Sleeping with my Aneros: Why not?

Hi all,

I'm about a year on-and-off into experimenting with my Aneros (Helix Syn), and I haven't really had any life-changing experiences (super-o's, etc.) yet. I don't have many opportunities to use my Aneros; so when I do, I almost always leave it in overnight to get the most out of my sessions.

I usually lay on my side for about 30-45 minutes of mild pleasure, get bored, go to sleep, wake up, and then try to focus on my prostate for another 30-45 minutes or so. It seems that most people around here keep their sessions at around 1-2 hours, but does anyone else regularly sleep with their Aneros? I find that I'm horniest in the morning, but mornings usually aren't the most ideal time to begin Aneros sessions for me.

Anyway, does anyone have any advice in favor or against sleeping with your Aneros? Thanks!

P.S. Perhaps worth noting, I've never really made any long-term effort to rewire. I tend to traditionally masturbate to edging levels, in hopes of enhancing my Aneros sessions later on in the night. I can't really say whether or not it's had any positive or negative effect, since I've only ever managed about two weeks without touching my penis.

Hi @hodgepodge and @MisterFantastic, Here is an extensive thread to your question about sleeping with the Aneros. It has many good answers:

Since the Aneros is actually a medical device, I have tried to follow closely Aneros Directions for Use information so as to have safe Aneros sessions.

While there are many supporters and practitioners of this technique (Aneros usage while sleeping), the anecdotal results are mixed at best. There are numerous threads on this Forum which address this topic. I don't wish to be an alarmist about this subject, but there have also been a few negative reports regarding this practice and the manufacturer does not recommend sleeping with it either. I hope you will take the time to read a few of these threads and then decide if you wish to pursue that practice, Sleeping With Aneros In? Please Read, Sleeping with the Aneros, Use while sleeping, Sleeping!, Going to sleep with Aneros? and Use while sleeping.

If you are determined to try this, here are a few suggestions :

  • Be sure you have a bowel movement before going to bed.
  • Make sure you are using a 'tailless' Aneros model.
  • Use a long lasting and copious amount of lubrication.
  • Provide protection for your bedding and linens in case of nocturnal accidents (expulsion of your Aneros along with some lube).
  • Remove your massager at the first signs of numbness or discomfort.

Good Vibes to You !

For those 'who must.' One more caution: Stick with Aneros tools that don't lock you into a 'super hard' nocturnal erection for an extended time during sleep. A forced priapsm can cause permanent penis damage.

My worst such 'newbie experience' was with a Progasm using water-based lube. I awakened with a dry rectum and canal and was trapped in a paiinful erection.

I still do an occasional 'sleep-over' but with my Helix-syn as a 'sleep buddy' and I use oil-based lubes. The Helix design puts most of it's bulk further up the prostate and away from the penis bulb, reducing the chance of a damaging priapsm.

And, avoid doing this when you are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs which might prevent your awakening if you get into an 'erectile lock-up'

As a beginner sleeping with it helped a lot: it got me from the point of "There's definitely something in there and I otta suck it up and make an effort to get used to the sensation if I want to progress" to the incredible "Whoa! I no longer feel it in there, it's just a part of my body now!! Free to focus on other things now!" in just one week. This transition helps a lot with relaxation and by sleeping with it I think I might have cheated a good deal of learning sessions. 😮

@rummel 's advice is sound: do use a plastic sheet (for example fold one of these thin vinyl table covers) on that area of your bed to protect from whatever leakage might come out of your back (it will if you use a long lasting one) and bowel movement shouldn't even be mentioned, it goes without saying. During six nights of sleep with it it never popped out, quite the opposite: the MGX found itself a place there and it became a part of the area.
