You'll find varied responses to this question. I don't like the feeling and aggravation of doing that and if you eat a good fiber content diet you'll BM regularly enough that your rectum will stay essentially if not entirely empty after a good BM until you feel the "urge" to BM the next time, usually a half day to a day later for most including me. Just some Vaseline or a good hemorrhoidal ointment to lubricate the anus and either a water based lubricant or a hemorrhoidal type cream on the Aneros is all I need for plenty of movement of the Aneros (I have prostate O's easily) with plenty of left over lubrication for a comfortable BM next time nature calls.

inhope,

While there are many cheaper alternatives, there are none better than the Streemaster Mini Douche. I saw this product for the first time many years ago at an adult trade show when it was being introduced and was immediately impressed by it. It is clear that the manufacturer examined everything that was problematic about cheaper syringes and improved upon them.

To start with the Streemaster features a truly easy-fill (large opening) silicone bulb that holds up to 11 oz. of liquid*. The nozzles (one large and one small) are smooth as glass (no seams) with tips that don't scratch and stab you on insertion. The nozzles screw easily and very securely into the bulb. The bulb is flat on the bottom so you can stand it upright once it's filled (a very nifty feature indeed). Lastly, the opening on the bulb is large enough to allow for quick and easy cleaning.

These guys have built a better mousetrap. If you're into douching prior to sessions, this is the way to go. The Streemaster is an first rate product made for folks who douche and appreciate quality gear for getting the job done.

BF Mayfield

* It is not strictly necessarily to use all 11 ounces to achieve a sufficient rinse however

I use the container and nozzle from a water based Fleet or generic type enema kit you can buy at any pharmacy for a few dollars. Just dump the enema fluid out. Rinse well, and refill with pure water. Works fantastic, and inexpensive. Usually just one container of water is enough.

Also, like slimjim mentioned. When I'm good about having more fiber in my diet I find less need to do a rectal rinse before an Aneros session.

I don't always bother to douche, If I've had a good bowl movement some time that day beforehand I find I am clean, as feaces aren't stored in the lower bowl.
Sometimes I do douch though and have a small bulb douche - something similar to this:

Nothing fancy, but inexpensive, ideal for the job and easy to insert.
I fill it with warm water, lubricate my hole and inject a couple of times before expelling, then repeat once more.
Remember you don't need to put too much water up there of you will start to clean the upper bowl and this will just push more matter down.

@Love_is, as I mentioned in my post above, the Streemaster Mini Douche does have a flat base. Since it is made of silicone it is very stable as well.

6 oz disposable to rinse the rectum only, plain water only. Good for many refills. I lube with olive or walnut oil

@B Mayfield - Doh! Silly me for not reading your full post. I just looked at the pictures in the link you provided and took my information from there, as you can't tell from the pictures. I'll edit my post to correct that information. Thanks for letting me know. 🙂

Shower-shot with a flow control valve and a Streemaster nozzle.

I stand on one leg and don't insert the nozzle. just set it for a very gentle flow and touch it to my anus, count off a few seconds, step to the toilet and expel. Two or three of those and I'm GTG for a hot shower.

On travel... bottle of drinking water and a Higginson.
