Hi Everyone, take a look at the poll we put in the Community Polls forum and place your vote, thanks! - What should Aneros do for a chatting feature?

While it is nice to have chat back in some form I'd like to see if there isn't some other chat program that offers some features that I think would make it much more useful and functional to the Aneros membership. The features I'd like to see are :
1.) The ability to see history further back than a few hours. That way a person can enter and review what has already been recently discussed to get up to speed with the current discussion and not ask questions which have already been asked and answered. Numerous days/weeks worth of discussions would be great.
2.) The ability to edit one's own entry to correct typos, missed words or other errors.
3.) The ability to copy/paste all or portions of a discussion for archive purposes. This could prove particularly valuable for members who are unable to attend/participate for various reasons. This would also preserve 'Special Event' information chats for posterity.
4.) Both reddit.com/r/aneros and the discord aneros channel make it possible to capture text and see the prior history of posts and this is without having interactive dialogue, this should be available here on chat as well.
Good Vibes to You!
I agree with Rumel. Even if we cannot have every functionality, the most important one would be a chat log going back as far as possible. Right now we can't even select text in the chat to paste it in a text file... In this context holding chat events would mean that the resulting conversations are lost forever to the void unless someone makes screens grabs and edits them together, which hardly makes sense.
Exactly how does one get to the chat room?
@tbob, please see the link in the 2nd and 3rd posts- hope to see you there.
Besides the suggestions above, I would also like to see the ability to "@-mention" someone. Thus, a notification would appear for me in the chat, if someone typed, @helical. Or at least, print @-mentioned names in a different color.
The thought has been mentioned to coordinate an event at a decent timezone compromise. I think that was most recently mentioned by @rumel.
@helical we are limited to the customizations/improvements because this is a 3rd party software package. We can suggest the @-mention because that does make a lot of sense to have as a feature.
The chat will be accessible via our header menus in the near future
