The forum bugged out or something when I tried to post this on mobile and it didn't actually post, so here goes again...

Hi everyone!

First post here, I’m a young guy who has been using Aneros products for a few years now and while I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey this far, I also feel as though my ability to relax and FOCUS have been severely limited due to ADHD.

A little background: All sessions start off strong for me, good pleasure and hard as a rock erections; since it wasn’t always that way, those are things that show that my patience with the device is paying off greatly. The problem is, my focus inevitably dissipates without any sort of segue or reasoning, as things happen with ADD. I’m in tons of pleasure with a nice build up, and suddenly I realize I’m thinking of very non-sexual things and not things that are stress related. Things like “Man I really enjoyed this super random moment during vacation last year” or “Wow I can’t wait to set up those LED light strips on my desk!” So yeah... Not at all a stress related loss of focus or depression or anything just being taken completely out of the moment by my brain, even during some of the more intense moments of pleasure that I’ve experienced.

The recommendation to have sessions while you’re feeling your best and good on sleep is unfortunately a no go in my case as the better I feel and the more sleep I’ve gotten, the less control I have over my thoughts. My best sessions are after midnight when I’m tired and my brain becomes more relaxed and it’s less willing to dig up random thoughts. However, this also has its downsides as you can imagine, because being sleepy means you might just not be into it for super long. I’ve had two of what I assume to be calm seas orgasms during late night sessions (very spaced apart) but for them to accumulate in such a thing is like a perfect storm that seems impossible to ever understand exactly what was done “right.”

I've opted to stay away from typically prescribed medications because I don't like the way they make me feel when they wear off, but I also haven't tried to have a session while on meds so maybe that would be helpful in some way.

Anyway, I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts on this, and if anyone else has ADHD and has a similar experience to mine I’d love to hear about it. For those who have ADHD and have overcome it to experience the potential of the Aneros devices to a great extent, I’d also love to hear your input for a person like me who has progressed yet feels like they’ve hit a wall because of this.

P.S. Thank you all so much for this resource. This forum has been super helpful over the years and even though I just now registered as a user, I know most of your names and respect you all like crazy!

If I use the avatar drop down menu,it posts an empty erm.. post lol.
I’m no dr,but a wandering mind is more common than you think, many have testified to this.
Some members use weed to help them relax, maybe that’s something you could look into yourself. I’ll add that if you find certain times of the day better than others, then go with what suits you.

I don’t have ADHD and my mind is all over the place over thinking and getting distracted during sessions. This may not be rare. I try to be an observer during a session and sometimes that helps. Or giving my brain an assignment to focus on an aspect of the session. There must be many other workarounds that might help.

I don't know if you realize this but such statements are part of your dilemma, in effect you are programming yourself to have that experience.

Please read the thread Aneros and an 'Optimal' mind state? for some direction on dealing with your 'mind noise' issue, an issue all too common for we Aneros users, including myself.

Good Vibes to You!

Welcome to the forum as an active member!

i don’t have diagnosed ADHD but I do have a very active and chatty brain. While it can get in the way, it also helps because years of having an active imagination when I am bored seem to have translated well to self-arousal and erotic fantasy. But this lack of control can sometimes create strange situations. Like, in the height of orgasmic pleasure, my thoughts may wander to absurdly mundane places with respect to what is going on.  I might think “I wonder if that one forum member ever put up those led light strips on his desk...”

Maybe it is possible to harness the power of your active brain for arousal by having actively sexy thoughts.  Maybe you can practice meditation before a session to calm down.  And maybe the answer lies elsewhere as well, and you will find that brain chatter isn’t necessarily what’s been blocking you all along.

And why not just try with the medication for a limited amount of sessions? If it means a few hangovers, is that really a problem if it might mean breakthroughs? My experience with drugs and prostate play is that whatever I experience on drugs is something I can recreate without after. That is, drugs open the door, but the door doesn’t close once I come down... plus, in my experience those ADHD drugs make me really horny.

@learningtounlearn just needs a handful of simple concepts to build upon. Some can knock this out of the park right away and it takes longer for others, and this included me. @rumel your post was really well meaning, but it cracked me up as I was opening it. It was like opening a series of Russian dolls or like doing research for a graduate school level course. For anyone who has an overactive mind, and this includes me, an overwhelming supply of information is not helpful. I by no means want to offend anyone, and everyone here is trying to help others, but for the minority of us who are overthinkers, too much information and standard approaches can create more confusion and reinforce being stuck.

@learningtounlearn

I'm a little older than you, it took me a long time but I accepted my overthinking as being part of me. Sometimes it's really useful and sometimes it's a pain in the ass. Maybe there's a little of that in your situation, where you feel the medication would change you in some way, and you prefer being "the real you".

I get those "I wonder how many trash bags are left in the box, I might need to buy more soon" brilliant ideas during sessions and forget I'm even having a session. One thing is to never get frustrated when it happens, just try to return to where you where and resume from there, that's something you can work on. Just like taking a pee break during a session, it's something that just happens, don't let it ruin things, deal with it and go back to having fun.

Since you have a diagnostic and medication, I'd suggest going right ahead and trying a session with the meds, at the very least you'll learn some new things. Learn about your medication, what the half-life is, when it peaks, make this a part of the session. As an overthinker I get great satisfaction when I can finally "solve" something, trying this would be fascinating and exciting for me. Maybe it can be the same for you. Basically, overthinking about something productive can be very powerful. Think Sherlock Holmes.

And yeah, sessions are better when you're happy and rested, having them when you're tired just so your brain can shut up robs you off all the super wacky fantasies and reflexions your overactive mind can produce for you. Play to your strengths here. Don't try to "overcome" yourself. Look up "ADD and hyperfocus".
