I love my Helix and intend to buy a Progasm. My favourite UK online sexshop has also started to stock the Peridise so they might be an addition soon.

I also want to try a butt plug, possibly an inflatable or one up to 2.5" or 3" diameter in time. My worry though is will using a large butt plug permanently stretch or weaken my sphincter so I won't contract as tightly on Aneros products or will it just become more flexible/accommodating to various sizes objects?

Given the choice between Aneros and butt plugs I would choose Aneros , that's why I'm posting on this forum before I buy a plug.

If any other forum members use butt plugs please let me know and what sizes you use.

Geezer UK,

I would advise real caution in this area of sexual stimulation. There is anecdotal evidence about men who now have to wear diapers as a result of the stretching and tearing of the anus structure due to fisting practices. It appears there are elastic limits to the ability to stretch and return to the same level of tightness, much like women experience with their vaginas after childbirth. If muscles are stretched beyond the point of tearing, when they heal, scar tissue may form and thus flexibility and resiliency are consequently reduced. Please take that into consideration in your future play plans.
I am not one who thinks that large size matters much anyway. I continue to be well entertained by my diminutive little Peridise. I have a higher percentage of sessions with multiple orgasms with it than I do with some of the other larger Aneros models. I have used small butt plugs in the past but after discovering the Aneros lineup, butt plugs are simply unappealing anymore, more boring than pleasurable.

So now when someone accuses me of being "a tight ass", I can just smile and say to myself "Yep, and I intend to keep it that way".

Thanks for the reply Rumel. Your comments are exactly why I posted here rather than a more general sex toy forum since there is such a wealth of anal play knowledge here.

I won't lose the urge or the curiosity but don't intend to lose anything physical to satisfy these desires. Maybe I'll buy a small plug for experimentation and a set of Peridise together with a Progasm.

Geezer UK,

I've used butt plugs of various sizes in the past myself, the largest was 2 inches in diameter. As I've mentioned previously, plugs often only engage the prostate tangentially. Very large plugs will generate considerably more prostate stimulation but come with risks as Rumel points out. Plugs are good at providing one with a feeling of rectal fullness combined with the sensation of anal penetration, but they are limited in scope. Once inside, what you feel is pretty much what you get....it really doesn't go anywhere from there. That said, I have been Super-orgasmic with them and rocking and contracting can alter the sensations slightly. (I prefer the Aneros also)

Regarding the concerns that Rumel raised about the possibility of tearing and/or damage to the sphincter, there is no question that this can be an issue if one is considering fisting (handballing) or large scale insertions. I would caution anyone to do a lot of research into this prior to engaging in this activity. No question, the potential is there for causing real harm, particularly if this is approached carelessly.

Although a 2 or 3" plug is not anywhere near as large as a fist, they too should be approached with caution. The fact is that some people can have tearing with much smaller objects. My sense is that if you're experienced with anal play (dils, vibrators, the Aneros), you will probably be able to accommodate plugs of this size given enough time and adequate amounts of lube. But keep this in mind, the larger the device, the more potential there is to effect ones muscle tone, which is what you were asking about I think. So while you wouldn't necessarily experience any tearing, you might find that your responsiveness to smaller fare was effected. If you're really committed to this, I'd start small and proceed slowly and see what you think. Above all, if you feel pain.....back off! Your body is likely telling you something...listen to it.

On the inflatable butt plug, I used to have one of those also. By my recollection is that it was no more (and possibly a little less) than an inch and a quarter in diameter deflated, so it was fairly easy for me to handle. The interesting thing about this device is that one expands it after it's inserted, so it provides the feeling of a much greater rectal fullness with minimal anal distention. It's like inflating a small balloon inside your rectum. Just be careful with this too and remember that it has it's limits as well, so don't over-inflate it!

Enjoy!

Yep, over-inflating this one could lead to an explosive decompression! And then it's POP goes your weasel. Ouch!

This device is pumped by means of a small bulb with a valve that you can open and close. I would certainly recommend that one experiment with the pump count prior to insertion (as I did). That way you'll have some idea how large it's becoming inside of you. (Once inside, it's hard to know what size it is ).

Just to be clear, this isn't a recommendation for this product but an explanation of what it's about from my perspective. (Again, I found it limited). As I mentioned previously, the Aneros is much more to my liking.

Because of Aneros, I also want to explore other toys like butt plugs. I know I'm supposed to take it slow, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on getting in a 2.5 inch diameter plug. It's cone shaped so the insertion is gradual. The main thing I know is lots of lube!

Hello Hunter,

💡 You might want to consider purchasing one of these and sawing off the ball and handle there on the right hand side:
