Lube, because it's so big, and thus more likely to not move easy, or less lube, because it actually doesn't really move that much. Do smaller toys need more or less lube than larger ones? Thanks in advance.

I'd say the biggest factor is the surface & surface area. The ice versions need substantially less lube because they are so smooth (less surface area). The reason why so many toys have a dull/velvet finish is, that this provides more surface area which can hold more lube for a longer time.

Smaller toys have less surface area, hence less lube is needed.

Also: movements/mobility is overrated imho. The key is to learn to feel the stim better and not to add more stim.

Cheers, Unfug

For my progasm I used 3000, 5000, and 7000 grit sandpaper on it to polish it. It is VERY smooth now - not that it wasn't before, it's just a little better IMHO.

Did you wet or dry sand yours?  I’ve only dry sanded my Peridise with 2500, 5000, 7000 and then 12,000.  They’re much smooth, but not a high polish yet.  I was wondering if wet sanding finished to a higher polished shine?

@novice60 coming from an industrial skilled background, I would not do any dry sanding. If I understand correctly, these devices (the white ones) are made of acetal??? More or less like Delrin???

Sand under your kitchen faucet. To me, the material doesn't even matter as much as the fact that you are using such a fine grit sandpaper and they load up quickly no matter what. But, since your dealing with a relatively soft material (plastic) it will load up faster still. The water(in this case) serves as a lube to the grit and to float the removed material away from the grit in your sandpaper. It will cut faster and last longer while creating a more consistent finish.

If you were "color sanding" a show car to gain a mirror finish in the paint, you wouldn't consider not running a water hose on it. You're basically trying to achieve the same thing on your Aneros.

<Cheers>

Man, I don't know about that. I agree with the need to recognize the stim, I think that was half the battle for me. To each his own, of course, and especially here!

But 12 or 13 years ago I was thinking I didn't like the super slick lubed up feeling. It's like I liked feeling the tug if that makes any sense. To my own loss, I also held little belief in the HFO or Super O, and had resigned to only using the Aneros devices as aid to a hands on orgasm...stronger than normal, but not in the ballpark of what was possible. I ended up throwing out my progasm as a result! Damn! I wish I had discovered silicone lube then...who knows.

Anyway, I currently own a EST, Helix, and MGX, and 13 years ago, I couldn't have imagined the pleasures of feeling any one of them floating inside me with practically no friction. At one point, I was almost ready to toss my Helix also, partly for the same reason. I couldn't figure out why it was the flagship model around here, but once, quite by accident, I got the lube just right and the position too, and wow. From now on I'm a believer in plenty of well placed lube.

Hey @regal13,

Yeah I don't object to that, actually I feel the same.

It just appeared to me, that lube is often praised as kind of a magic bullet and if you just lube up enough, that will solve all your problems - but it won't. Just because a toy that moves vividly, can spark the most overwhelming sensations, it doesn't meant that it necessarily has to. If that was the case, hammering yourself with a dildo would to the trick already (for beginners) - but it doesn't.

I think that for anal beginners there can't be such a thing as too much lube but I will also say that that's also not quite true, as time goes by.  I used to prelubricate, insert extra lube with the Shibari Lube Launcher, plus slathering more on the toy, but so much leaks out. I've always had trouble keeping the P-tab dry so it provides a usable pivot, though what my problem is I don't know 100% yet...

I've been experimenting with smaller quantities and so far the results are just as good, though I just started using the Progasm and Progasm Jr.  I went back to my early routine because I didn't want to worry about there not being enough the first few times (also wore boxers as I didn't trust that the thing would stay in the whole time).  So I suppose experience level and your own personal experimentation will determine what the right amount of lube is, though I'm still inclined to say that to err on the side of caution (especially with the size of the Progasm) use more than you think you need.

I've recently started using a grape sized ball of Shea inserted and then the Progasm covered in a thin layer of Astro glide. Beautiful motion!

For keeping the tab dry, I find that 2 layers of folded toilet paper under the tab won't remove too much feeling and will absorb most of the lube that inadvertently find it's way to the perineum. That's not a very elegant solution but it works great for me.

@zentai, I do the same thing but with cotton rounds, those little pads that women use to remove makeup. The rounds work really well.

Great idea! And there's like 100 in a 2$ pack... I use them to apply polishing compound and wax for small jobs, never tought of using one for sessions. I think I'm stealing this! Thanks.

Yeah, the magic bullet, if there is one is certainly in the mind, but a rusty gummed up rifle won't shoot like a clean well oiled one! Ha ha! all seriousness I think lube can be overdone. My favorite current method is 2.5mL silicone lube targeted just inside and a few drops outside, drip on and slather the device. Oh my. If I'm using a syn model, I inject about 3 to 3.5mL of Sessions just inside and drip and slather the toy. I couldn't be happier with the results.

I am collecting all the ingredients for the natural jelly recipe, too. I imagine I will enjoy that as well since you can change ratios to make it thicker or slicker. Can't wait to try, but I'm still trying to source some beeswax, preferably from a local bee keeper. I don't know what can be trusted online. Sorry, I digress.

In my squirrel vision trail off, I forgot the original question, and other than the extra amount of lube it takes to slather the surface of the progasm, I probably wouldn't use much if any more than I do with the other devices.

@regal13 the whole Aneros thing is so much fun that's it's easy to get carried away when sharing ideas and tips... I'm with you, getting the Progasm (or Vice) to have optimal mobility is more about relaxation and getting used to the larger size than adding more lube. When you find the right preparation method that works for you, it should be good for all models.

On the other hand, starting with a smaller model and then switching to the Progasm mid-session is a good way to assess the lube situation and adjust things as needed.
