PC muscles vs. sphinctor muscles

So I've had a Helix for about 3 weeks now and I am having some trouble. The first time I used it, I think I had a very mini orgasm. Now I am not getting anything. I can't figure out what I did to get to that point. I know how to do PC muscle contractions and I have been doing that for the past 3 weeks now because it allows the Helix to be drawn up to my prostate. But am I missing something about the sphinctor muscle contractions? I'm not sure what these are or how exactly to do them (I don't want to sound like an idiot here, but I want to get it right so I can enjoy the pleasures that await me). Can someone please explain what it would feel like to do this type of contraction. Any help is MUCH appreciated.

Hey FL_Rocks and welcome to the forum!

I'd say that there are four types of contractions but they all involve the pelvic floor, rectal, and anal sphincter muscles to one degree or another.

The first contraction and primary means of driving the Aneros is the anal sphincter contraction where you clench your anus as if trying to keep yourself from defecating. This contraction draws the Aneros into the rectum. The second contraction is the Kegel (or PC) contraction where you use the muscles that stop the flow of urine. For those that haven't done this before, only stop the flow of urine to identify the muscles involved, don't do this as a routine practice. Doing so may cause urinary problems. The third contraction could be called a reverse Kegel where you use the muscles to push out or increase the flow of urine. The fourth contraction is a rectal contraction that involves the muscles used for pushing out or expelling feces.

Keep in mind that the contractions are only part of the equation. Relax and lose any expectations that you may have. Be on the lookout for any pleasurable feelings that you may have no matter how small they may be. Don't try to build on them, just notice them and enjoy. Trying to force and build on these feelings by contracting more is usually counterproductive.

As you gain more experience you'll find that your sessions will vary. Some will be fantastic, others not so much.

Be sure to check the Glossary and B Mayfields sticky threads for more information.

Hope this helps!

Hi FL_Rocks!

I second the Welcome to the Forum!

Great explanation Onthepath! (one of the best I have heard!)

Just one small thing that jogged my memory . . .

You said you had Mini's on the first time out. I often have a great orgasm when I receive a new toy in the mail; then it doesn't seem to work the same after that!

I believe that we are usually really excited the first time or two, because everything is so new and exciting! Then when the newness is gone, we loose the level of sexual excitement.

Maybe you need to increase your level of excitement, perhaps with some erotic music or porn before you ever start! Also, I get way more excited when I abstain from sex for a while. (Get Horny!)

Just a thought!

Later, Hlaser

Thanks for you help guys. I have been reading around the forum and have learned a few things. I haven't had the chance to try my aneros with this new found knowledge though. I'm planning to put what I learned to the test one Friday. I will keep you posted. Thanks again.
