Does anyone use Shea butter with the Eupho? does it damage it in any way after long term use? cleaning ok etc?
Also my second question; i am looking for some kind of storage for my aneros devices, a place that keeps them separate and clean. Is there some sort of bag with separated compartments out there that you can but thats also secure in order to do this?
Thanks!
I keep the various components in a "dop kit" like I have from flying business class (i'm not being a snob here, I just happen to have one from a while ago) : My "kit" includes the device, a 10mL syringe (cut off at the end and smoothed in a flame for a few seconds then cooled to round the edges) that I use to directly insert the lube into the rectum (way up), and a 5mL obliquely cut off syringe that I pull out "plugs" of shea butter and then deposit into the 10mL syringe in sealable plastic sandwich bags. I wrap the device in clean TP after washing and drying it and put it in the bag and will also put the 10mL syringe in that same baggie after cleaning it and wrapping it in TP, since both items have been inside the rectum. The 5mL syringe I keep in a separate baggie, since it really doesn't have direct contact with rectum, etc. I also happen to use olive oil to "top off" the 10mL syringe. That I keep in a 20mL or so plastic bottle.
My Eupho-Classic is late in its fourth year of use with a mixture of Unrefined Shea Butter and Unrefined Coconut Oil. Helix-syn is entering a third year of use with the same lube.
Both tools are also "subjected" to Vaseline, Crisco, Vegetable Oils and Occasional Slippery-stuff (gel).
When cleaned they look, "as good as new." Cleaning is usually a scrub with non-antiseptic personal bar soap and a washcloth at moderate shower temperatures. When they get a bit scummy from Vaseline they get a trip through the top rack of the dishwasher with a Normal Cycle and no "Temp. Boost"
@inhope,to answer your first question - NO!
Unrefined shea butter is organic and will not affect the silicone surface of your Eupho or Helix sun models.
Re: your second question, I store the two or three tools in common use, in a drawer that provides at least some ventilation. The remainder of my tools that don't get used often, they are stored in a sealed plastic box, individually wrapped in face towels to protect their surfaces. I keep the stainless steel ones (Tempo and NJoy Phun plug as well as my Vice, in their original boxes.
I keep hearing about Shea Butter here. Where do buy it? Thanks.
I buy it at a health food store because I got a good price. It tends to be expensive. Amazon has good prices too.
do you find that Shea butter "melts", or does it just come back out?
@robertf57,have no idea where you live but if you Google it, I'm sure you will soon locate a local supplier. You want to make sure that it is certified unrefined. That probably means you will settle on a specialised supplier.
@Mostinteresting1,
Iv'e never done an analysis to work out exactly what happens to it after use, but it seems that most, if not all of it, is passed out with a subsequent BM. Even if some of it is absorbed, after at least four years of regular use, (three times a week), I have yet to experience any adverse effects.
Also get 100% unrefined shea butter cream. Make sure it has no other additives. It seems to soften at body temperature but some of it is still on the device after a full night! Coconut oil is almost as good if you can't find shea butter but it does melt.
I've been using shea butter with my Aneros sessions for something like five or six years now. It's compatible with the plastic or silicone coated Aneros and is an excellent lube.
I buy it at my local health food store. It typically resides in the skin care section. But you can also find it many places online and it is sometimes less expensive. Please be advised that you want 100% unrefined shea butter with no other added ingredients. And not all unrefined shea butters are the same or of the same quality. I highly recommend the Now Foods/Solutions brand, it's what I've been using for years now. It is a pale yellow to off white color. I've tried the Alaffia brand which is a tan colored shea butter that smells chemically and not right, and found their claim of it being unrefined to be false. That stuff burned inside my rectum! It got thrown out after a few tries to make sure there was no other circumstances causing that. I've also tried a type that I can't remember the brand name, but it was very dark yellow-ish gold. I found it to be too thin when at body temperature. These were all types I found at my local health food store.
I've heard other forums members say they liked the AAA brand shea butter. If you can't find Now Foods/Solution brand shea butter in your area or get online. Look for one that is pale yellow to off white in color.
You also don't need to make shea butter plugs the way user armon-neat does. I've been scooping out a few small chunks at the beginning of each Aneros session with a teaspoon since I started using it. It works fine when the shea butter is kept in the refrigerator and thusly is hard.
After an Aneros session, I squat over the toilet and push out as much shea butter as I can. Then the rest comes out in the next bowel movement. The neat thing about shea butter is that it doesn't seem to get absorbed much internally, and also being an oil based lube it does not dry out with exposure to air like water based lube do.
In response to @robertf57 and where to buy shea butter...I buy mine at the beauty supply store...now I've posted on this before but I'll do so again. Yes it is 100% pure and unrefined please dont think i'm using chemicals up my ass...i'm a pretty natural girl. Its costs $6.99 for 10oz, I have no idea what others are paying, I live in the south (dallas) and I know location can have a bearing on how much you pay for anything. Now I will explain what kind of beauty supply store to go to because all of them will not carry it. Shea has been used for centuries by black women for hair and skin, so you need to go to a african american beauty supply store. A good way to know its a beauty supply that african americans frequent is they are usually owned by asians, and there will be weave and wigs as far as the eye can see...or you can just call and ask if they carry it. hope that helps.
