ruomsey,
Haven't heard of this one.
How exactly does it work and what is the recipe?
Heat a cup of sugar with a desert spoon of lemon juice (and a tea spoon of honey, optional) in a pot until it gets to 120 deg C. Use a sugar thermometer if you have one. Remove from the heat and allow to cool to a temperature your skin can handle.
Keep the sugar in a plastic container, like a used aqueous cream container.
You can use the sugar again and again by merely microwaving it each time for about a minute. Loosen the top of the container when you do this to prevent a minor explosion in the microwave.
Use a spatula of whatever sort to spread about a tea spoon full amount onto an area about 25 x 75 mm. Take a piece of cotton or linen, handkerchief would do, and press it onto the sugared area firmly. Now rip it off quickly in the direction of the hair growth, down to the floor in most cases. Some hair and all the sugar will now be on the cloth. You can use this again by pressing the sugary cloth onto another area. It will remove some hair but not all.
You can repeat the application of this process using the same cloth but a different area on the cloth.
Once you have built up quite an area you can use this to press against the perineum and anus area. Rip down very quickly and end up with a very clean...
You will find that this process works best with shortish hair and even better on soft body hair. Not stubble so much as short. Also you can clean up very easily using a damp flannel or face cloth. Does not need soap. Or take a shower.
For those very stubborn hairs I then use a pair of tweezers.
Dear ruomsey,
Thank you for that. Will give it a try when I get the opportunity.
ruomsey, I think the process you are describing is waxing, sugaring is another way that uses a similar substance to yours but you use it to rub the hair away like a harsh exfoliating.
Elaboration enigma!
You can take some of the sugar thus processed and form it with the fingers into a sausage and then roll this over the area to remove the hair. This is pretty painful actually and not nice. If you do a search on sugaring you will see that it is mainly the same as I described above which is not painful apart from the actual ripping off of the cloth which is like quickly removing a band aid. Not really a problem.
I know from first hand experience and practice...
Sugar prepared in the manner described is like a soft toffee and very sticky. It should be very warm to spread on like honey on bread.
Once you have the sugar prepared then using it is a breeze, if you have a microwave. Otherwise you can put the container in a bowl of very hot water. I use a jug kettle sometimes if I cannot get to the microwave privately. Heat the kettle with about a third full of water to boiling, turn off and then put the sugar container in it. Leave it for some time for the contents to get flowable and continue.
This method of body hair removal was practiced by the ancient Egyptians, or so I understand. They used honey but I guess they would still have to have heated it until it formed a toffee.
ruomsey, sorry you are right, I was wrong. Thanks for the explanation.
Just find a friendly salon and go get it done there. Been getting my ass and crack waxed for over a year now and it feels great and have no problems with it.
Okay, I'll weigh in from the "tame Middle America" sector.
1) I use the trimmer on my traditional Braun foil shaver to trim excess length of body hair on my chest, belly and pubic area (including around the base of the penis and scrotum, to achieve a length of 1/2 to 1"...not really short, but not scraggly). I kind of use an old fasioned barber trick, which is to use a comb to pull the hair away from the body, so I am trimming hair against the comb, and not my skin. (A little noisy, but no nicks!)
2) To protect my vanity, I pluck any really obvious silver hairs from the pubic area.
3) I use a double-bladed disposable razor while I am in the shower to shave the bottom 1/3 of the shaft of my penis, about 1x per week. I do this with shaving cream. Over the years I have figured out how to do this without any nicks or irritation.
4) Since becoming an Aneros user, about once a month during a shower I also use a very sharp disposable to gently shave the area surrounding the anus and between anus and scrotum. I just gently "swipe" it without applying any pressure (after all, I can't see what the hell I am doing) and keep going until I feel I have cleared the area of "excess" hair (insert own definition of "excess" here.)
That's it! I like the electric trimmer grooming process to occasionally be part of a "get ready for an Aneros session" session, which heightens anticipation a bit and puts a positive self-body image in place before diving between the sheets!
I recently picked up a Braun Cruzer5 shaver and it does as a great job. The smart foil works great on public hair, and there is no integrated trimmer to nick yourself with. The Seiko works better on 2 days
worth of hair growth, but the Braun gives a faster shave.
