Helix vs Maximus

There is an "unknown" that perhaps those of you familar with both the Helix and the Maximus may be able to help. I have been trying to decide with one to purchase.

A little background - I have and do use the Ryder butt plug. It is 1-3/8" in diameter at its widest with an insertable length of 3-3/4".

I have read about the muscle contraction exercises to use with the Aneros. SOOOOooo I figured I'd try it with the Ryder that I have. Lubed up and inserted the Ryder. Then I tried the muscle contraction exercises. Surprising to me was that the butt plug moved back and forth. It pulled in as far as it would go when I contracted the muscles, and when I relaxed the muscles and even pushed "out" a bit the butt plug moved out somewhat. Rather suprisingly after maybe 5-10 minutes my penis started to get a bit hard and a little precum flowed.

SOOOoooo I REALLY look forward to purchasing and trying either the Helix or the Maximus. The question is - which one?

Your thoughts/experiences would be most appreciated.

RichT,

Check out my review (the first post in the thread) The Next Generation Reviewed sticky at the top of the forum. There's feedback from several other users there as well. I should tell you that since that review was written I have warmed a bit more to the Maximus, which I had lackluster results with initially. Still to use it effectively you must be somewhat more aggressive in your lubrication....I normally give it a fine coating of Vaseline, then coat that with a water based lube...makes it super slick. (I had a terrific session with it last week!) That said, I would stand by my initial assessment that it is not as responsive as the other units. Hey, I like 'em all,.. truth be told. In terms of size, the girth of the Maximus and Helix are nearly identical near the head of the units. The Maximus maintains that thickness over a greater portion of the body, whereas the Helix tapers down more. The Helix is unquestionable more responsive than the Maximus.

Again all of these units have their own charms. I think I'd start with the Helix though.

By the way, I've enjoyed plugs too (still do on occasion) and although they can be a lot of fun, I think you'll get more action out of the Aneros.

Good Luck,

BF Mayfield

Rich T -

My experience from using each of these would be similar to what B F Mayfield describes. If you hanker for a more 'filled' experience then the Maximus would have to be my recommendation but it does not have the same free movement that the Helix provides. And due to the larger girth of the Maximus close to the prostate, it generates (for me) extremely intense sensations. Insertion is a joy - I try to take it really slow and protract the pleasure.
I have not attempted the combination of lube suggested by BFM but it will be something I will adopt when I next call upon my Maximus. Up till now I use ID Glide internally and KY on the Aneros - and around the sphincter prior to insertion. I find that that this helps in promoting 'edge' movement. I have now increased my internal lubrication as I find this generates maximum stimulation to the prostate from the Aneros.

I wouldn't choose - go for both! You won't regret it!

Thanks BF and Calton for your thoughts and advice!

BF, I have decided to take your advice and get the Helix. Yep Calton, only way to REALLY compare is to try both, unfortunately, that gets a bit expensive for me. Time will tell how the Helix works out.

Hello! I am a new poster here. I purchased the Helix about six months ago, and I REALLY like using it. I tried the slow and gentle techniques recommended in various posts here, but I wasn't getting the excitement I craved. So, the technique that I have evolved is one of fairly aggressive alternating strong sphincter contractions...sort of a "push" and "pull" action. This I find is VERY exciting, but sometimes I get carried away and "push" too hard. Then the Aneros pops out and the momentum is destroyed.
What I am wondering is this: Would the Maximus, with its bigger size, be less likely to pop out?

I would like to add my 2 cents. The Maximus would give your a desired full feeling, but there is a downside. You will sacrifice movement. It's like driving a SUV vs a sports car. The Helix or Euphura would give much more sensativity. You'r looking for that little flutter of a feeling that starts the whole proccess. "That itch that can't be schratched".

I have both the Helix and the Maximus. About the only problem I have with the Maximus (and the reason I'm starting to like the Helix more and more, and am planning to purchase a Eupho) is that it has a really annoying tendency to pop out VERY easily! I have been able to keep going with the Helix even when upright on my knees, but that is impossible (at least for me) with the Maximus.

I now believe that one of the keys to success with any Aneros model is the ability to train your rectal muscles to contract in the right way to "grip" the thing.

One study with women found that they often did not get as much enjoyment out of sex with a larger-than-average penis because it was more difficult to squeeze down enough with their vaginal muscles. I suspect there is a very close analogy with the rectal muscles.

So, while the Maximus is nice when you want a somewhat different feeling, I have never been able to reach the level of internal orgasm that I can with the Helix. And, as B. Mayfield has often said, the larger diameter of the Maximus means that it is not as mobile, making it less likely to create the kind of feedback loop that is necessary to achive a Super O. Since the Eupho is even more mobile due to its smaller diameter, I can hardly wait to try it!

I find myself inserting the Maximus when I'm in the mood for a traditional (ejaculatory) orgasm. It serves the same function as a dildo, but with much more focus on the prostate. This had led to some VERY satisfactory (and messy) orgasms!

My advice would be to just keep working with the Helix if you plan to keep using your current "push-pull" technique.

My Maximus should be here tomorrow. I have the MGX and Helix already. Neither of them quite hits my prostate like I would like. They make regular sex much more intense, but from playing with the external parts while it's inserted, the feeling that other people describe on insertion only occurs for me if the back of the tab is pressed up against me...otherwise it just doesn't really press that firmly on my prostate.

So, hopefully tomorrow night I'll update with a Helix/MGX/Maximus comparison. And if the Maximus doesn't do what I want, I'll update with a major mod I'm contemplating to the Helix. I actually am considering evenly heating it right where the device cants forward towards the prostate, and bending the shaft so that it cants more.

Then I'll sand down any unevenness, polish it as smooth as the rest, and give that a shot. Hopefully the Maximus makes all that theoretical. 🙂
