recently l acquired the new Helix Syn Trident, however lm remembering why l didnt use the old Helix, after 5/10m the lube just sort of drys out, granted the new model is just as comfortable as the previous one, but it kinda feels so comfortable that its like it doesnt feel like anything is there, and on withdrawal its bone dry, my non syn models l use vaseline which last much longer, but that would damage the Syn.. so how the hell do l stop the lube drying because lve tried so many over the years but not found one that lasted for anywhere near a proper session.

@Timelesspa I've had good luck with Boy Butter (Original). Long-lasting like an oil-based lube but non-damaging to silicone toys. I don't have any of the Syns so I don't have direct lube experience. On a down-note, it seems to have gotten more expensive, so I probably won't buy any more when I need to. I have been using Slippery Stuff Gel for almost all sessions now and like it a lot. Most of my sessions, though, are rather short, less than 45 minutes.

First, congratulations on the new model purchase, I think you are going to really like that model. Really the only type of lube you need to avoid using with any of the 'SYN' models is lube containing silicone as one of its ingredients. Vaseline, while chemically compatible, may be used, but there may be other reasons to avoid it.

There has been a continuing discussion on the Forum about lubrication types and issues. Next to discussions about the Super-O, lubrication is probably the next most discussed topic. I recommend you first read the Lubrication paragraph in the Getting Started chapter of the Aneros WIKI and then read through the Bestlube..., Need Help with lube choice, coconut oil, Coconut Oil and Unrefined shea butter..., threads for additional information and insight into this topic.

Most commercially prepared, water based personal lubricants contain glycerin which has laxative effects and depending on the sensitivity of the individual, may cause the dreaded "urge to purge" syndrome cutting short one's Anerosession. Additionally, glycerin when synthesized by the body may lead to elevated triglyceride levels in the blood. However, other individuals seem to be unaffected by the small amounts of glycerin in these lubricants. In any event, glycerin (whether naturally or synthetically derived) is but one of many chemical constituents in these lubes.

As far as I know there have been no long term studies of the health effects of commercially prepared or natural personal lubricants. Because of the frequency and duration of Anerosessions the use of commercial personal lubricants has become a subject of concern for a number of Forum members due to the repeated exposure to the chemical constituents contained in these products and their long term health effects. Many members have chosen to seek out more natural lubricants in hopes of ameliorating any long term negative effects.

There are many choices for natural lubrication, it is more a matter of personal preference which particular lube you choose to use. Olive, coconut, walnut and almond oils are all popular alternative natural lube choices, shea butter is another popular natural lubricant. These natural lubricants do not contain glycerin. The rectal wall is a highly permeable membrane, easily absorbing water and the chemicals therein. While natural oil lubes do get absorbed like water based lubes, the absorption rate is slower and as the viscosity of the oil increases, the absorption rate decreases. Hence lighter weight (low viscosity) oils like grape seed and olive oil will be more readily absorbed and disperse more rapidly than heavier oils (higher viscosity) like almond oil or canola oil.

Personally, I am concerned about the uptake of the various chemicals in commercial 'personal lubricants'. Since I've developed a sensitivity to the glycerin found in many of the commercial lubricants, I've switched to using natural oil based lubricants such as a 50%-50% mixture of almond oil and shea butter or a 67% coconut oil - 33% shea butter mixture or the 'Natural Jelly' formulation. These compounds are safe for use with both the plastic and silicone Aneros models. I find these natural lubes are both long lasting and of sufficient lubricity to not hinder desired Aneros movement for long Anerosessions.

I don't know where you're reading that, all the reading I've done indicates that natural organic oils and even most petroleum based oils do not negatively interact with pure silicone materials. That is why silicone based tubing is frequently used in industrial fluids handling and also in food processing. Silicone is a remarkably stable inert material with wide product applicability. Its primary drawback is its affinity for itself, silicone molecules will readily bond to other silicone molecules hence the prohibition of using silicone lubes in conjunction with silicone toys. You can safely use organic oil based lubes with any of your Aneros devices. Note: organic oils will degrade some rubbers (both natural and synthetic types) and latex (i.e. condoms may melt on you if you use oil for lube).

I have syn models,I lube them with ky,spread it over them, insert,a couple of contractions, then take it out. I hold the toy with the tip up,and put a generous dollop on the tip, then reinsert, this will minimise the squeegee effect,be quick though or it’ll run down the sides. This allows 60-90 mins of play,if more time needed, you need to pull out and re lube.

I have been making sure to pre-lube before insertion and it is making a huge difference. That seems to minimize the "squeegee" effect as discussed by @Tommygunn.

I think you should choose one promoted as Grade A, 100% raw, pure Shea Butter (preferably organic) without chemicals, parabens, GMOs or additives.

I read everywhere that it’s only for external use.

Although widely used in cosmetics, Shea butter is edible, as such it is probably body safe. I think any shea butter which has been processed using chemical treatments should be avoided. I would imagine that most commercial cosmetic manufacturers would probably label their products for "external use only" simply for legal liability avoidance, just as Aneros makes no claims for their devices as medical aides or sex toys but rather as adult novelties.

Can you buy it on Amazon?

Yes, There are numerous shea butter sellers on Amazon.

I've been shopping for shea butter, and the number of search results is a tetch overwhelming. I could use some help picking out the more reputable brands. There's just a whole gamut of inconsistencies in texture, quality, colour, smell (or lack of), etc. Negative 1-star Amazon reviews are rarely helpful because its usually someone that didn't like one teeny little thing about a product, therefore the whole thing is garbage in their eyes. And yet, that's enough to put me off buying it.

@rumel I have experimented with some kind of shea butter and have bought pure, raw and unrefined ivory shea butter. The color is white and has another texture than yellow shea butter. Do you have experience with white ivory shea butter? Is there any health hazard?

Do you have experience with white ivory shea butter?

The shea butter I have used was yellowish tinted, not white ivory and had a slight grainy texture. I don't have any experience with the white ivory shea butter to which you are referring.

Is there any health hazard?

I don't know if there is a health hazard. I'd check the label to see if they note use of any bleaching compounds in preparation. Other than that the differences may be simply due to slight variations in the color of the crop seeds or the region in which they were grown and processed.

@rumel Thanks for your answer. Think I will use the yellowish and use the mixture you suggest.
