I want to modify an aneros device, just the normal plastic one, using heat. I need to bend it forward slightly more toward the p-tab, not a lot but just a bit. Would this work? how would this be done? perhaps if i were to put it in boiling water for a short time then bent it gently... anyone tried this out?

@theeagleandwolf, I don't know about hot water but a heat gun would work.  Whatever method you use to heat the massager, go very, very easy!  Take your time because you're most likely not going to be able to reverse the change.

What you are proposing to do is possible but putting it into boiling water will not work, it won't get hot enough to soften the plastic. The bending can be accomplished as @Ggringo suggested with the use of a heat gun, however you have to be very careful about the process. The heat gun will need to have a focusing nozzle to concentrate the heat on the area you want to bend. You will need to wear heat resistant gloves to handle the Aneros during the process to avoid severe burns. You will need to heat the area you wish to bend slowly. You need to hold the heat gun far enough away that you don't scorch the surface. This means it will take extended time to achieve a uniform heating into the core of the plastic before it softens sufficiently to yield to bending. You will have to try several times to bend it before it softens sufficiently. You will also have to be carefull to not overheat it as it will turn fluid quite readily and melt in your hands, totally ruining it. It's tricky to do and as @Ggringo noted reversing the changes may be impossible.

Good Vibes to You!

Could adding some material at the p-tab achieve the same result, or its really an angle thing? If making the tab bigger or longer would work, you have a lot more options that don't carry as much risk and will be easy to accomplish, most are reversible. I'll post some pictures if you want.

You can use self-sealing silicon tape that sticks to itself, non-hardening modeling clay, medicine dropper bulbs, silicon finger tips protectors, the rubber grip from a pen, sections of silicon drinking straws.

There's also Sculpey Eraser Clay that you can bake to get a more permanent item, finger protection tape for sculpting is also rubbery and only sticks to itself, they use the same tape for medical dressings.

What you do is make an attachment that will slip over the tab. Not pretty but it will allow you to really adjust things to your liking, then if you decide to finally heat bend, you'll do it only once.

Plasti-Dip, for plier handles, will transform whatever  you assemble into a professional looking accessory that's durable and can be cleaned.

But before you do all this, a medicine dropper bulb slipped on the tab, with a finger protector slipped over that, will give you both more length and girth (hehe) and that's what I use. Fill the gap between them with something and the tab will be even closer to your body. Might just be what you need, and you can clean the parts easily when you're done. I've been doing this for years and still using the same items, they'll last a very long time.

I use a glue gun to add substance to the P tab.  Later if you don't like the result, just warm the glue again with a hairdryer and re-mold or remove.

I’ve modified a plastic aneros with heat, but it’s very difficult to do successfully.  Boiling water isn’t hot enough. A heat gun or candle flame will do it, but it is a very VERY fine line between “bendable” and “liquid” and “on fire”. When the plastic goes transparent it’s completely unstructured, and will easily sag sideways or fall apart. This plastic burns with a nearly invisible flame that is very hot and can quickly get out of hand. Once flexible, it needs to cool slowly until it regains solidity; quenching it in water will cause the plastic to bubble and pop, leaving a rough or even sharp surface.

If all that doesn’t dissuade you, in the end I destroyed it because the process also made it more brittle, and it shattered when I dropped it one day.

I won’t try this again. Bulking up the p-tab works.

A trick with hot melt, using isopropyl alcohol will make it unstick almost like magic, learned this a long time ago and it still impresses people when I show them. So you'd be able to remove your blob and switch it around different models, or work on it while it's not on the toy and put it back. Or you can just make your friends go *woah!*.
