I just noticed that I cannot browse Albums. I ususally entered the Album page via [Community]/[My Albums]. On that page http://www.aneros.com/forum/members/albums/ I see two albums, another mebers on the left and mine on the right, just two.

But I know there are at least three Albums on this site if not more

http://www.aneros.com/forum/members/dead_poet/albums/me/
http://www.aneros.com/forum/members/artform/albums/anal-glands/
and mine
http://www.aneros.com/forum/members/alv/albums/aneros-photographic-comparison/

Please direct me to a page were I can see all the members Albums

alv,

I believe your ability to see other members albums is determined by the member's personal privacy settings (see - http://www.aneros.com/forum/profile.php?do=privacy ). Many members may wish to restrict viewing to a trusted few people (Contacts and/or Friends) rather than have their Albums viewed by the entire membership or the Public at large.

I believe we should respect these individuals privacy and their right to include only a few select members into their "Friends" circle. Please do not take offense from other member's rejection of any friendship request you may have sent out or will send in the future. It is not a personal 'snub' but merely a desire to remain as private as they can.

Rumel - I do not think that is the problem as I can view each of the Albums listed above as well as
http://www.aneros.com/forum/members/rook/albums/rook-s-album-1/ .

So I can browse three other Albums once I know their URL (Picked up from the members profile)

BUT, I have no page that shows me and index of all the Albums. (Example - the group page allows me to see an index of all the groups regardless of group status, privacy etc) I cannot see an index for the Albums on the site, this index is what is missing.

I have marked this album http://www.aneros.com/forum/members/alv/albums/aneros-photographic-comparison/ viewable to the public, without using this URL can you access this Album?

Alv

Can get to your photos by clicking your avatar which gets to your profile page and then album shows. Click on album to get to photos.

There may be other ways as well.

alv,

Your album does not appear on the "Community">>>"My Albums" list either, but when I visit your Personal Profile page it is shown there and I can access it. I suspect if a member chooses to restrict any one of the items on the Personal Privacy profile list it may automatically block all his items from any kind of global listing that might otherwise occur. If that is the case then you would have to go to each individual's profile page to see what information he has made available to you depending on your relationship status with that member.

It is rather a shame that albums marked for public view cannot be easily be browsed and accessible through a common page to all members.

Rumel - I love the way that you see everything through pink glasses - nothing is a problem, there is always a positive explanation and bugs are non existent, A really positive attribute from which I can only learn!

By the way when editing the pictures in an Album it would be nice if the text "delete picture" and the square select button for deleting be positioned next to it and not in the line above - or is google chrome missing the linefeed.

Hello People, 🙂

This thread topic begs to bring up the question of...

Shouldn't the permission settings in "Profile Privacy" have a fifth option of "No one"? Not all of us wish to share profile information, even with forum friends. For this reason I purposely leave my profile information blank. Or perhaps there is another way of doing this?

Absolutely excellent point ! And, 'blank' may be the best solution. Love-is' post caused me to go back and review the permission settings. In the "old" forum, fewer than one in ten guys posted anything other than a general location.

The current filtering choices seem suited to a social networking site aimed at an increased sphere of intercommunication whereas a goodly number of Aneros members value anonymity over the number of contacts they accrue.

My temptation is to opt for 'blank' until we achieve a better definition of "friends" and "contacts" along with a better paradigm for filtering.

Agree with Love_is -- "None" is appropriate for some categories.

My current understanding of the Friend making process is that it has two steps, firstly someone requests to be my Friend and then secondly, I have the option of either accepting or rejecting that request.

If this is correct then I should be able to effectively become invisible (equivalent to a None option) by setting my choice to Friends, rejecting all requests that come to me, and not sending any requests myself.
