Now that some of you more experienced users have tried the Peridise and posted your reviews (thank you), I was hoping you might be able to give me your opinion on whether you think someone fairly new to anal play might benefit from starting off with something smaller like the Peridise?

It sounds as though they might be a bit less intimidating, and also as though they move around pretty freely; do you think maybe they might induce good feelings a little quicker, making it easier to relax with something larger? I'm pretty sure we'll be leaving whatever he uses in during sex as well, it sounds to me like the Peridise would be a great item to start with.

buttercup,

As I mentioned in my response to ‘bonerowner’s “Peridise” post. I think this would make a very good anal introductory toy for both men and women. Think of it as the size of 1/3 the length of a standard #2 yellow pencil with two spaced goose bumps and an eraser that got bit by a mosquito. It is not at all intimidating compared to the standard Aneros massagers (which are not intimidating when compared to a standard rigid vibrator unit).
I believe it would indeed “be a great item to start with.”

Buttercup,

I'm reluctant to discourage anyone from purchasing one of the larger Aneros models, particularly one that is of more modest size such as the SGX, MGX, Helix or Eupho. But the Peridise is a terrific way for "first-timers" to get their feet wet. As my review in the sticky section will attest, I think they're a lot of fun and fully capable of producing some world class orgasms.

That said, the larger units work with one's body in a different way. They feature an abutment arm and tab that produces perineal acupressure point (sweet spot / P spot) stimulation and functions as a fulcrum translating one's anal contractions into perineal, anal and prostate stimulation simultaneously. As a result of this design these models afford more direct prostate stimulation.

While there can be prostate stimulation from the Peridise as well, it is less focused than that of the larger units and as a result the orgasms that it produces are a bit more anally centered. To be clear, this is more of a qualitative difference that a quantitative one. But most importantly for the anal newbie they will find the size less intimidating, and consequently be more open to exploring this kind of stimulation. Once they start experiencing sensation, pleasure and even orgasms with them, the chances are that they will want to experiment with the larger devices as well.

To sum it up, prior to this point the most timid anal novices had limited choices in the Aneros product line. With the introduction of the Peridise they have a true alternative and one that all but eliminates the "fear factor" associated with anal toys.

Enjoy,

BF Mayfield

Remember I said that I had read EVERY page of this forum? Well I did, and what you two said must have gotten stuck in my mind without my realizing it, because I honestly thought that I had come up with this idea myself. When I went back and re-read what you had written I could see it was right there. Duh.

I am planning to buy the Helix special (hoping they don't discontinue it before I do), but right now I think I'll go order the Peridise. I think hubby may be a little more comfortable starting smaller (smaller even than the toy we have now, which he doesn't actually have much problem with physically), and if we can get even some motion going it will help him mentally/emotionally with a larger item.

Buttercup,

I don't think you can go wrong with that approach. And although I can't say for certain, I'm pretty sure that the Helix special will be around for a while. By the way, don't forget to try the Peridise yourself! Keep us posted on how this turns out for you both.

Enjoy!

Now anxiously awaiting delivery of the Peridise set, lol! I told hubby I'd ordered it, read him a few reviews, showed him the pictures and answered some questions (which I was able to do because of the wealth of information I'd gathered from this board). Some interesting factors seem to be at work here-on the one hand, he has said he wouldn't pursue this on his own but would do it if I wanted him to, and he still seems to be a bit conflicted about enjoying something being up his butt. On the other hand, he has first hand knowledge that it can be pleasurable, he seems to be curious about it, and since I've let him know I was getting serious about buying him one (or more) of these products our sex life has ratcheted up another notch. And it was already well beyond what most people in their 20's have, never mind people twice that age. 😆 So for me, I'm already reaping the benefits.

As far as the lack of perineum stimulation, once he's accustomed to the Peridise if he feels he wants to be stimulated there I have no problem doing it for him; I already do it almost every time we have sex, and his reaction the first time I ever did it was what made me explore it further and discover this website. Veeerrrryyy sensitive! Since my biggest turn-on is seeing him get as excited as possible, we both benefit. 😀

Note that with the Peridise, you start with the big one and once you are getting somewhere with it go smaller. The two smallest are far more subtle and effective than the beginner ones. In fact I get very little from the biggest one when I've tried going back to it. It's like the difference between my Helix syn and Eupho syn.

With the Eupho, I cruise at about a seven level calm seas with waves up to over nine level orgasms. With the two smallest Peridise, the waves run from a low point of about two to sharp sudden level eight orgasms. (All of these are dry, by the way.) The Eupho is good for hours; the Peridise turns into a tiny butt plug in about an hour.
