(Also reply to „someone - also venting a bit“)
@rumel's answer to @someone's ranting about contradictory advice in the forum let me smirk envisioning rumel as wise old man trying to help his grandson to understand the world.
This scene also let an idea flash across my mind. What if some definitions of the words we use here already could tie up the loose ends for one or the other.
F. e. there has been written a lot about focus. But what does focus quite generally mean?
Wikipedia defines the „depth of field“ as follows
For many cameras, depth of field (DOF) is the distance between the nearest and the farthest objects that are in acceptably sharp focus in an image.
As a picture is worth a thousand words let's take this picture to explain „focus“.
As the picture shows there is more to see than only the depth of field alone.
I guess we now already can resume, that „focus“ here in the forum can only be meant as the center of our attention and awareness. But this is no absolute single point, it's only a certain area. If we're not already gifted with the skills making a Buddha, nevertheless always there also will be a not excluded environment and a certain mind noise around this center.
There will be arousal in other body regions than our gland alone, there will be thoughts about every day life and errands. All we can try is to shift our focus to where we like it to be, but we have to admit that it won't be perfect.
When too perfect lieber Gott böse*.
(*dear God angry)
The quote is by Nam June Paik – a korean artist.
The real explanation is that only god is perfect and it’s considered outrageous to put yourself on the same level as god. Only god can create perfection. I think god is not angry, but just bored when things are too perfect. Because the small mistake, the unexpected, cute glitch brings out the humane, the wordly and at the same time divine in us. [...]
There is no ‘all good’ or ‘all bad’. In every right there’s a little wrong and the other way ’round. But at the essence of everything, there’s the divine. [...]
Look at your little peculiarities and consider them a divine wink and reminder of something bigger. In yourself and in others.
By this approach we might achieve less perfection concerning the sharpness of our focus but after all we might get better results in total.
I hope this all makes any sense at least for "someone".
Don't let me be misunderstood! This is no recipe, no "42". These again are only my two cents here – sharing my thoughts while still a newbie in trying to understand the world, my prostate and the bliss it gives me. Mind my signature.
Cheers, Mart

But what does focus quite generally mean?
I'm glad you've brought this topic to the forum, I agree there needs to be some clarity as to what is being discussed when we use the term focus.
When I use the term focus I am generally referring to paying attention to what is going on within one's whole body, not just the genitals or pelvic area. It is not the type of concentration dedicated to penile stimulation during masturbation, it is a bit broader. By that I mean mental energy is being concentrated on the moment to moment actions within your entire body. This means thoughts (mind noise) pertaining to all which exists outside the body needs to be abandoned or at least put on hold. 'Mind Noise' is quite often concerned with thoughts, ideas and concepts completely outside one's own body, e.g. global climate issues, world economic problems, racial relations, religious conflicts, immigration fears and on and on down to what your neighbor did with his garbage yesterday. These all steal energy away from the energy your body can use to generate orgasmic pleasure. Quieting this mind noise allows the energy which would otherwise be expended on those thoughts to recirculate throughout the body gradually building up to orgasmic levels.
When I speak of focusing on these inner sensations, I'm speaking of not only the subtle sensations being directly generated by your prostate but also the subtle tingles and twitches which may occur anywhere in your body, arms, legs, hands, feet, chest, eyes, ears, nose, lips, tongue, scalp, etc. These are all aspects of your orgasmic energy and not to be ignored if you wish to enjoy full body orgasms.
As @SOwithoutAneros noted, maintaining this level of focus is not easy, our minds tend to drift into the extraneous. In yoga there is concentration on breathing to help hold the mind in one state, in transcendental meditation the repetitive citing of a mantra performs a similar function. These same techniques can be employed by Aneros users to maintain their own internal focus. Affirmations and self-hypnotic suggestions can be your mantra, deep valley breathing technique may induce the requisite physical relaxation state. Good Vibes to You !
When I speak of focusing on these inner sensations, I'm speaking of [...] the subtle sensations [...], tingles and twitches [...] anywhere [...] These are all aspects of your orgasmic energy and not to be ignored if you wish to enjoy full body orgasms.
Thanks once more, @rumel, you just helped me to widen my "depth of field" a lot. My approach so far I now reconsider as much too local. I'm full of anticipation how this will influence my next sessions.
Cheers, Mart
@"longtimelurkers", don't hesitate to post your thoughts, what a pity not to benefit from the discussion.
