Hi I am using this hemorrhoids cream. Is there a way to tell if it will harm my syn model like a silicone lubricant? It has a very lubricating effect. Will putting some on the toy and wait give me an answer? And if so how long should I let it on?

Fitoroid :

Ingredients

Functional substances: lyophilized extracts of Helichrysum flowering tops lipophilic fraction (Helydol) * and Butcher's broom root *, dried aloe vera leaf gel *, aqueous solution of Helichrysum flowering tops*, oily extract of Hypericum flowering tops*, jojoba oil *, shea butter *, essential oils from Melaleuca, cypress and peppermint mint leaves.

In addition, it contains: stearate sucrose, caprylic / capric triglyceride, disaccharide sucrose, stearate sucrose, ketilostaeryl alcohol, trihydroxy-steatin, vegetable oils, hydrocoriolic acid, hydrogen cyanide, cyanide, vegetable oils, candelic cell , sodium dehydroxide, sunflower oil.

Anything that reacts with silicon will do so pretty quickly, the problem is that when this happens, your toy will be sticky and basically ruined forever. So doing a "spot check" is risky. If you want to do a test, use a dollar store silicon spatula, it should give a close enough result.

Now I don't see anything in that ingredient list that would attack silicon, it should be fine in theory. I know that Preparation H is fine but the ingredients are really different. Basically if it was my toy I'd go right ahead, but I'm just a guy on the Internet, and I guess you'd be pretty pissed off if you follow this advice and damage your toy...

@zentai thank you very much for the time you took to respond. This is quite important to me because getting the aneros in is near impossible for some reason and this cream helps alot with lubrication along with other lubricants i use.  I found a more comprehensive ingredient list

I remember that what got me worried is sodium silicate and tocopherols which someone said on quora are used in silicone lubes.

On another note will using a silicone lube cause health risks besides ruining the toy? Also can you tell if the toy is disintegrating with use? Eg will you find something in your feces or will the toy surface change? I am willing to sacrifice a toy if putting cream on it will make things obvious.  I am more worried about health issues and stuff staying up my ass over time and not realising it.

If there's a reaction it's going to be apparent, the surface will basically melt a little. Silicon is very stable and won't react with much of anything, but for example acetone will make it swell, or some cheap jelly toys with lots of flexibility additives will stick on silicon and ruin it.

I'm pretty certain that this cream is not going to damage silicon, you're not risking much, I'm an overly cautious person so that's that... if you're really not certain, maybe Aneros support can answer this? But honestly, it should be fine. If it's not, you'll see right away.

I used silicone lube for a while and stopped because of that exact reason, I don't know what it could do after 5-10-15 years of very regular use, again this might very well be a non-issue, that's more of a personal choice.

I'm not a chemist or a doctor but I agree with @Zentai that the ingredients listed in that Hemorrhoid creme probably will not harm your Aneros SYN model. I think you should confer with the experts at Aneros to confirm this.

I don't know of any long term health studies on the use of various personal lubricants but you may find this article relevant -> Slippery Slope: Potential Hazards of Lubricants for Vaginal Tissue. While vaginal tissue is not quite the same as rectal tissue the concerns about safety and toxicity are similar.

See @Zentai's answer above.

I am more worried about health issues and stuff staying up my ass over time and not realising it.

Because of the frequency and duration of Anerosessions the use of commercial personal lubricants has become a subject of concern for a number of Forum members due to the repeated exposure to the chemical constituents contained in these products and their long term health effects. Many members have chosen to seek out more natural lubricants in hopes of ameliorating any long term negative effects.

There are many choices for natural lubrication, it is more a matter of personal preference which particular lube you choose to use. Olive, coconut, walnut and almond oils are all popular alternative natural lube choices, shea butter is another popular natural lubricant. These natural lubricants do not contain glycerin. The rectal wall is a highly permeable membrane, easily absorbing water and the chemicals therein. While natural oil lubes do get absorbed like water based lubes, the absorption rate is slower and as the viscosity of the oil increases, the absorption rate decreases. Hence lighter weight (low viscosity) oils like grape seed and olive oil will be more readily absorbed and disperse more rapidly than heavier oils (higher viscosity) like almond oil or canola oil.

Personally, I am concerned about the uptake of the various chemicals in commercial 'personal lubricants'. Since I've developed a sensitivity to the glycerin found in many of the commercial lubricants, I've switched to using natural oil based lubricants such as a 50%-50% mixture of almond oil and shea butter or a 67% coconut oil - 33% shea butter mixture or the 'Natural Jelly' formulation. These compounds are safe for use with both the plastic and silicone Aneros models. I find these natural lubes are both long lasting and of sufficient lubricity to not hinder desired Aneros movement for long Anerosessions.

Good Vibes to You!

Thanks again for all the answers. The way to ask aneros about it is through email right? Anyway I think I am covered with the answers anyway. I will probably try the silicone spatula experiment just in case. I didn't express it well about the health risks. I meant the risk of the toy stuff melting in your ass, not the general risk of lubes. However all the facts about the lubes were really interesting so thanks again. I myself use shea and coconut, with silicone of course being a big no no. On another note I can't seem to understand how such a big industry promotes something like water lubes which to me is a complete joke. I am for sure tight assed but I wouldn't be able in any way to put in the aneros with a water lube. And to think  that other companies are promoting exclusively water on even bigger toys is beyond me. Could it be a marketing thing perhaps?

I know this is not a big "Unsolved Mystery" deal, but I'm curious, what did you end up doing?

For what it's worth, I think that in the medical world all they use is water-based lubes, so toys manufacturers probably think (and rightly so) that it's the safest thing to suggest. You never know if your customers are allergic to something, or if they use your toys with a partner in a setting where for example, oil based lubes would destroy condoms, etc. So even if water-based lubes don't perform that well, they're mostly always a safe choice no matter what.

Well I use the cream. Plus coconut oil and shea butter. There doesn't seem to cause any breakage on the toy. Unfortunately today I noticed scratches on my brand new helix syn v. These probably came from a kitchen sink sponge i used to clean it. It was not the aluminum ones. It never entered my mind that it would cause scratches. I have also used sponges on my eupho syn in the past and haven't noticed anything. I feel like such an idiot. The aneros journey is hard enough, i havent had any results for years and above that all these shit happening every once in a while makes it even harder.
