How long do silicone massagers last?

I ask the question because when I like something, I want to keep and use that thing forever (like my vintage foam insulated 32 oz Aladdin mug, and my Yamaha RCX master remote, model VP37330). But as we all know, stuff gets discontinued, and companies go out of business or get bought by bigger companies. You can find most discontinued things on eBay if you're patient, but sex toys are different. When they're gone, they're gone. So I'm thinking about getting a couple extra Helix and Eupho Syns, just in case. ...Enough to last till I'm 80 😉 What I need to know is how long silicone massagers last? Would a new one still be good if I stored it in a box for 40 years? Or or kept it sealed in a mason jar?

@Wandering_Smoke the real killer would be heat and light i suspect. Air tight container in the safe or your bomb proof bunker or maybe buried under the floor boards under the house if the ground does not freeze.

As with any new technology though maybe this is just the begining and something better might come along. Its a gamble but then again if money is not a problem easy come easy go.
Let hope you have a prostate until your 80.
Will you be retiring from aneros use at 81? 😉 lol
I can just see me now in the retirement home. Nurse comes in in the morning gives me a enima and then she puts my aneros in to shut me up for the rest of the day. 😡

@krissive Good one.

@braveneworld That's what I thought too. That and air exposure. Regular rubber (like the bushings in your car) gets brittle after like 15 or 20 years. I just don't know how silicone rubber ages. ...Maybe I'll go with the jar idea. I keep my massagers out, and there's a sky light in the bathroom so they're exposed to light all day.
I'd rather not think about losing my prostate. I think I'd rather die. I'll just eat organic, non-GMO food, and exercise it regularly, and hope that prevents any major problems down the road.
Hell no I won't quit at 80. I just figure I'll be dead by then. I smoked and drank until a year ago, so I've probably done some permanent damage lol. I feel pretty damn good right now though 😉
HAHAHA, thank you for the laugh! Nurse, I'm dryin' up in here. Need a re-lube. Thanks.

@wandering_smoke I just though of another way. You could use a vacuum wrap bag to take all the air out.Sealed for your hygiene! Sunbeam do a vacuum bag machine for doing meat to freeze or vegetables.

You young things think 80 is so old!

I can tell you from experience that, (at the age of 76), to me 80 is just round the corner!

Sorry about that @Pommie. I didn't mean any offence. I was only speaking about my own life span. I have treated my body very badly up until the last...little over a year. Smoked...a few things in my youth, but quit all that except for tobacco, many years ago. Drank until a year ago (quit at the same time as tobacco). Ate nothing but microwave dinners and frozen pizza. And was a notorious couch potato. ...So, even though I'm living as healthy as possible now, I don't expect to live quite as long as others. But, who knows. 3 of my grandparents are still alive and doing very well in their late 80s and early 90s.

You, I expect will outlive us all ^^

Seal them up with a vacuum food sealer and keep them out of the sunlight. They should last forever.

On another note, the stem on my Syn Helix has come loose. The handle can move around, but the silicone covering holds it in place. I don't sit on them. I have discontinued use and replaced it. Anyone else have that problem?

Thank you @Xileh. How long did you have the Helix before that happened? How often did you use it?

Yes, mine has become a little loose internally. It seems that something inside snaps if there's any twisting on the internal stem.

Okkkk. I glanced at this thread and nodded approvingly and went on to other more interesting things and then last night noticed an asymmetry of the tip of my Helix Syn, after a very successful session, I might add. I looked at it as I was cleaning it and...Huh? I don't remember those humps being on the side. And sure enough, just like Xileh reported and Twiltin confirmed, I could gently rotate the device within its silicon sheath. Hmmm. Is anybody concerned about this? My first reaction is, umm. Well, let's get the Helix classic and I think that's the direction I'm going. [Scenario: Doctor, what did you say got lost up there?]. Anyhow, it's an excuse to order the Tempo at the same time. Has anybody contacted Aneros about this?

Mine has come loose where the silicone meets the plastic. My worry is more about whether it is getting cleaned properly.

@bravenewworld. Thanks for that info. I shall contact them. Does anybody have any qualms (great word, that) about using a device in this condition? I think I"m going to shelve it, unless everyone says: "No worries". In that case, I guess I just won't use it anymore 🙂

Just a thought. I only recently started using coconut oil ( never use water based or silicon). Any of you with similar issues been using CO.? Could that be a problem? I wonder
