Lack of progress after a year

I purchased an MGX a year ago, and have used it about 1-3 times a week since then. I'm definitely a believer that this can work, but I have not yet gotten a hands-free orgasm of any variety. I'm good at following directions and I've read the wiki and official site plenty of times, and I've really tried to remain patient and open-minded. But now that it's been a year, I'm starting to get a bit discouraged.

The first six months went very well, making steady progress and checking off many milestone achievements listed on the wiki, eventually culminating in what I consider my best session. But there has been a lack of progress in the following six months. I can get very pleasurable sensations, where it feels like my rectum and prostate are playing ping-pong with pleasurable energy zinging back and forth. Sometimes it can build to the point where it feels like it's leading to orgasm and I get out of breath with pounding heart rate, but eventually it subsides. I've found I most easily reach this state with the do-nothing approach. But I've diligently familiarized myself with my various muscles and tried all manner of contractions and positions. Lately I've found getting to what seems like the pre-orgasmic state only happens once every couple sessions or so.

Anyone care to share any advice? I've already read through the forum a fair bit, so I'm not expecting a single answer to solve all my problems. But it might be nice to hear from someone that has been in my position and was able to make a breakthrough.

Also, I started with the MGX because I figured it was the classic proven model, but now I'm wondering if I should have tried the Helix instead? I haven't wanted to get another model until I was able to master the first one. I'm an average size guy with normal proportions, and I doubt my anatomy is really much different than typical, so I figured it must not be anything wrong with my model. But with no progress for six months, I'm ready for something new.

@FourTen At first I was going to offer you some encouragement but after reading your second paragraph I think congratulations are in order. Sounds to me that you have made more progress in your first year than many others have.
Anyway, from my personal experience I spent a year with the helix classic and not so long ago went and got a program junior and my progress took a big step up. Maybe worth considering..? Not everyone would agree but mixing it up a bit worked for me.

Hi FourTen,

I feel EXACTLY the same as you.

I have had my helix for just shy a year now & I feel I'm at the very same point as you & starting to feel discouraged.

2 wks ago I did buy the prograsm thinking this would kick start my journey again but to be honest am getting the same sensations, twitching, slight upper leg vibrations etc as I did with the helix.

I just feel I've completely plateaued out & just don't know what to do anymore!

@FourTen, @sat1n...I've been at it for about 2.5 years...only had a few SuperOs over this time...most of my pleasure is of the "calm seas" variety...which is fine with me...I no longer approach my sessions with the mindset of trying to eclipse a previous successful session...instead I simply enjoy the time I devote to this practice for what it is...a different way to experience immense, long lasting pleasure vs. an ejaculatory orgasm. I LOVE BOTH! When my sessions fail to produce the pleasure that I know is possible, I give Aneros a break for a week or more and pursue practices that help to build sexual energy without ejaculation such as meditation and non-ejaculatory masturbation. I wish you success with your respective journeys.

I guess I will try the Helix soon, and maybe that will help with the progress. If I'm comfortable with the hard plastic MGX, is there any reason I shouldn't get the Helix classic instead of the syn?

Jaxsun, do you have any theories on why you've been able to achieve a few O's, but only rarely? I've been hoping once I got my first it would serve as some sort of breakthrough allowing it to become easier and more routine in the future.

@FourTen, I have been going for three years. For me it is a slow process and occasionally I lose heart. But this Forum keeps me going. In review it is getting better now. I started with a SGX, then a Helix. I think the Progasm Jnr is a good choice as its profile is quite different to the MGX so it will contact a different part of the Prostate. It also stays central on the Prostate. I think you are already well ahead of me.

FourTen: I have been at this almost 10 years and I would doubt anyone's progress was slower than mine. Super O's happen sometimes but not with any regularity. My early journey sounds much like yours in that I would have a great session, thinking I must have crosssed some milestone, only to follow it up with many not so noteable sessions. I just kept at it and enjoyed whatever I got.
I would get a bit discouraged and then out of nowhere, I would have a breakthough session and see progress. then the cycle would repeat itself, as it does to this day.
I think Jaxsun has given you excellent advice in that go into a session to enjoy what it gives you and not to expect that "this might be the one session where I finally do it"
One thing different for me is that I have most all the models and rarely have a session where I don't change out models when things get quiet. I would encourage you to get another model or two or even try something different like a rudeboy or Njoy pure wand
Don't give up..... take a break for a few weeks or so. sounds to me like you are headed on the right path. best of luck

Why is this? What are your good sessions like for this to then make them constant duds!? What are you doing or not doing, for thid to happen. I'm sure you can work this out.

A few comments: I have the Helix syn, and love it. Some think that the silicone coating gives it a silky feel. I do know that it retains odor and some don't like that. And you can't aggressively clean it (harsh cleaners can't be good for the coating), though at least one member runs it thru his dishwasher (no comment). I have wondered if the Helix classic might be just as good, but again I've got the HS and it knows its way around my prostate. The "road block" phenomenon has been described by others. If you're like many other users, you may not be using the device under optimal circumstances (rushed, tired, etc.). Goal oriented use is setting yourself up for disappointment (been there done that). One other "method" that has really workd for me: chatting with another user. The energy seems to flow and build up, but some may find it distracting or voyeuristic. Take heart.
