Reading b mayfield s guide again, what is the difference between these two types of contractions? Aren't they the same? I can only move one muscle there...

I think we are familiar with the anal sphincter muscles but the Rectal muscles are the ones that contract the rectum to expel waste matter. I think the rectal muscles can be used to move the Aneros in the Rectum. I think this is where the fun really starts. I can sense those muscles but can't control them yet.
I am probably talking through my hat as usual!

What I understand is imagine you're in an elivator and you need to fart. The muscles you use to hold it in are your anal (sphincter) muscles. Now imagine you need to get that fart out quick before you get in the elivator, that push is using your rectal muscles. The experts will correct me if I'm wrong.

Both @isavara & @Bunk are correct. While the outer anal sphincter is easily consciously controlled, the inner anal sphincter is not readily under conscious control and reacts more instinctively. Similarly, the rectal muscles react more instinctively, however, you can learn to contract them to some extent.
Good Vibes to You !

I have found that the voluntary act of holding in rectal gas which we use to consciously "pull in and up"on the Aneros are different from the almost mental process I am aware of when I begin to "groove" with the device. In fact the mental visualization of that motion is accompanied by only subtle physical motion. When I get to that phase I also envision an opposite virtual pushing out that I think is what was referred to as relaxing the BC MUSCLE. WHEN I GET TO THAT POINT I. AM CLOSE TO BEGINNING my P wave phase of the session. It seems to me that the active vigorous in and out motions produced by the external sphincter are what lead to the violent involuntaries while the subtle "mental" motion leads too the quiet " do nothing" type blissful sessions. I'm still working this out

@ armon-neat....id have to agree with you about the vigorous vs subtle motions differences....I'm about six months into my journey and have experienced both.
both are exciting and pleasurable on their own right, buy i find myself exploring the subtle side of pleasure more.
All in all the journey is about self discovery. Learning to sense the different pelvic floor muscles is but one part of that.

For me, i think that being more aggressive is what awakened sensation there, subtlety did NOTHING, for years i had this, NOTHING. The aggression has had an upside in making me aware of where i feel sensation build and start from.

I just hope my prostate isn't too damaged or upset how I've treated. I hope it forgives me!! 😀

Put device in, do nothing... Get good ish feelings then they stop and I get bored. I then Grip hard, really hard. This would cause the device to move, as described in the thread 'quick and dirty path to the super o' which felt nice but not as nice as it does when I move it subtlety, then because I am gripping hard/tensing my legs I ejacualte, it's also the most average orgasm ever.
