No stupid questions here. You need to clean yourself out by giving yourself an enema. I was pretty freaked out about it when I started, but it is really no big deal. You can buy a device from Aneros or you can go to your local drug store and pick up an old fashionded $6 enema bag. They might even be less than that. That is what I use and it works just fine. It is better on a few different levels if you are cleaned out before hand.

i don't clean out first. i found that it seemed to irritate my insides a bit (warm tap water).

i personally have never had any problems with not cleaning out. most sessions, the aneros comes out completely clean. on occasion, there is a trace of fecal matter.

the rectum seems to keep itself pretty clean on its own.
