
First off, which 'Natural Jelly' recipe are you using. The one in the Wiki ??
edit ... just checked back on the thread and found the link -- thanks again.. gosh you do good work !!
Hmmm, sounds like a major chem-lab is in operation. Definitely gonna clue the DEA goons in on this Enterprise. Watch for black helicopters circling MartyB's twenty!! LOL
Also used Amazon to order AAA. Delivery ran over three weeks due to some 'back order' situation. I think it may have been a legit delay rather than just a sporadic excuse as several emails did provide periodic/updated order status. The fulfillment house was "AAA Shea Butter Company." No clue if they will accept direct orders other than via their Amazon storefront. Their ratings on Amazon are generally excellent so my experience was probably the exception rather than the rule. Price on AAA is a bit steep at $ 25/lb. Nice package though --- a screw-top tub... so it does stay fresh in the frig.
However... As others noted, AAA 'spawls' out of the container in a ribbon rather than coming out in easy-to-handle chunks. This makes measurement a guessing game unless one has a chemical balance or postage scale.
Based on the last posts from J4 And Love_is, re: the handling properties of Alafia versus AAA, I'm tempted to go with some other brand (Alafia ??) for my next order.
Tks too for the Olive Oil suggestion. Since it looks like I'm sensitive to aromatic oils up the butt, I'll skip the EVOO and stay with the less sophisticated regular Olive oil--that worked well for me a couple of weeks ago before the ill-fated Castor Oil and Sesame Oil experiments.
I found a local source for "NOW Foods Shea Butter 100% Natural". I'm not sure if there is a difference between the 100% Pure (other than it isn't pure) and the 100% Natural, but I have a good feeling about the Natural one. The container and the verbage on it can be read Here. It was a bit flakey as Love_is describes. It was easy enough to fix this by heating.
...

Nope, no scales or balances. I heat up the shea butter, in its original container, in a pan of almost boiling water (careful, the container floats nicely at first and then tips over when the shea butter becomes liquid). Then use a measuring spoon when it is a liquid.
Enjoy the slippery journey,

My first experience with shea was early June when I bought from a local Health Food, Herb, Greeting Card, Candle and Candy shop. (She also sells the 'fish' flags that one flies on the birthdates of sons. If she finds out about Love-is's Full Moon Club, she'll probably have a flag to fly for that too. 😯 😛 🙁
That stuff was also "100% natural." It was packed in 1/4 pound packages like butter cubes -- and when warmed was obviously perfumed (so it wasn't really 100% of anything, but rather 100% of everything). What was that that Barnum said about one being born every minute?
Hi MartyB, 🙂
That's cool that rumel's natural jelly recipe works for you. My experience with his recipe was not ideal because I could not follow the ingredients exactly because I wanted as non-refined, and natural ingredients as possible. And also being vegan I will not use bee's wax. The end result was very slushy at room temperature. In hindsight, had I kept the jar in the refrigerator to keep it solid for easy application, it may have been very usable. Although I don't know how well the lubrication properties of it would have been compared to following rumel's recipe exactly. The deal breakers for me were the initial costs involved, the time and effort to make it, the terrible consistency at room temperature, and the strong smell of coconut from the unrefined coconut oil I used. Once I tried the shea butter alone, and realized how well it worked. It was not to difficult to come to the conclusion that it was much easier to buy the shea butter alone, already prepared for you to use for Aneros session.
Mind you, this is not to discourage people from trying rumel natural jelly recipe. As many guys here have tried it, and swear by it for a good lubricant that is not filled with chemicals. Just make sure you follow the ingredients and instructions exactly as he specifies.
Does anyone have a good source for the AAA Brand? I was considering this: http://www.amazon.com/100%25-Unrefined-Certified-Grade-Butter/dp/B000GRENPA/
Amazon is acting as a middle man for these companies. Most of the time you can buy direct from them.
http://www.aaasheabutter.com
Although the Now Foods brand is an exception, as they do not sell directly from their web site. Although they do have a "Store Finder" page on their web site to find a local source to purchase from. Without having tried both, I suspect the Now Foods and AAA shea butter are similar in consistency. So you should be fine with either.
By the way, you can disregard Now Foods warning about not microwaving it in it's original container. The foil seal is what you remove when you first open the container. Once you've thrown that away, you can safely microwave it in its container in small increments of 10 to 15 seconds. Make sure to check the consistency after each heating, as the top layer is the last to melt which can fool you. I usually can stir it after the second heating. Although it usually requires three heating applications to get it to stir mostly smooth.
I'm not sure if there is a difference between the 100% Pure (other than it isn't pure) and the 100% Natural, but I have a good feeling about the Natural one.
Yeah, the wordage isn't as exact as I would like it. I suspect the marketing department got a hold of it and twisted in a way that made sense to their own reality. What seals the deal for me is:
Contains no: chemical preservatives or artificial colors. No solvents are used during extraction.
This product is guaranteed to be 100% Natural. Hexane-Free.
Nope, no scales or balances. I heat up the shea butter, in its original container, in a pan of almost boiling water (careful, the container floats nicely at first and then tips over when the shea butter becomes liquid).
I've never tried heating it that way, but good to know that you need to keep an eye on it.

Hello People, 🙂
A quick update.
So all summer I have had my shea butter kept in the refrigerator to keep it firm enough to insert in solids chunks. Now that the weather is cooling in the northern hemisphere, I've been keeping it at room temperature a few times. What I've found, is that I much prefer it to be refrigerated into it's solid form. There is much less waste during insertion into my anus and rectum, as it is solid enough to get most of it inside with little smearing on the outside. Thus it lasts longer because I use less for each session. So in the refrigerator it stays! 😀
Love_is
After trying most of the Shea Butter methodologies, I've settled on this one as quick, easy, not wasteful and easy to cleanup.
You'll need a small tapered whiskey shot glass with a rounded bottom inside, a small melon-ball scoop and a cocktail muddler (Helix, MGX, SGX or Eupho is the ideal muddler - Progasm's a tad large butt I only use it as a 'finishing tool.' 😈 😀
Two to four small (3/8") scoops of shea butter in shot glass -- soften in microware -- add 1/3t - 1/2t of coconut oil. Muddle vigorously with tool. Suck into lube shooter. Lube. Use tool to 'scrape' remaining lube from shotglass. Smear tool. Enjoy!
I started using shea butter a short time ago - I bought it from NOW foods (from amazon then I found out I could buy it locally). I own a Helix and Progasm.
What works for me is to keep it in the fridge all the time.
I chip out a few raison sized chunks when it's semi hard.
I put about 4 of them into my anus while they are still cool and haven't melted, I don't waste any time and they go in easily that way.
Then I put a little water based lube on the aneros to help insert it.
It easily lasts throughout my session.
Hope this helps...
Hello Everyone, 🙂
So my most recent jar of NOW shea butter was crumbly and gritty. So I ended up melting and stirring it. Be careful with doing this. It appears that you can actually "overcook" the shea butter. Which I accidentally did in the microwave. When it solidified, it was much more firm, not gritty, and less crumbly. But also the melting point has increased so that body temperature only makes it into a thick grease consistency. Which I think is too thick, more for the rectal lubrication aspect of it. But also it makes insertion of the shea butter really difficult as it does not melt easily or quickly to allow the chunk of shea butter to be pushed with little difficulty into the rectum.
So if you are going to do this. Only melt it enough so that it is a thick creamy consistency, and then take it off the heat source. Then just stir it until everything is smooth.
Love_is
I have found that when heating/cooking in a microwave, run it the least possible time necessary to heat it, then leave it in the microwave for a minute or three without opening the door. It seems to allow the product to steep, heating it more evenly. Then remove from microwave and stir it thoroughly.
After reading alv's suggestions on this, I finally settled on a 70/30 mix of Shea & Coconut Oil. Being paranoid about product cleanliness, I "pasteurize" this mix in a double boiler (170deg. F for 5 minutes) and ladle out 3ml portions of into whiskey shot glasses and refrigerate them.
For use, warm the shot glass, suck out 2.5ml with a lube shooter. The remaining 0.5ml gets smeared on the tool. The shot glass makes a good parking place for a second "finishing tool" on the night stand.
Hello everyone,
Great to be here among some enlightened minds. Glad some people actually made some wise decisions about what they chose to insert into their anus. Those petrol derivatives are for the birds. I highly doubt the data on those products is reliable. Anyway.......
I recently bought some organic unrefined shea butter under the brand O ut of A frica. It was about $20 for five ounces.
From what I am hearing, I am having to use way too much to get a good, slick, range of free motion inside myself. I have the MGX, and I'd say that I could mold about more than half the thing out of shea with the amount I use. It is just too thin. I use about two balls that are about 1/3 the size of the SGX, and then apply a generous amount to the SGX itself.
I am going to try to heat it, and let it cool as some have suggested, but it really has a nice light shade to it as is, and appears to be of good quality. Think it is just inherently too thin for this particular use.
I am think I am going to attempt to use some beeswax on the SGX itself.
I should be feeling it moving totally freely inside of myself correct? When I first insert it, it is moving great, but then as it melts off the SGX it seems to have trouble moving and the sensation is killed. The aneros should be freely moving at all times correct? You should feel it sliding around always, right? So, there is another brand to add to the list and what one user's experience is with it.
You guys think I should try using more, or use it in a different manner? Any experiences much appreciated, thanks.
freeanalenergy,
I am sitting in my study just outside Melbourne, where I can see several types of birds. Principal amongst these is a species called an Indian Minah, generally considered a serious pest. I find myself musing over the effect on its flying performance if it had a large plug of petroleum jelly shoved up its backside!
After some months of research, I found a local source of unrefined Shea Butter on the internet. From what I have read on this thread, my supply is very reasonably priced at about $32 for 500gm (including postage). At a conservative estimate, I think I would have at least a year's supply.
On receipt, I divided it into three containers which live in my bar fridge. From one of these, I have taken about 50gm, which I keep in a small jar for ‘ready use’, but not stored in the fridge. From that, I make a ball, about the size of a small broad bean. The ball is placed on a little metal plate, and kept in the freezer of the same fridge ready for my next night’s activities.
Come time to use it, I first inject about 2ml water-based lube into my rectum and then insert the said ball using my finger. Since it is frozen, it is easy to insert and makes absolutely no mess. Probably within no more than a couple of minutes, it is ready to do its job. I also put a thin film of Shea Butter from my ready use jar onto whichever Aneros model has been chosen for that night.
A bonus is that there is no evidence of residue after the session has been finished. Total time for preparation would be no more than a couple of minutes.
Probably the one advantage I have here is that there is a bar fridge in my study, next to the bedroom.

I think it would die fast, most birds can't tolerate chemicals, lol.

Hmm, looks like I am using way to much, but you also use water-based lube, so.... Maybe I am expecting too much of my shea butter. I saw another post about how some members are using small balls about the size of a p-tab and then coating the aneros. My shea can't be that bad. Maybe it can, experimentation will tell.
Maybe I should have added that I only inject just enough water-based lube to ease the insertion of the Aneros. As far as I'm concerned, the real task of the lube is carried by the Shea Butter.
Hello freeanalenergy, 🙂
There may be differences in consistency between different brands of shea butter, depending on how filtered it is. Also, I have noticed with the NOW brand that I use that sometimes the top half inch or so is a lighter consistency than further into the jar. I suspect this happens when it has gone through a number of ambient temperature variations after being jarred and the consistency starts to change. I suppose it is also entirely possible that the brand you are using is not so good. Definitely try a different brand next time.
Yes, your Aneros should be lubed sufficiently so that it moves freely within you at all times during the session. And in my experience, shea butter does a much better job of lubrication, and keeping me lubed than the previous water based lube I used(Astroglide).
If it is helpful at all there is a good thread about different types of lubes that details my experiences of discovering shea butter that might be helpfull to you.

Starting with my post on 11-08-2008 01:12 AM, is where I start talking about just using shea butter.
Hello badger, 🙂
Thank you for letting us know your heating procedure. I guess I probably get a bit impatient when I'm doing it. I'm thinking that I'm going to try putting the jar in a pot of water on medium heat next time so I can watch it while it heats.
Hello rook, 🙂
What in your opinion is the advantage of mixing the shea and coconut butter together that you don't get from them individually?
Love_is
Well, to be honest, it's actually my cooking/reheating/thawing procedure. I've not had the opportunity to use shea butter or coconut oil yet. But heating is heating. It's an odd characteristic of microwave ovens; letting them set an "stew" for a while in the oven.
First, regarding amounts. I've tried a couple of variations on the the J4/Love_is/Pommie approach (for awhile I was using a .357 caliber bullet mold to make Shea Butter suppositories.) I think the guys who 'shove in' a couple of 'wads' of Shea are using about one ml., total. As Love_is once suggested, the suppository/bullet approach is labor intensive and while it worked I opted for a lube-shooter approach.
I like to err on the side of too much; and, draw up about 2.5ml in the shooter, probably loosing 0.5ml as waste.
My costs are close to Pommie's. About us$25 for a 16oz. container of AAA Shea and us$13 for a pint of Coconut Oil. However, a quart of lube is probably good for a year or two. No more expensive than buying three pints of water based lube.
Second, how I got into Coconut Oil.
I prefer injecting a pre-lube and was looking for an vegetable additive to Shea that would keep it fluid over a wider range of temperatures. (So far, I'm still looking.)
After trying several vegetable, seed and nut oils and butters, I saw alv's post and ordered a jar of Coconut Oil. So far, it's the best vegetable oil I've found to use with Shea. However, I want to revisit Castor Oil -- I had given it a thumbs-down but several other guys in the Forum have since spoken favorably about it
I really like the 'fluidity' and 'slip' of pure Shea Butter, and the Coconut oil doesn't seem to have a negative effect on that. The Coconut Oil slightly reduces my anal 'purchase' on the stems of Helix and Eupho as opposed to straight Shea Butter. (put a different way, I seem to have a better grasp with pure shea.)
I was looking for a vegetable substance that would be fluid between room temp and body temp. At 70/30, there's not an useful change in melting temp or granularity but I've got a year's worth on ice so continue to use it. I've not seen an issue when I inject barely melted shea that's granular -- I think that granularity vanishes very quickly at body temperature.
One attribute of fat/oil based lubes is that they improve anal sphincter lubrication. Some months back, the Forum had a discussion about the amount of natural lube various guys produced. I came away from that chat feeling that I was on the lefthand (dry assed) end of the bell shaped curve.
I was OK with that, believing that, "a dry ass is a clean ass." Then I made my first attempts at aneroless sessions. I began to appreciate the 'joys of a greasy ass.' The Coconut Oil component tends to hang around for a day or so and that makes it easy to take care of a tough case of butt-buzz without prepping for, and carrying out, an aneros session.
So, to sum it up for the dry-assed guy, who's at an intermediate point on the rewiring process, a Coconut+Shea blend for sessions might provide some "next day" benefits.
[As a sidelight, it may be interesting to see how all this works out during the '2010 Jock Itch season.']
Hello Folks, 🙂
I've got some interesting information to pass along. A couple days back I ran out of the Now Foods shea butter I use, and figured as usual I'd go to my local health food store and buy a new jar. When to my shock and horror there was none there!!! It seemed to have been replace by some organic shea butter that was selling for $18 a jar, and from looking at the tester looked to be pure white. The organic part is likely a bunch of marketing bull. As these the karite trees that the shea nut comes from grow wild in Africa. So I ended up buying the Alaffia brand unscented shea butter, since some other users here seemed to have liked it.
And I have to say that I am seriously disappointed with this shea butter. The texture is nice and smooth, and melts fairly easily, and is probably more appropriate for skin and hair application. And that's about all the nice things I can say about it.
Besides paying the same price for less than a third of what I get with the Now Foods brand. I also confirmed on two separate sessions that this shea butter causes a burning sensation in my anus or rectum, much like the glycerin based lubes do. This is a real session killer. And after about twenty minutes the discomfort killed any pleasure, thus ending the session. The other two shea butters I've used do not do this to me. In addition, the other problem is that the consistency is all wrong. This Alaffia shea butter melts completely into a light oil consistency. Which I've verified by observing what the Aneros looks like after removing it from my anus, and what comes out when I sit on the toilet. In addition, I find the smell to be too strong for me.
For all the time I've been using unrefined 100% shea butter, this is only the third brand I've tried. I've mostly been using the Now Foods brand because it has worked very well for me. The reason this is, is because of it's consistency. When it melts at body temperature, depending on the batch, it turns into a heavy oil to light grease consistency. Which is what makes it do such a good job lubing my anus and rectum.
So my point of this post is to let people know that the type of shea butter they are looking for is of a pale yellow color to white color. The Now Foods brand is pale yellow. Although it looks white from the top when you first open the jar until you start digging into it. And it gets slightly darker in yellow color as you get closer to the bottom of the jar. Worse comes to worse, you could use a pure white shea butter. But I suspect this is completely filtered stuff, but the consistency may be right.
Unfortunately for me, as I've done more reading on the processing of shea butter, it turns out that any filtering of the butter no longer makes it unrefined. (So there seems to be a lot of leeway, or lies in how shea butter is marketed and sold) And likely that is how pale yellow to white shea butter is produced that seems to be the type of shea butter that is useful for anal lube. Although the Now foods brand claims no hexane is used to filter, so I'm guessing clay filtering is used. Which I'd hope to be healthier than hexane.
It's important to keep in mind that only having tried three brands, I may be going out on a limb about my conclusions of what kind of shea butter works and what doesn't. So I'd certainly be interested to have some feedback as to what sort of body temperature melted consistency other shea butter users are getting, in addition to what color it is, with the brand(s) they are using. And whether they like it or not. Thanks.

I buy mine here,
Just got 3 jars from this UK provider and the collor is very light yellow.
They are certified fairtrade.
Maybe you should buy a small sample to test it,i think it's good anyway.
