I'm experiencing some painful jolts that last a split second in different areas of my body when I use the aneros, and wondering if it might be due to aggravating a nerve or if it is actually clearing blockages.
I got back to using my aneros a few weeks ago after more than a year off. It's been more pleasurable than before, although I think the furthest I've ever come is feeling a fleeting P-wave. Years ago I think I experienced "terror at the gates", kind of an anxiety attack just as things were starting to get good. I didn't have that happen again but haven't gotten that close to a good response either.
Well, in the past few weeks I've noticed that when things are starting to feel good, a few times I got a jolt down one leg, usually the right one, or I can feel something strange behind my knee or in the sole of my foot. I was awoken one night by a jolt in the spleen area, and just now I had the strongest one yet in the area of my left kidney, like a zap of electricity, a little explosion and spasm. It is painful, not pleasurable, but only lasts a split second and I can't feel it at all afterward. This is after about 90 mins with the aneros in. I'm wondering if using the aneros is aggravating a nerve, or if these jolts are clearing blockages. Any insight would be appreciated.

The jolts sound familiar to me.. You probably just have some extra energy contained in your body which was not completely released during your last session.. The jolts and twitches after a session haven't felt painful for me but uncomfortable and a bit scary.. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about though.. btw are these jolts related to muscle cramps or muscle tension of any kind? If yes, then I would recommend even more stretching and getting more relaxed during your sessions.. Take care!

I agree with 'Kev', I don't think there is anything to worry about here. It sounds like these are just some random nerves firing off releasing some pent up energy. If your Aneros was directly causing this I think it would be more local, more continuous and the pain more enduring.
It could also be your body re-acclimatizing to Aneros use, like 'Kev' said try doing some stretching before a session and redevelop your relaxation techniques. You may also want to make sure your body is properly hydrated with electrolytes a couple of hours before starting a session, this will help smooth the way for healthy nerve transmission signals.

There's a lot of bunkum about hydration and electrolytes about. If your urine is no darker than a straw colour and you're not feeling thirsty, you're getting enough hydration. Most western diets contain more than enough sodium too, which is the major "electrolyte" in energy drinks, which in turn are little different chemically to full sugar cola with a couple of teaspoons of salt stirred in.

The jolts are very localized and not muscular. There is no cramp, and after that split second, there are no lingering sensations. Except for the one night when I woke up, they've occurred while I had the aneros in.
I haven't been going through relaxation techniques... have no goal to achieve anything with this now. I just haven't been "getting any" for a while and thought I'd add it into my routine when I can remember, so I just pop it in and watch a movie in bed without giving it any more thought.
