A bit difficult for me to broach this subject. I was diagnosed recently with UC (Ulcerative Colitis). Am doing much better now. Pretty much healed. Usually when I get sick (like me with this UC) or have an accident, I like to see what lesson there is for me. There are many possibilities but one thing that occurred to me (I am not a doctor and have only limited medical knowledge) was that maybe overuse of Aneros and / or KY usage could have contributed to it. The doctor when I mentioned this, seemed doubtful if there was a connection. Especially because the stool sample showed no bacteria as being a factor.
I've used Aneros products for years (at least 10!) and have had no problems at all. Just prior to my UC diagnosis (a few months ago), I was using my Anerii (plural of Aneros? 🙂 a bit more than usual, almost daily, for a few months. So I did wonder if there was a connection. You may think, well the doctor said no connection, so end of topic. But, seeing as UC is a bit mysterious and it's appearance is not understood in the medical world (from what I understand). It's some kind of autoimmune disease. Could the KY attributed to the condition, or use of the models if cleanliness was a bit wanting, etc. Any thoughts welcome. Maybe a medical worker may have some thoughts.
For now I'll probably stick with Aless till I can make my mind up one way or the other. Aless, after using the Aneros as training wheels, seems to work just fine.
If the doctors tests didn’t find any link between your anal fun and UC then there likely isn’t one. Aneros toys and lubes don’t go up far,and lubes get absorbed. You might be overthinking things.
Running in the family or how you have lived most likely the culprit.
I agree with @helghast. The only thing I could see being a problem is peristalsis being triggered by your usage. I recommend looking up anal sex and UC, as anal sex is a more common practice. Also check out gay forums, if they exist, as this certainly comes up given the frequency of UC.
Do be very clean with toys no matter what. I am less clean than many but a thorough soaping and rinsing before and after use seems to be essential.
good luck. I have had stomach problems for years. Not UC, though I might get it some time in life, as my mother has it, but for now I just have very fickle digestion. I stopped all coffee and tea, as well as alcohol (for other health reasons) and that changed my life. But we are all different.
Interesting post. I am not a doctor but have been through the same process with UC.
I am 58 and been using Aneros for 8 years now. 6 years ago I was diagnosed with UC. It’s a chronic disease, why it will come again and again. Unfortunately this summer I had another outbreak and have been thinking about whether there is a connection with my use of Aneros and my outbreak. UC usually hits younger people.
After my first outbreak in 2015, I have only used Natural Jelly as lube, which should’n cause any attack by bacteria as it’s only natural products. UC usually starts in the lower part of the rectum, so it is in the area where Aneros is in contact. I have not talked to my doctors about it but would like to hear if anyone here has any experience with UC and use of Aneros. Anyway I do not think there is a connection
I am not a Doctor, but I have lived with UC for 18 years. Now 67 yrs old.
BB and amaz.....
I was diagnosed with UC 18 years ago. My GI Doc said the only possepble cause besides auto-immune response, could have been my over use of Ibuprophen. I was refereeing Basketball and Soccer 5-7 days a week on top of my regular physical outside job. Without Ibuprophen taken daily, I could not work or run 1-3 hours daily while refereeing multiple High School and college games. So it was possible the antiinflamatory caused my ulcers.
After 9 months taking mesalamine (generic Asacol /Apriso ) my main symptoms abated. Now, my bowel movements, 2-5 a day, will never be normal/firm again. Mesalamine daily for the rest of my life to prevent flare-ups.
Fortunately, remission, no flare-ups, since then. Still not like I used to be, but no too life intrusive.
Began my Aneros use in 2015. Regular use 1 - 5 days a week. Tried KY, Slippery Stuff, Vaseline, Silicone ...etc... Now i use Rumel's Coconut oil-shea butter-bees wax lube. (( 4 parts CO, 1 part SB, 1 part BW keeps it from being too runny)). NO UC issues from my Aneros use.
My colonoscopy's show my UC ulcers were up in the colon well beyond the rectum.
Checking my anatomy lessons. UC is a disease of the colon, not the rectum. I think our massagers do not penetrate past the rectum and do not penetrate deep enough to enter the colon.
I hope this information is helpful to both of you, and brings you hope that your lives will not o too badly affected.
PS Lesson: Do NOT overuse anti-inflamatories or asprin. I do not take these ever again, for fear of flare-up and Doc's advice.
Warm Regards

@p38 thanks for info @p38. Compared to you I’m a newbie re UC. Only started @ 4-5 months ago. Something entirely new for me. Now, using medication almost normal. Asacol & Mezavant.
your lifestyle sounds very healthy. Unless it was also stressful? My lifestyle also healthy but maybe prone to worry and stress.
my doctor said it starts in rectum. And works up. Just prior to my UC beginning I was using the Aneros backwards as I liked these new sensations. (See my post, We’ve got it all backwards). Unless THAT was the problem. Not according to intended use, ha. I was into that for almost two months and then my UC began. I didn’t want to get too specific with doctor about Aneros use but he didn’t seem to think there’s a connection.
