Problem with syn toys and lube

Hi, so I have few plastic toys and helix syn. For plastic ones I use cocoa butter/liquid silk or just liquid silk, which is a silicone based lube. It works pretty great.

I tried using coconut oil or cocoa butter for helix syn, but it just doesn't feel great. It feels like it dries out around the ring - I tried using various amount of lube and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I always prelube.

I tried few water based lubes before, but they really didn't do anything for me, except sometimes they would make me feel like I have to use the bathroom.

I would really like to get some advice on it, preferably with cheap/easily accessible solution.

Did you try my trick I recommended to you on your last thread, of pulling the toy halfway out occasionally during sessions in order to redistribute the lubricant? Otherwise you can relube as needed during sessions. Other than silicone, there is no magic lube that lasts forever. And as far as cheap, oil is the only thing that doesn’t break the bank.

If you are being irritated by lube, consider dietary changes. I.e. food that keeps your crap solid and regular (you have to know your own body). Avoid spices and any other food that might be irritating you.  I have always found water based lubes irritating. A sex-shop salesperson told me the other day that I should use smaller quantities to avoid irritation.  I also recommend trying to use toys without prior anal douching, as it can contribute to the purge sensation with water-based lubes, and it reduces the natural mucus in the rectum.

I suggest you try applying 'Natural Jelly' formulation to your anus and your Helix SYN in addition to your preferred prelube (water or oil based). These compounds are safe for use with both the plastic and silicone Aneros models. I find these natural lubes are both long lasting and of sufficient lubricity to not hinder desired Aneros movement for long Anerosessions. As a side note, the 'Natural Jelly' formulation is very tenacious in its adherence to your massager due to the beeswax component.

Good Vibes to You!

I did try it, but it still isn't that great. I tried vaseline today, and it worked perfectly. Seems I solved the problem for now

I considered making my own oil based lube with wax, as I remembered your post from a long time, but for now seems like vaseline is working well enough. Thank's!

I’m happy you found something that works.

Coconu (brand) oil lube has many of the same ingredients as @rumel ‘s Natural Jelly.  It isn’t cheap, but it’s convenient and it is certified organic, if that is important to somebody.  It’s tenacious- the Helix Syn (V and Trident) is still shiny after a session is done.  I’ve been getting along with it fine for several weeks.  I had mild discomfort in my first Aneros tries.  Whether it was muscle tension, my lube formulation + my body, or a combination of the two, I’m happy that this lube got me back on the happy path.  Undoubtedly there are other valid options but leastwise, I am settled for now and I can simply enjoy.

Vaseline is great...but if we are talking syn models I am pretty sure that Vaseline will degrade them.

Vaseline is fine, I used it a lot when I started out with the Classics, but do consider trying other options later on. I don't know how old you are, let's say you're in you mid 30's and intend to use your Aneros long term, that would be decades of putting petroleum products inside you several times a week, it's up to you to decide if that sounds alright or not. Astroglide Gel is okay as far as water-based goes and it's thicker and pretty long lasting, but it does have some suspicious, hard to pronounce ingredients. The Natural Jelly recipe from @rumel is a great solution if pure oils don't last long enough for you, IMO it's the best solution.

I ordered some bees wax, so I'm going to try it out, but my question is - how do you actually use it (the lube)?  I noticed that even oils which have lower melting point than body temperature (coconut oil, cocoa butter) are solid at room temp, so with bees wax, the consistency will definitely be hard. Do you somehow warm it up before using it?

Which one from these 3 did you use? -  "3 tblsp. almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil"

It seems like only olive oil would have low enough melting point to make something close to vaseline at room temp when mixed with bees wax?

I advise you use it just like you would Vaseline, spread a thin layer on your Aneros device and apply a little to your anus to keep it moist and supple. You can then inject you prelube or overcoat your Aneros prior to insertion.

You are quite correct that oils like coconut, cocoa butter and shea butter combined with beeswax will be hard especially if refrigerated. Keeping your mixture at room temperature should be OK but even then it may be difficult to evenly coat your Aneros with a hardened mix. I suggest you don't use those particular oils for your Natural Jelly.

I used almond oil because it was already a little thicker than olive oil but remains viscous at room temperature whereas coconut oil does solidify at room temperature. You could use olive oil as well but you might need to add a little more beeswax to reach the same consistency as with almond oil. You may need to experiment with the mix ratios a bit to get a 'jelly' consistency that pleases you.

I use coconut oil, combined with the wax and if kept at room temperature, it will start to harden gradually over 2-3 days and will be close to unusable after 4. Your best bet is to mix tiny batches and use them almost immediately if you decide to use coconut oil. I find that it's the best smelling oil, extra-virgin olive oil for example can smell pretty pungent, but that's a matter of taste.

Thank you. But does the "jelly" consistency stay jelly when it warms up to body temperature? That's my biggest gripe with oil based lubes - they are just too damn thin for comfort. I ordered almond oil as well, so I'm excited to try your formula. Hope it's great 🙂

@pirontras

I am very interested to see how your experiments go, please keep us informed. I have been mixing coconut oil with ghee (clarified butter) to fairly decent effect, but do find I need to mix small quantities at a time as I think the mixture goes rancid after some time, (I am talking over a month) and then burns a little.

I don't mind the hard consistency of coconut oil, it means I can break off a little nugget and push that into my anus and let it melt inside of me.

I will. I wouldn't use ghee butter as it must be refrigerated and goes rancid pretty quickly. Coconut oil on the other hand doesn't really get bad (had the same can at room temp for over a year)

... does the "jelly" consistency stay jelly when it warms up to body temperature?

Maybe yes, maybe no, as it warms up it will become more viscous just as Vaseline will. Think about any time when you ate comb honey, once you extracted all the honey and were left chewing on the wax comb, did it melt away ? The viscosity is a function of the percentage of beeswax in your mixture, the more beeswax you have the stiffer your mix will be. The beauty of mixing your own Natural Jelly is you can really control just how thick or thin your mix will be when at body temperature just by adjusting that beeswax percentage. It may take a few small batches to get to a consistency you like but I'm confident you can get a quite nice customized lube that will be long lasting and completely non-toxic.

A word of caution, as I noted previously, the beeswax component is very tenacious, it does not get 'squeegeed' off easily and cleanup will require use of a detergent soap to get it off, more beeswax may require more scrubbing !

@pirontras Ah yes, you’re right, Vaseline is also a cheap solution, though I have never used it.

There are of course drawbacks to oil based products (and pure oil).  First off, and rarely talked about here, there is the smell, especially the next day. Even if I clean myself realllly well—physically expel as much oil as possible and take a shower—there always seems to remain trace amounts in my rectum that take on the odor of their new surroundings and leak out my anus throughout the following day. It’s pretty gross.  Anyone else have this problem? Also the fact that it requires a shower can be a bummer, because after the excitement of a session I often want to just go to sleep immediately.  And of course there is the staining factor, which is hard to control no matter how many towels one brings to the bedroom, especially when play is with a partner.

I never really had a problem with it. I never had the smell problem, because I always sit on a can afterwards and expel everything there is. As for leaking, towel seems to be enough for me. Perhaps you are using too much of it?

Be careful to avoid the use of coconut oil "formulations" containing petroleum based oils or gels as they will degrade silicone products, (as will the use of Vaseline (petroleum jelly).  Use of silicone and petroleum based lubes with Aneros silicone products will also void your warranty.

For our silicone products we recommend water-based or plant oil based lubricants.

I tried a variation of your method:

5g wax

5g shea butter

20g coconut oil

The result seems inedible. The mixture is very slippery yet thick and it's even hard to wash. Can't try it out with the toy. I might need to play a bit with the proportions, so I can make these as suppositories for easy application. Thank's a lot.

Well.... I wouldn't want to spread it on my toast but it won't hurt you.

Yeah, that's it main drawback, its tenacity to stay attached to any surface but that's also its greatest advantage, it stays on your Aneros device and is not easily absorbed by the body or rubbed off.

I don't know why you couldn't do that, just warming the mixture up a little bit should make it easily spreadable.

Oh, because I wasn't ready to have a session then. But I did. It worked incredibly. I kept the mixture in the freezer, broke it into pieces, so they worked as suppositories. It was the consistency of vaseline when warmed up to body temperature. I didn't even have to apply anything externally, which is great because that usually causes a mess, when the toy is inserted.

The mixture itself provided perfect lubrication, didn't dry out one bit. I didn't have to reapply or anything. First used it helix syn, then switched to progasm, and there was still plenty to go around after my session.

The only small drawback is that it's difficult to clean out, as it doesn't simply run out like oil. But it's not really much of a problem, as it doesn't leak out when it doesn't have to.

Thank's so much, rumel. The mixture is the best, cheap and natural, so I won't have to worry about searching for something better. It's honestly better than silicone lube.

I'm happy to hear you are finding it a very satisfying lubrication. I was thinking that it could be sold through the adult novelty market, I even thought of a name for it 'Erosauce'
