Have any of you experienced moderate low back pain when first starting your sessions? I'm a newbie with four 60min. sessions using my Helix.
Hello daweasel, 🙂
I believe that I sometimes get some temporary lower back pain when I get too forceful with hip thrusting and/or arching my back. Are you doing any body movements during your session that you can attribute to the back pain?

Hi daweasel,
When you first start it is not uncommon to get the same type of pains just like you would if you have not worked out in a long time. However, I would be very careful not to really hurt your back.
You can also use a pillow to help alleviate this problem.
For me it’s been the opposite. I have not had the slightest episode of lower back pain in the 5 months since I began using the aneros.
In fact, many movements to facilitate aneros use have also been recommended as exercises by my chiropractor! I also 'feel' that aneros use is increasing blood flow to my pelvic region thereby helping in some way with the surrounding muscular tissue.
If you have had a history of a bad back (like I do) and have consulted a physician in the past maybe instead of trying the typical aneros recommended session (insert, relax, lay on side - stomach - back, breath, etc) try a chiropractor recommended work out. Roll your hips, do some light stretching, work the body ball. Heck, watch Fit Nation (I use my wife’s Core Aerobics DVD workouts)! Those girls really know how to work the abs and they have some of the best aneros exercises ever!
Definitely take care of the back, though. If (when) the back goes out again, I know the aneros use is over for awhile.
