I bought my aneros helix about a week ago, and have tried it a few times using the instructions posted on aneros.com. I have not gotten any results thus far, but I have read those on anti-depressants have reduced sensitivity. I take prozac. Is this: A. True, and B. Any of the community taking anti-depressants find away to get around this problem besides going off the meds?
One of the antidepressants I take is Zoloft and it can cause some difficulty at times. I take Avena Sativa Wild Oats and Horny Goat Weed supplements which are herbs which have many sexual benefits among other benefits and somewhat counteract the side effects of my medications. Occasionally I'll take a little Yohimbine but it makes me feel a little sickly. I believe some of your concerns with this are also discussed and explained in the wiki: wiki.malegspot.com.
Prozac and Zoloft are similar drugs and are probably bad for you.
The herbal supplement St. John's Wort helped me when I was depressed; it promotes a positive mood.
But since then I've discovered the ultimate treatment for depression - multiple continuous orgasms. Recommended dose is two hours of orgasm per day, may be split between evenings and mornings, but it is important not to ejaculate.
I use the smallest Peridise more than anything and I keep in in overnight ready for my morning session. It has worked wonders for my depression.
actorguy12,
Anti-depressant medications have a well known, usually negative, effect on libido and sexual functioning. It is unfortunate you have been diagnosed as depressed and have had to resort to medication to alleviate the symptoms. There are a few holistic doctors who may be able to help you deal with this condition using compounds other than the powerful psycho-active drugs you are now using. It certainly may be worth your while to check around for just such a doctor. 💡
equalityboy81,
I would advise caution when self prescribing herbal medications. Though natural, many of these herbs, extracts etc. can negatively interact with each other or other prescription medications. One is best advised to check for these drug interactions before beginning any regime of use. Yohimbine in particular can be very dangerous. 👿
Grand Tiger,
I’m not optimistic the Aneros line of prostate massagers will soon make the Physicians’ Desk Reference as a treatment option for clinical depression, but I certainly concur with your prescription for a suggested treatment methodology. I have found them to be significantly efficacious as mood elevators. The only side effect I have noticed is the seemingly perpetual smile on my face. 😆
Hi actorguy12 and All!
I too have been diagnosed with clinical depression, but have sensitivities to many drugs. After checking potential side effects of Paxil, the drug my GP recommended, and consulting with a couple of other medical experts who concurred, I rejected the drug treatment and upped the other approaches I had been using including "philosophical therapy".
It took me some months and combining Aneros with KSMO www.multiples.com to really get going, and I found patience and listening for Day-After Effects following an Aneros session was even more powerful and rapid that the sessions themselves. They are what got me into the O-Zone of ecstatic energies daily at will, and that has been the best treatment for depression imaginable from my perspective.
Patience and open careful "listening" for early lower level orgasmic energies can be a key to success. Everyone's journey here is unique. Enjoy yours and you may agree.

I've taken these drugs and I can tell you they GREATLY effect your ability to feel orgasmic feelings. Even regular masturbation is like a battle with your fist 😆 , although I did find it useful for outlasting my girlfriend in bed :D. Although strong medication always has it's downsides, I wouldn't be so harsh on these types of medications. Although many who suffer depression do so due to environmental stress, there are quite a few who are either born or have come to have an imbalance in chemical's and find that these types of medications are the only thing that can stabilize their chemical levels.
anyway, I say don't give up. once you're body starts to adapt to the meds you'll begin to regain your libido.
I went to the doc about two months ago because I have anxiety issues and came home with a prescription for citalopram. I took one tablet and had the WORST panic attack ever!
Consequently my ability to orgasm totaly dissapeared for over two weeks no dry O's no nothin!
Im about back to original level now but I regret trying that one tablet still.
Stay away from the prescription drugs fellas.
Smoke a little pot on occasion. Thats right POT come and get me =P
Thanks all for the replies! I've been on the prozac on and off for 8 years, and I often forget to take it for a few days so i'm not religiously taking it. It's unfortunate theres a compromise for the medication; I will keep on trying with my aneros to see if anything comes up soon. Though reading the replies here makes some sense of my situation - I didn't think it was normal to masturbate for about 5 minutes and feel nothing then right before orgasm I feel something. Seems like there's a reason now! Hopefully I can get off the damned things soon.
Omega 3 fish oil is found at least or more effective than Prozac in treating depression. http://www.scribd.com/doc/2662489/Study-finds-Fish-Oil-at-least-as-effective-As-Prozac It is even more effective in combination with it. So learn the appropriate amount of fish oil to take for depression and then start taking it. You can now get highly concentrated and highly purified fish oil on a prescription... it's called Lovaza: http://www.lovaza.com/
Also, I have heard that Wellbutrin is one anti-depressant that does not affect your orgasms, desire, etc like all the other anti-depressants are known to cause. I'm not sure how effective or safe Wellbutrin is, but you can check it out and may want to take it with lots of fish oil. That way you totally kick depression in the teeth and you have really great orgasms / desire for sex too. 😀
On top of that of course I recommend, you eat a healthy diet... like The Zone, and get lots of aerobic exercise. Exercise alone can be more effective than many meds and has the benefit of making you HEALTHY!!
As a side note, you don't think that me being 5' 7.5" and having a small stature would make any difference using the helix?
Hi actorguy12,
Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of Aneros.
Up until I started using the Aneros 18 months ago I suffered from (unmedicated) depression and alcoholism. Basically one fed the other. Alcohol is a depressant but when I was depressed I drank ( a lot of whiskey...) deepening the depression but at the same time needing more whiskey. And so on. I never went to the Dr. about the depression or alcoholism but my partner and her daughter were ready to consult AlAnon (like AA but for families of alcoholics) about me.
Since using the Aneros regularly my depression has almost totally lifted. I do still get the odd bad day, but nothing like the bad old days. The pleasure I get from my stable of Aneroses most days is enough to keep me a little bit high leaving little room for the depression to creep in. My desire/need for the demon drink has virtually vanished, and the thought of consuming nigh on a bottle a day is total anathema to me now.
Whilst it is possible that I have swapped one 'addiction' for another, it doesn't bother me in the slightest as I know I'm not going to get liver disease, bowel/stomach cancer, heart disease etc., etc., from Aneros use 5 days/week - twice a day.
None of which is relevant to your original post except to say that you may find that regular use of the Aneros, whether or not you achieve a super-O, will diminish your need for anti-depressants. And don't worry, there are great times to be had even without a super-O, and that will come with time.
Feel free to PM me.
All the best,
Old Wolf
That is a great testimony Old Wolf. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
I suspect that many alcoholics start off from being depressed, and then the alcohol only makes it worse. And as others and I myself have testified, the extreme gratification we receive from these HIH devices works wonders for depression. Everything you say makes so much sense. If it's a matter of swapping one addiction for another, it is swapping a harmful addiction to an addiction that is not only not harmful, but positively beneficial to one's overall health, well being, and longevity.
Thanks again Old Wolf, you have encourage me not to be shy of recommending Aneros treatments to anyone I know suffering depression and/or alcoholism.
Perhaps if we gather enough testimonies like this then HIH could market their devices as antidepressants!
Best wishes,
GT
Guys,
I’m going to play ‘Devil’s Advocate’ here for a moment. If one is depressed and believes some device will magically reduce their depressed state they are likely to be very disappointed and only fall further into depression if they do not achieve immediate success with that device. For those of you who have or are successfully managing your “rewiring“, these little wonders are indeed powerful anti-depressants. However, if you are a newbie trying to breakthrough to the pleasure levels so glowingly spoken about in the testimonials, you may be greatly frustrated. This, by itself, may contribute to depression.
Some of the really great qualities of this Forum are the positive attitude, care, concern and sharing of information which helps all of us on our journey of fulfillment. ‘Old Wolf’s personal story is a wonderful example of that sharing. I believe ‘GrandTiger’s suggestion to recommend Aneros as a treatment for alcoholism or depression should be bound with traditional forms of treatment as well.
Well said Rumel. Sometimes I get carried away. Also, as with any treatment, "individual results may vary" and I have to remember that it took many of us, myself included, quite a while to realize the supreme benefits of using these products. So we are not talking about a quick fix, but a long term solution to a chronic condition, something that one can be doing in parallel with more traditional treatments. Thanks Rumel for keeping a good balanced perspective on this matter.
As a newbie to the aneros, I'm still working on it. Still haven't achieved any results, but these posts and encouragements keep me at it! I don't think I am getting more depressed due to the fact I haven't reached the testimonial-level pleasure, it's just more of an incentive which is good.
As a relative new comer to this journey, from my perspective it doesn't feel appropriate to class Aneros use as potentially addictive, it is no more addictive than oxygen - and breathing like Aneros usage becomes a way of living.
Aneros usage is very different from a drug, it is catalytic (it is not chemically binding with an individual's biology instead it is a three-dimensional surface which is manifesting a reaction) and far more intriguing, after awhile it does not even have to be present to have an effect.
Yours,
hapticbear
hapticbear,
While you may not classify Aneros usage as potentially addictive it can fit the definition.
A definition extracted from http://www.answers.com/addiction : “Addiction is a dependence on a behavior or substance that a person is powerless to stop. The term has been partially replaced by the word dependence for substance abuse. Addiction has been extended, however, to include mood-altering behaviors or activities. Some researchers speak of two types of addictions: substance addictions (for example, alcoholism, drug abuse, and smoking); and process addictions (for example, gambling, spending, shopping, eating, and sexual activity).”
In the case of Aneros usage we are not talking about a substance addiction but rather a psychological addiction, a process addiction.
I encourage you to read the Wikipedia article on “Addiction” as well, see - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addiction .
It is fairly clear from a number of past posts here the members themselves have identified the behavior as “addictive”. While most of these instances are probably not real addictions in the clinical psychological sense, some could be classified as OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) cases and still others would be more likely classified as a neurosis akin to fetishism.
It is fairly clear Aneros use can be classified as a process addiction when the behavior impacts other portions of ones life in detrimental ways.
Fortunately, for most of us who have gone through an addictive phase, you learn to integrate your usage in a life compatible manner with beneficial results

Hi Guys.
I support rumel's concern here about dependency on aneros, drugs or anything else where the person becomes locked in and unable to control their situation. It is appropriate here to remember that many others have noted before this fact: your aneros is like a set of "training wheels", a temporary necessity that gets you rewired and into the ability to call up and ride these orgasmic energies at will, within your control, without aneros required.
I believe that is one reason to pay particular attention to listening, allowing, encouraging and ultimately controlling those spontaneous energies: the Day-After Effects. There are other disciplines that we can learn to assist in the transformation and deeper understanding of these energies. Ultimately it is this access to these Life Force energies that is the fulfillment of the promise here. At that stage you do not NEED the aneros, you bring it into your life on occasion as you want to enhance in some special way the orgasmic experiences that have become available to you at any time without the aneros, after you become a fully rewired adept.
At least that seems to be the essence of this from my perspective. Hope this is helpful. Happy to answer and questions.

I was thinking maybe I should switch to the smaller MGX from the Helix, maybe I am too small for the helix?
OH!!,
I think you are correct about Wellbutrin. I have been taking it for years. My psychiatrist says, unlike most similar meds., which can have sedative effects, Wellbutrin has an "activating" effect. As far as masturbation goes, it does not interfere, or I have become used to it. I do not know if it dampens the effect of the aneros. I have pleasant sensations, with the toy, and milder sensations the day after. I have not yet experienced anything like a "Super-O". I have been practicing for almost a year. I cannot tell if my experience has been hindered by the Wellbutrin, but it works well for its intended purpose, so I'm not inclined to mess with it, but I am curious to hear if others have experienced positive or negative effects with Wellbutrin or other anti-depressants.
Many people diagnosed with depression are treated for anxiety concurrently. If Wellbutrin has an activating effect, then it wouldn't be prescribed to people who also suffer for anxiety, since anxiety requires a sedative (if a chemical intervention is the only resort). I assume that Wellbutrin is not an SSRI like most new antidepressants..?
As always, I'd encourage people who are using antidepressants in the short term to consider brain rewiring a therapy. The books "The Brain That Changes Itself" and the much discussed "My Stroke of Insight" offer a wealth of valuable information on how rewiring takes place and are very motivating.
I have been taking Bupropion (Wellbutrin) for a couple of years now for ADD. It has been beneficial. My wife did not like me on Adderall (Amphetamine), she said it made me edgy. I can say for certain that I have had no diminishing sexual side effects from taking it. I just turned forty 3 weeks ago and my libido shows no sign of slowing down. As for my Aneros practice I have nothing to report in that department. That was another thing my wife did not like. I was open and honest about it with her and told her I was going to purchase them. She was way too uncomfortable with it, and I told her that she could get rid of them if it was going to effect our marriage. So now I am Anerosless. 🙁
And no Bupropion is not an SSRI. That was the main reason I asked my doctor for that instead of Prozac or other SSRI's that are used to treat ADD as well.
I have been on Prozac for about 3 1/2 years now. I got on it to keep from being suicidal after 5 bypass surgery and a MRSA Staph infection that I picked up in the hospital. I was in a morphine induced coma for 2 weeks and spent a couple of more weeks in the hospital after that.
I was trying to figure out how to get my Son-in-Law a pistol so I could end the pain and hallucinations.
We are not doctors here, at least none of us that I know of, so we need to be very careful about giving medical advice.
BTW, quitting an anti-depressant medication 'cold turkey' can have dire consequences.
I have not had a Super-O in my 6 or 7 months of Aneros use but I have had so many Mini-O's and P-Waves that I don't care if I ever have a Super-O or not!
exercise and a healthy diet are the two most powerful things you can do for your depression. And stay away from drugs and especially alcohol and other people that are depressed. Misery loves company so it's easy to hang out with other miserable people if you are miserable as well. Getting away from others that are negative and depressed and surrounding yourself with a positive lifestyle will do wonders.

Just to add to what you have said regarding Wellbutrin (no sexual side effects). There have been studies that indicate that Wellbutrin actually IMPROVED sexual function. Seems like a good option if you are depressed and want to use the aneros successfully. 💡
