When replying to a thread you used to be able to see the original thread and the replies of others. Seeing this information makes it easier to craft your own reply. It also makes it easier to copy/paste text for quoting.
Can this feature be turned back on?
Thanks,

support-
yes, it would be very good to do as onthepath suggests and restore that feature.

Good suggestion onthepath!
Just the other day, I was posting a reply to newguy8762 and had to refer to his post a couple of times so I did the page back, page forward and it worked until just about the end of my post when I paged to it, it was gone! I just didn't have it in me to start it back up from scratch.
Yea, I got tired of doing the backup/forward route so I started opening the thread that I wanted to respond to in another browser tab. That allowed me to just switch between the tabs.
Until they get this fixed, that's probably the easiest route to go. Just copy the url for the thread you want to respond to and open another tab (or window) in your browser and paste in that url. That way, you can refer to the thread while you are editing your response.

Hi onthepath,
Good suggestion - I don't remember this feature ever being on the forum though.
Are you looking for all of the replies of the thread? Or just maybe 3-4 of the most recent? The page might get quite long if it's a long thread.
thanks,

it was definitely there.
yes, i think it was limited to some length. if i recall it was in its own scrollable window.

Just the last two or three posts would be good, as we are usually not responding to earlier ones.
I'm also pretty sure it was there before because it seems more recently (maybe since you updated the appearance) that I've had to open a new browser window to remind me who last posted and all that was said.
My memory is not getting any better in spite of directing so much orgasmic energy to my head 😆
Support,
Onthepath and Darwin are correct, as I recall there was a scrollable view box that allowed you to scroll up to see at least the previous post to the one you are responding to. It was a nice feature, but some how got dropped the last time the site got its major remodel. I’ve gotten in the habit of composing responses in Word while viewing the post I want to respond to, then hit the POST REPLY button and cut & pasting the response into the Edit box. This is a little cumbersome, but it does work.
Hello Forum Members,
Ask and you shall receive!

Support,
Very Cool, Thanks for the prompt response!
Hi Support,
Perfect. Thanks, I just used it.
Hi Support!
Thanks from me too!
Sometimes you get so used to an inconvenience, you think it is carved in granite, I guess???

I think that it would also be useful if specific posts could be replied to. At the moment only a general reply to the thread is possible. In other forums (fora?) in which I post - specifically http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa - each post has a 'Reply' link and each reply has a 'in response to:' reference. Saves a lot of copy/pasting that would otherwise be necessary to keep the sense of a thread.
Am I asking too much?

Ummm isnt that the same as clicking the "Quote" button on the top right of each post? As I have done?
Thanks for adding this feature back Support!
Now, I have a similar request for Private Messaging. Can this feature be turned on there too so that you can see the original message that you are replying to? I don't know if you can display a full conversation showing all of the messages sent between two people but hopefully you can at least show the most recent message that you are replying to.

Hi Onthpath,
We'll look into adding this feature back as well.
thanks,
