Hello everyone. I am posting this message to see if I am alone in it becoming almost IMPOSSIBLE to insert the prostate massager. I am brand new to all of this, and have no previous experience with anal. I believe I have read all through the forums, and have not found a similar discussion, so here goes.....

I bought my helix as a possible therapeutic device for non-bacterial prostatitis. Before I had received it I had done extensive research on the use of the product, and even bought lube with the order. The first night I tried it, it actually went in. I was kind of shocked and relieved when it got into place automatically, albeit after about an hour and twenty minutes of trying. The experience wasn't bad, it wasn't good, and I kept it in for about 15 minutes until I removed it. I was satisfied that I knew what to experience in the future and would go into my second session knowing what to expect.

The second time I tried the helix it went in as well, in about the same amount of time. I would have to remove it and reapply lube a few times, but just as I was about to give up- it went right into place. Just like before I got it about half-way in, and my body did the rest. I kept it in longer this time, since the sensation was not completely foreign to me. Still wasn't pleasurable, but that's not the reason I bought it. I thought if anything that feels good happens, itll just be a bonus.

So, now to my issue. I have tried using the massager no less than 8-10 times after that, I for the life of me I cannot get it to go into place. I can get it to just about the second hump, and I can feel a tightness that says "don't push this thing any more". I am careful to be gentle, and can push it in a little at a time up to that point, but that's it. I even bought the MGX thinking that it might be easier, but all attempts have failed with that as well. The lube I use is KY, and I apply it generously onto the massager and with my finger. All of my attempted sessions have lasted more than an hour, most around an hour and a half. I've tried lying on my side, my back, standing, squatting, etc. I can get my finger in from the beginning no problem, but the massager will not budge at a certain point. I have also tried taking several long deep breaths, and that works up to a point, but it still will not budge.

So finally my question is, is this common for a beginner to go through this many attempts before insertion gets easier? I thought it was strange that my first two attempts were successful, and now it is basically impossible. It seems from the posts I have read that this isn't a problem for everyone else, and I've read the wiki top to bottom several times looking for assistance, but nothing seems to work for me.

If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You might find that "pushing out" at the same time as you're "pushing it in" may relax the sphincters sufficiently.

Hi this is a quick reply. I have not fully read your post. I will later when I have time.
I think I have had the same problem.
I have found that I have been inserting my ( mgx and helix) at the wrong angle. So it does not get to the inner sphincter but is angled too much to the front and is pushed into the area between the BC muscle and the prostate and is off line with the inner sphincter. I find my right angle is to insert the aneros with the P tab almost touching the pereneum (spelling?). The aneros are angled forward and I have not taken this into account. If I angle it backwards and get it right the aneros is sucked in by itself. I hope this helps or gives you an idea of changing the insertion angle.

lay on your side with legs slightly bent. Try inserting the mgx the wrong way, with the handle going where the p-tab should. This alows you to insert it easier , atleast for me . After you have inserted and removed it several times, your sphincter should be relaxed enough for you to insert it the proper way.

Hi again
Thank you for your post. I has helped me so much. It has made it very clear to me that I had been inserting the aneros at the wrong angle. My experience was not as bad as yours but was worrying. So I had a session after my previous reply. I followed my own advice to the letter and changed the angle and had the tab almost touching the perineum and inserted in a sort of arcing motion using the tab as the centre. (Not explaining this very well). It was the best insertion I have ever had. It just slid in before I knew it. It was so easy and natural that later in the session I swapped over to another one and using the same procedure it also just slid in.
I had recently being sort of pushing the aneros into a sort of pocket in front of the sphincter. It helped if I pushed down but it hurt a bit and this gave rise to worry. Now it is so good.
I have totally given up on the water based lubricants. I find they are not slick enough, lack body, seem to disagree with me, dry out and the after smell I don't like. I use a mix of edible oil - my current favorite is castor oil, beeswax, Vit E, optional Shea butter. This is slippery, has body, lasts forever and has a mild neutral after smell. This may seem complicated but elsewhere in the site there are a couple of posts praising just coconut oil. This is super cheap. KY is good for an "in and out" like for a medical examination but IMO was not developed as a lubricant for the long aneros type sessions.
I hope some of this may be helpful. I can relate to the discomfort and the frustration. .
Probably too much information. I needed to write this to make what I found clear to me.

There really should be only a short distance between the external anal sphincter (the circular muscle that you can feel with your finger at the outer edge of the anus and that you control by tightening to prevent passage of stool) and the internal sphincter which basically really can't be "felt" with an inserted finger and which cannot be controlled at will, that is it opens involuntarily when your rectum fills with stool. There is no appreciable distance between the two and almost no way that the angle of an inserted object, e.g., an Aneros or a proctoscope for instance, could be varied so as to cause difficulty negotiating between the two.

Once the external sphincter is relaxed and a sufficiently lubricated object is inserted within it, the object should smoothly slide further inward with at most only slight variations in insertion angle unless there is something blocking it like a large firm stool or worst of all, and hopefully not the case here, though I have medically seen this, a cancerous rectal mass. Obviously, a mass that would present difficulty in inserting an appropriately sized lubricated object would cause difficulty with defecating solid stools and likely also would bleed some onto the stools that are passed.

Can you lubricate and insert your finger to as full a length as you can without difficulty? The smaller Aneros models are not much longer than that and should slide in easily if a finger can. Normally, the way basically all the Aneros models are shaped, once the the larger end of the massager gets fully inside the external sphincter, the massager will position itself automatically into a healthy, empty rectum.

I hope you can eventually have success though with this. Trying to relieve episodes of non-bacterial prostatitis is also how I got started using the Aneros products and they've been great for hemorrhoids too. Learning how to have prostate super-orgasms also has been great fun and a big benefit to my sex life with my wife

Very helpful. Thanks, and I'll try that next time. From what you described, I think we might have been having the same issue!

My finger goes through both sphincters pretty much from the beginning. I am hoping positioning might be the issue. I may also experiment with the coconut oil and other lubricants that have been mentioned.

And I'm glad and encouraged you have had some success with the prostatitis. As you know it can be a huge issue, and I look forward to hopefully having the same result. If you haven't gone already, the website that led me here is www.prostate-massage-and-health.com. There you can find a great deal of info in prevention and treatment. Good luck!

Best of luck. These instructions should work well for you. Just remember it is completely natural, and to relax. Then enjoy the ride.

If your finger can slip through both sphincters and up into your rectum comfortably to the full length you can insert it, then you should have no problem with the Aneros. You may simply be having trouble relaxing with the Aneros. "Warm up" so to speak with your finger first, then gently slip the Aneros in.

Picking up on Aztec comments. I would like to make a correction to my reply. It is probable that I was getting past the second sphincter as he says. But with an enlarged prostate I think I was hitting against it or between it and the BC (bulbus) muscle and it was difficult and painful to go further. Once I stopped restarted with a changed angle the Aneros slid past what ever was in the way and all was well. It worked best if I recommended the insertion. I think I sort of bruised where ever it was getting caught. The sphincter muscle was pulling in a well which did not help! With the change of angle it now feels quite natural. When we are advised to put the aneros in in reverse it is changing the angle. *I like to get it right from the start. Thanks you your post I can now do this.

Thank you for that url for prostate health. I glanced at it. I hope to find there some help with ED. Actually, since using Aneros for 2 years I have been having some success with getting an erection, although I have to quickly put a cock ring on to hold it, with more or less success and hardness. I consider mine caused by 49 years with diabetes. Poor circulation can be a result. This site doesn't seem to admit diabetes as such, but poor circulation, yes. I use cayenne pepper with what I consider my aphrodesiac herbs, because, as the author says, it has a reputation for enhancing the results of herbs. Ginger is said to have the same effect, and I take that too. It also is an antidote to nausea, which is caused by one of my diabetes pill, Metformin, which was prescribed to help injected insulin work better, and seems to be so.

Bit off the topic
I have found L-Arginine to give me night erections which are a bit of a surprise. I think it is known as poor mans Viagra. It may also be combined with the Aneros massage.

Yes. L-Arginine is on the list of herbs I have been taking for a few years now. In another thread I have mentioned that I get them at www.swansonvitamins.com at what I think good prices. I consider them reliable. A list of them come at their menu list for sexual health, and another named men's health. I don't have a list with me since I am traveling. One of my favorites is Horny Goat Weed! Green Oats or also called something Sativa (can't think of the first word.) Tribulus, is another, and of course Gensing. Nettle root and leaves, and I also use the leaf tea as well as the capsules.
