Hey peoples 🙂
New user/forum member here. I recently bought a Helix after being somewhat curious as have never been in to anal stuff. I've had a few tries without success but I know this has been to do with my inability to relax properly thus far as I'm new to this kinda thing. I've since read on here that perhaps the SGX is the best option for chaps of smaller stature like myself - I'm 5'6". Why is this? Is it just down to probable anatomy? Have other small guys like myself had success with the Helix? Just don't really want to be wasting my time. Obviously I don't want to risk damaging myself either as I know things are delicate down there.
The other quick question I had, was how long does it take lube to go sticky/lose it's effectiveness once inside? The lube I have is Maximus. One of the things that' stopping me from relaxing is the fear of the lube 'setting' & the device getting stuck. I know it's probably irrational but it's hard to stop thinking. I've had no problems with entry but on a couple of occasions I had trouble getting it out after it being inside for around 30 minutes. I've noticed that when you try and remove it, unless you're relaxed your muscles tense and it gets pulled back inside, and have thought if the lube dries out further it really would be difficult to remove..has any other Helix users had this problem?
Cheers to anyone that can help put my mind at rest 🙂
Well first of all, I’m 5'6 and I use the Progasm, which is the largest model of the Aneros line. I have no issues at all with the size and have reached Super Os with it. That being said i think you just need more experience, but everyone's body is different so I could be wrong.
I use ID Glide as my lube, and have to reapply it about every hour or so. If you use olive oil you almost never have to reapply it, but it can be a hassle to clean up.
Heres a great tip to get the Aneros out: Squat down just like you would on the toilet, and push out like your taking a dump, it should come out on its own even with little to no lube left. You can use your hands too, but if helps ALOT if you do the pushing out. For me, if I try to pull it out using my hands only and not pushing out, I find that my muscles contract around the Aneros, making it harder to get out.
Hope this helps
No expectation and don't give up during the first few tries of nothing. It take times to get feeling as the prostate is trying to rewire. Just try a few more session WITHOUT expectation of getting something.
Nice feature with Helix is that it tends to be 'self adjusting' and its body will seek the bulge of the prostate.
Suggestion: It's important to relax so go slowly at this point in your journey. Make your first sessions sufficiently short that you can assure yourself that all is going well and the lube is doing its job. As you lengthing your sessions you'll be less anxious and more relaxed. focus on your your belly breathing and meditate on "nothing."
I am about 5'6" as well and own the Helix, Maximus, and Tempo all of which work very well for me. It is likely just a matter of relaxing and easing the tension within you.
Thanks for your replies - most helpful! I'll have to give the 'taking a dump' (haha) method a go next time to remove it. Yeah I didn't think I was to small in the sense that it wouldn't fit properly etc- it goes in fine with no discomfort etc. I thought it just might not be able to 'do its thing', perhaps something to do with prostate location on smaller men- hence the seen recommendations of the SGX. I've had a read of the wiki now too so hopefully it's onwards & upwards from here- will keep you posted if I encounter any success! 🙂
some_bloke,
I own a Helix myself. I learned on the forum that this second-gen product is affected by gravity more than the other models. In other words, your position greatly changes the effect you get from the device. I find that there is a difference in the feeling I get if I lay on my back versus on my stomach. Each one has its own advantage. Perhaps you should try some different positions to see if you find something that works for you. Everyone has a different "sweet spot."
As to issues with insertion and removal, I would add to the excellent advice above by saying that you just aren't used to it yet. Insertion and removal is a strange new sensation. Ease comes with relaxation. Relaxation comes with familiarity. Good luck and enjoy the journey.
Every time I remove an Aneros (from the peridise to the progasm) I sit on the toilet.
Firstly, it's a good place to be should you have an accident and secondly, it makes removal a whole lot easier, for me anyway.
I had a quick session before sleep last night & the squatting removal method definitely makes things a whole lot easier, so that's going to help me relax a lot now I think. I noticed when I removed the device after 20 odd minutes, that it was not slippery in the slightest, in fact, it almost felt 'bitty' and grippier than it is when clean. I was also only mildly lubed-up inside still too. I'm not sure water-based lubes are the way forwards, or at least the one I have. If there's friction it's not going to perform it's best I'm guessing. I'm going to try another lube I think. Have been thinking about a silicone-based one but that they don't seem to popular around here. Have also read about the Shea Butter, but that sounds kind of arduous to use. Decisions decisions...
I have been using silicone lubricants from the start since water based dries up too fast and the glycerin in most of them doesn't agree with me. I love it seeing as how it is easy to obtain, lasts hours, stays silky and never gets sticky or "grippier". Only issue is its quite messy and a bit on the expensive side. Also you shouldn't use it with silicone based toys (Vice for example). I really do want to give either the shea butter or home made flax seed lube a go though.

I'm your same height. I don't have the Helix yet, but have the Eupho and MGX, both of which work fine with me, no problems, in fact....awesome!
