Everytime I have a breakthrough, I have a set-back and I finally see the pattern.

I've been using the Aneros for 2 years now, nearly every day, but sometimes skipping a few days here and there. Addicted, yes.

Every time I have a breakthrough, (I had my first real Dry-O two days ago), I have a set-back.

1) Breakthrough occurs, something new happens that didn't before. It could be intenser pleasure, it could be shaking, or new thought patterns while using the device, anything "NEW" is a breakthrough for me in my eyes.

2) After the breakthrough, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I feel like "I've made it". I reached the top of the mountain and can now sit up here and celebrate as much as I want. I feel like every Aneros session is going to be awesome now, and I've unlocked the secrets.

3) My next Aneros session is pleasurable, but more or less a dud. Not only do I not have a great session, I don't even experience again what my breakthrough was the last session. I feel like I moved backwards and I get disappointed.

4) I think the next one, I'll get it back... and yet again, more or less a dud. I start theorizing what I am doing wrong, and I "try harder", even if trying harder to relax, which doesn't work.

5) After a week from this point, I forget all about my breakthrough completely fed up by it.. I let go of the idea I'll ever have that feeling again, it just doesn't matter anymore. I start having sessions again where I just relax and feel what I feel.

6) Goto Step 1

I've done this so many times in the last 2 years, it's almost sickening. I am finally aware of this pattern and hope that by becoming aware of it, and writing about it, I'll be able to shorten the cycle, or eventually get rid of the cycle entirely and learn to enjoy anything that comes my way even if to never experience it again.

Hello, jackfrost.

Your progress is good even if it feels like 1 step forward and 2 steps back sometimes. Now that you understand your own pattern and the "Expectation Problem," things should move ahead faster and faster for you. As for how to relax and clear your mind more thoroughly, you might want to consider a Yoga, Zen or generic meditation class. Any one of those can help.

Best Regards,

Dave

I have this pattern as well. I think a lot of us struggle with this.

jackfrost, way to go to identify and articulate this!

it is ridiculous how contradictory this whole enterprise is, which is why we have so many great minds here on the forum addicted not only to the activity but to thinking about it together.

I too, have followed a similar pattern for almost four years. I will have a breakthrough of some sort, just like you described and think the same thing( I've finally made it) Usually with me, the next session will give me the same breakthough, but not with the same intensety as the first time. within four or five sessions, I may no longer get the feeling at all.I think that's just the way it is for some of us. Slow and steady progress is what I feel it is.This has been my journey to getting a dry O and feel it will be the same to get to a super O. It's not just going to happen one session. It will grow and grow until I finally realize that I am there
