Absorbed into the blood stream?

I have read many posts about the fear of stuff going into the blood stream from aneros sessions because the anus absorbs?
I am NOT a doctor, or an expert. This just sounds "off" to me. I mean this is where waste is located, and exits the body. It doesn't make sense the body would absorb human waste into the blood, to do so would make most people horribly sick.

Also I watched a show where people who were trapped at sea with only dirty water would use "enemas" to try to get some water into their system, without getting sick. It seemed to work ok.

Again, not an expert. Just wondering which side is right.

jja,

The lining of the rectum is composed of a layer of cells capable of osmosis, this allows water and other chemicals in molecular form to pass though and into the bloodstream while keeping larger matter such as fecal waste and bacteria out. It is an essential function in the digestion process by allowing the body to absorb nutrients into the bloodstream and helping maintain hydration. Without this ability we would all die. This ability to absorb dissolved chemicals is the basis for the effective use of rectal suppositories as a medicine delivery system.

There is a safety concern about the regular and prolonged use of various lubrications which contain chemicals for which no long term studies have been performed documenting their safety/toxicity. Each man needs to be aware of this potential for unknown consequences as a by product of his Aneros use.
Good Vibes to You !

So it would be better then to use natural lubes like, olive oil, coconut oil, and stuff like that?- Just maybe not as long lasting or slick

As rumel noted there is a lot of good stuff (vitamins, good bacteria etc.) manufactured in the colon and absorbed in both the colon and rectum. -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_intestine --. We don't want to kill the good stuff or screw up the absorption processes.

Also as rumel noted, we have few clinical studies to clearly guide one's choices and my own choices are not the result of any 'exhaustive search.'

The Hindus in India practice Ayruveda, something that we call an alternative medicine. Many/most Indians refer to it as 'traditional' since the practice is over 2000 years old. -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayurveda -- It relies in part on small (usually three or four ounce) enemas (basti) of natural substances. Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil and Sesame Oil are three of the base substances in use.

If you put it on your salad, consider it 🙂
