@HopefulMMOer - There is no studies or doctor that could tell you that. What we generally go by around here is, if it is safe to eat it, then it's safe to put in your rectum. Shea butter is a natural tree nut oil. It's been used for cooking and skin care by native Africans for a long time. Unfortunately like any other product there is potential for fraudulent product. For example, one time I tried the Alaffia brand unscented shea butter. It's a tan-ish to light brown in color shea butter that smells really strong with a chemically tint to it. This is the only brand I've tried that looked and smelled like that. Upon insertion of this shea butter into my rectum was an immediate painful burning sensation. I had to stop and push it out over the toilet. I tried three separate times with the same result then threw out the product. My belief is that they are fraudulently selling this as naturally extracted, when it is actually chemically extracted. And those chemicals don't completely leave the shea butter and are terrible for your health. Naturally extracted shea butter that is off white to pale yellow in color has a fairly mild scent, with no hint of a chemical smell in it.

I wouldn't personally apply that logic to extra virgin olive oil, unless you know for sure that it is pure. There is so much fraudulent olive oil on the market, particularly in the USA, and who knows what is in it. Here's just a few of many articles you can find on the Internet about it:

I don't think I'd recommend Cayenne pepper, even though it's safe to eat! LOL
:))
I use unrefined Shea butter and unrefined coconut oil. That's what works best for me.

@Longshanks - I suppose I should have thought that out a bit further. But you are correct, I would not want to put cayenne pepper in my rectum. My point though, is you would not want to eat something like Astroglide. So why put it up your butt?

hey, I'm new here. A few guys have mentioned Tempo. What is that? Also, I have a helix, do you think other models bring you to a Super O faster?

I use coconut oil every session. I pre-lube with it, and I use it on my genitals just because it good for the skin.

I find that it isn't slick enough though so I also use a water-based gel. I try to stay all natural. Water based provides extra slickness which feels amazing, but I feel like I have to reapply fairly often which is a bit annoying. I am sure silicone based is the best way to go to get that consistent slickness, but I am hesitant to use it.

For a change I mix up coconut oil with 10% beeswax. Works well, in summer I may need more beeswax. I use a modified syringe to pre-lube. This replaces the unrefined Shea butter that seemed to cause a very mild irritation.

From the beginning I have used ID and Aneros Sessions. ID is always around the house, but I picked up Sessions to try it out. I can't see experimenting with anything else. I barely need any lube as it is. Light coating on the device and relax. I never have issues with rawness or any soreness. Or the feeling of dry extraction, and some of my sessions last for over two hours.

And since we have a house full of play toys and both ID and sessions is compatible, I can't see adding any other 'flavor' to the mix. (Well - I do have flavored lubes, but that's for an entirely different use 🙂 )

Coconut oil for me is the lube of champions for Aneros plus it's anti-bacterial. I'm a bit skittish using an petroleum products per my research.

I've been using a combination of Slippery Stuff Gel inside, and some Vaseline on the Aneros.

I avoid ID Glide due to glycerin, which the ass doesn't tolerate
Saying that, Shea Butter + Coconut oil doesn't typically seem slippery enough to me, and still gets absorbed. Then again, I haven't tried freezing them before hand.

What do people use to freeze them into pellets, by the way?

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) has been my lubricant of choice for the last three-four years. I lube my anal canal with my EVOO lubed middle finger and lightly lube my Aneros tools with such. It is like Brill Cream of the 1950's and 60's. "A little dab will do ya!";)

Is cooking oil a bad idea? I was almost positive I read somewhere that oil based or vaseline lubes would cause the Aneros to turn gooey, like Vaseline on a condom. I have looked all over for where I read that, but can't seem to find it, so I am thinking I must have misunderstood what the person was referring to.

@Spanishguy69, Vaseline will NOT make the Aneros gooey; I've been using it for many years, and it stays on great if you freeze the Aneros, and then rub it on. Works great for treating hemorrhoids. You shouldn't use silicone lube with any of the Syns, though.

hey guys, I am new at this and did not know what lube to use so I use boy butter original formula. Do you think that will do the trick? It does not dry out

I'm not sure; check the ingredients. If it's not safe to ingest (i.e., eat), then it's REALLY not safe to put it up your butt. It goes straight into the bloodstream. Remember the alcohol enemas, and how dangerous they were?

Voted other waterbased so water to specify, been using Sliquid Organics Gel with my Helix Syn. I love that it is organic and natural ingredients, doesn't have and of smells or flavors for that matter. The gel is also thicker for anal use and when injected before inserting the aneros, seems to suspend it inside well during a session.

newguy8, when I lubricate with EVOO, I just use a little of it. Have you used much to cause exploding farts?

I've used olive oil and coconut oil with success but recently i've been using Probe Thick Rich. Lasts a long time and hasn't caused any problems like other lubes with glycerin. Probe has glycerin but whatever it is derived from hasn't caused issues.

Having now used coconut oil several times I am convinced that this is a great lube for this device. I usually fashion it as a suppository and store it in the refrigerator til ready for use. Just use some saran wrap and roll it up.

Is coconut really 'safe' to use with the Aneros Helix Syn? I've always believed that oils in generally doesn't go well with silicone toys. But obviously, many here appear to use coconut oil... somewhat confusing. What's the truth? 🙂
