Guys,

I know it is frustrating to adapt to this changed forum software especially when you've been comfortable with the previous format. For whatever reasons Aneros decided to make this change, I think we'll all eventually find reasons to get comfortable with this version as well. I really appreciate that Support is addressing our concerns and reporting back to us when they have made adjustments, it does make me feel like our concerns are being taken seriously. Thank you Support for listening, I know you probably can't satisfy everyone's concerns but showing you are listening is almost as important.

In a previous incarnation of the Forum (before the major hack meltdown) there existed the ability for users to create special interest groups. I was fond of those groups as they provided a place for special relevant topics to be readily available instead of being lost in the queue of the General Discussion Forum. The good news is that feature is again available and I've begun to rebuild a couple of those groups which were lost years ago, these three user groups are SOS Sojourners, Muse Music & Cherry Picks, I set these groups up as 'Moderated' so I'd have the option of editing out superfluous or off-topic material, but I hope I won't need to do that as long as members stay on point with their posts.

These Groups may be accessed by clicking on the Groups tab at the end of the second tier menu bar atop the Forums home page and then clicking on the GROUPS tab on the Group Home page. This is where you can create your own new Group, select and join a Group or add input to an existing Group discussion. I hope to see some other relevant groups created to further increase the rich knowledge base of this great online community. Good Vibes to You !

I used to constantly go onto this site and surf for any new content.......now I'm hardly ever on here. I have a REALLY HARD TIME finding or recognizing new stuff. Not sure if it's because there isn't as much, or I just can't find it easily. BITTERLY disappointed with the changes. ?

Generally, this new site works better for me, but I've got two gripes: First, when I click on the little circle next to a thread, usually indicating new posts, it goes to the very bottom of the page, instead of the first new posts since last reading. Second, I can't seem to reliably manage to get all the threads I've read (or want to read) to be considered, or marked read. How do you make that work? I've clicked on the "Mark Channels Read" tab on the top of the page - while in the section, at the forum page, etc., and nothing seems to work.

Any suggestions?

I'm unable to post using Safari. When I click in the box, "write something" will disappear but I can't type anything. Works fine on Firefox.

Badger - we will look into this. In theory have you have clicked on a thread and go back to the main forum page the icon for that thread should turn gray.
Mack - we are aware of this.
JAS - we will work on this.

I too, am running into many issues that apparently will not work in Safari. I'm not able to get into the chat room (if it still exists).

For a web site to be successful, it needs to be multi browser friendly to ultimately succeed.

I've not tried other browsers, but…it seems to me that when a change is warranted, it needs to be as free of issues as possible.

Pardon my noob rant, but you're not making this new experience easy to like at this point.

A bit of a nit-picky issue, but I find the new smileys are more creepy-looking than the old ones... I mean I can't ask someone about their prostate orgasms then add this guy at end --> 😀

I'm using Chrome and I'm having a hard time trying to determine what I've read and what I haven't. I think I remember in the old forum, topics that were not read were highlighted and if I read them, they were not. On top of the new forum page it says Mark Channels Read which I clicked on and does nothing that I can notice. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Dear support, Another annoyance of this new web site is that one's entries do not show up in the blog section until hours later. I am curious about this quirk and whether it be rectified. Another quirk of this web site is that the posting time is a good four or five hours ahead of Eastern Time (USA). It seems that the server for this web site is located somewhere in Europe like the UK. But your central offices are located in Houston, TX which in the Central Time Zone. All that seems very odd. Thank you!

Thom./BigGlansDC

@BigGlansDC
I think the server uses UTC as default time (which is very common, and correct. Eastern USA Time is not the "centre of time" 🙂 ), until you login, and then it uses my correct time (UTC+Summer time).

@lonewolf8, I can live with the server using UTC as the default time, UTC as in Greenwich, UK time! 🙂 I suppose I can live with the delay time for blog posts to appear within reason.

support Any reason the logins to the forum are so short-lived?

I think after about 5 minutes it auto logs me out...

@BigGlansDC,

I can't help you with the blog posting time delay but you can get the vBulletin software to show the local posting times by going into your 'User Settings'>ACCOUNT>Date & Time Options>Time Zone and choose your local time zone >>(GMT-5:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) for you<HERE. Good Vibes to You !

Will be brief:

The Server Error and "human verification missing" errors are annoying and require a browser restart. Same "BAD" with either Chromium v50 or Firefox v46. ....rook

The new site former has got me scratching my head. Hard to navigate and find things. Chat seems to be blank and goes nowhere. To me it is really disappointing. I have only been on here three times since it changed where I was on the old site every other day. The new format is glossy but not functional. I know that it may take a while to become familiar with it but that is not how it should be. I don't know whether I can be bothered with the site anymore. I am sure that the site must be losing members hand over fist. Pity, it was such a good place to learn and experience before.

We are looking into the issue with the chat room right now - it is accessible at http://www.aneros.com/community/chat . The link here in the forum header is not working.

Is there any intent to use Captcha (I hope not) ?? I'm seeing occasional triggers of the human-verify function in the post window. The only way I have found to exit this dilema is to scrape the post to a local clipboard and restart the browser.

As with @Speedo , I'm lost most of the time in my effort to make sense out of Architecture and a Navigation strategy.

How long did you test the current web site before you went live?

A suggestion, perhaps?

Dear Aneros Support,

I wish to thank you for rectifying the posting lag in the blog section of our new web site. Now posting blog entries is instantaneous as it should be. It would be nice some day soon that one is no logged out of web site in five minutes, but that one can stay logged in for much longer periods of time. Thank you!

Today the chat room is broken. Again.

Several days ago I asked a question of the Administrator. To date, no reply.

It would occur to me that changing to a new web site is a tedious and complicated process and requires a great deal of patience. I'm beginning to think this site was designed by either the personal responsible or cousin to the person who designed the Affordable Health Care web site.

Although I'm a newb, it seems fewer and fewer posts are being made, and no one is really concerned.

Am I the only one experiencing problems?

Yeah had problems all afternoon today. I cant understand why they just dont test on an offline server first, then when they are happy that things work ok, then they deploy it to the real live server. That's how professionals do it...

@lonewolf8 what you suggest is absolutely the best way to transition but it is also very costly. The company often has to have dual servers and if outside members are used for testing purposes, the testers usually get very frustrated and testing goes from enthuiasm to fizzle. If testing is done internally, additional staff is needed and the process takes time while both sites are being maintained.

It's unfortunate Aneros decided to "switch off & switch on" putting the burden on users. I agree with @mur1942530, it seems there are fewer posts made.

Just my thought.

@GGringo What's the rush?
"Quick quick quick we must rush this half-baked solution out the door as quickly as possible!1!!!111!1 one one one And do all that without considering the consequences!!! quick!!!111!11!1!!"

I don't care if there are not enough staff to test - it just shows that the tweaks / changes are not ready yet.
Yes dual servers. A web / DB server running on the developer desktop. Not like they need to drop $5000 for a new enterprise-class server....

The forum and chat was perfectly functional up until 30 odd hours ago. Could have just left it like that for a while until they did internal testing. GRrr!

Hi Everyone - The Chat is back up again. Thanks for your patience as we work through these issues. Our main developer was out on vacation for the last month and is back as of a couple days ago. You should gradually see additional improvements to the overall experience of the site over the next couple weeks. The issue with the chat room has to do with the single sign-on capability - the store, blogs, forum, and chat all are separate pieces of software. We have written extensive custom code to have a single login experience across the site. This week we upgraded the version of the forum software as there were new security updates as part of the latest release. This had an impact on the login to the chat. We were toying around with the idea of getting rid of the single sign-in approach as it would make upgrading the different pieces of software much easier, however in interest of having the best experience we nixed this idea.

The launch of the website should have been cleaner so again we apologize for the issues you all have experienced. We are going to changing the way we do further fixes to make sure any fix works 100% before it makes it to the live site.

@lonewolf8 , I understand the frustration but I am not in a position to fully appreciate your and older members' position since my exposure to the old site is limited to only 6 months while yours dates back more than 12 more months. My comments were a reflection of the fact that the company I worked for took the longer more expensive 2-server route when switching business system; it paid off.
You are right, when customers are involved, systems need to be fully tested and not rushed out at the expense of participants.
