As some of you know, I had a triple-spinal fusion early December. The doctor said last Wednesday after three weeks, that I can resume "non-vigorous" sex. I was wondering if I could resume some prostate massage, but I cannot have the wild, hip-thrusting gyrations that I used to have in my sessions; I'm hoping to develope/redeveloped the anal muscles and get them back in shape. I know that I've lost a great deal of nerves in the anus/rectum; it first started not long after I first started posting. It started as a cold spot deep in my rectum, near the prostate, and it slowly spread. After some really good sessions, I'd get this odd, "wild hair in ass" tingle in the middle of my anus, which made me wonder of wire worms or something. They also eventually went away when I lost more sensation in my anal area.
I'm wondering just how much rejuvination I'll get, and how soon I can start having more theraputic sessions, and not pleasure sessions.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Is slimjm still out there? I'd really like to hear from him, seeing he's a Dr who's had experience with these devices. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the regard you give to my comments, Badger. Sorry you've had the extent of surgery you had. If you're speaking of sensory loss before your surgery in the perineal area, I'm assuming due to nerve damage, it will be left to what degree of recovery you experience as to how much sensation you may regain in the region. I don't know however that that should affect the sensation to the nerves overlying the prostate that the Aneros makes contact with and stimulates.
I would think you could resume sessions, just as anyone who'd had some hiatus of weeks or more with no expected loss in your progress to date, but just try not to have vigorous body movements with your sessions. I've had a minidiscectomy at my L-5 S-1 level but the sensory problems I had preoperatively were down my leg and not involving the perineal or genital areas gratefully and thank the Lord I've had no further problems since except for the usual lumbar disc degeneration discomfort and loss of range of motion many of us begin to have in mid-life years.
Try a gentle ride with one of your more "comfortable" massagers, assuming you might have such a selection or preference and see what you experience. This is just too valuable, again especially to us mid-aged guys as we start to have prostate and erectile issues, to give up, huh?
Thanks for responding, slimjm. I haven't heard from you nor seen you here in quite some time.
I have noticed that a fair amount of sensations have returned as soon as I woke up from surgery; some tingling came back, but seems to be slowly going away.
My preoperative sensory loss I believe, even went into the rectum and around the anus some; I started having more and more trouble inserting my enema nozzle for a light douching. And it was getting harder to stifle a BM, even if just to make it to the bathroom. That all seems to be better, or getting better a little at a time.
My fear of resuming sessions is partly due to my ability to reach my anus; sometimes, my hip sockets seem to have shooting pains coming from them after I wipe. I can barely reach it going between my legs when I wipe now (I used to come from the side; I don't think I can even dare try going that way).
The rest of my reticence emanates from the predisposition that I tend to be one of those violent thruster/shakers when it takes off; a week or so ago, I had an out-of-the-blue single shake, and it was nearly impossible to supress. I managed to stop any others from coming, but the first one really caught me off-guard.
None of my Aneros devices gave me a gentle ride, and as I said before, I don't know if I can insert one anyway at this time. I have my good days and my bad; usually the bad immediately follows a good when I forget I have a fusion and stretch to reach something high and out of the way or bend over something and twist just a little.
Do you have any suggestions for sexual positions for us to try? My wife is reticent to try anything for fear it will be too vigorous for me, and she always seems to be too tired to do most of the work herself.
Have
you discussed this with your Doctor?
I had a total hip replacement 5
years ago and had a complete recovery and have been able to function with out
any awareness of the implant until I started to use the Aneros.
During one of the wild rides I felt some discomfort in the area of
the hip replacement similar to the discomfort of the PT I did for
recovery. I suspect that I did some moves the broke down some more
scar tissue in the surgical site that had not used or stretched until
I was in the ecstasy of a S-O. The discomfort was transitory and did
not last other than an awareness in the hip area that it had been
worked.
The reason I bring this up that at even at this point of
your time of healing The tissue and bone are still not 100%. Have you been
cleared for resuming sex with a partner?
Take care remember you have
the rest of your life to enjoy.
Hey, Badger, good to see you and I'm hopeful that your surgery was successful going forward.
Maybe this is an opportunity to begin a new technique in Aneros use. For quite a while I believed that without the leg shaking, vigorous activity that some exhibit during "Super O's" that I was not, in fact, having them.
WRONG. I was most certainly experiencing the ultimate Aneros pleasure, but in a different fashion. The current thread on Aneros videos has one that is much more typical of my "super O" and perhaps may serve you well, too. Here is the xtube link if you haven't seen it. Great video and very instructive for newbies. (Warning...naked man!!! HA) So, try a Helix or Syn if you don't have one, or maybe Eupho, and just take it real cool...try to experience all the pleasure without the strain of an FBO with thunder and lightning.
I'm just sayin'....
OK, good luck, and let us know.
Cockadoodle
sskerr;
They did OK non-vigorous sex, but no clarification was given. Wife and I tried a 69 last week, but my back and hip area ached for several days afterward, so I'm not sure what to do.
Badger, that aching may be part of the recovery process.
Is gentle controlled sex possible? Can the effect of the Aneros be scaled back? It is a bit worrying if it can't be.
If you have a position which is comfortable (e.g on your back) it may be possible to base activity around that.
I jarred my hip once, most of the time it was okay but for some activities it took months for the discomfort to go away.
The older we are the longer it takes
After my L5-S1 partial discectomy some years back I had intense pain for about 6 weeks in the distribution of the nerve that had been pinched for a prolonged time before surgery, they think due to the nerve "waking up" after all that time being compressed. It eventually went away though. I hope Badger it's only something like that for you and that with time and further recovery it will heal.
Yeah, the pain is an ache that goes around the hip and down to the top of the kneecap, like it did when it was getting pinched off; it gets worse the longer I stand in one place. If I sit down and get the load off or lay down, it goes away, kind of like a reset button.
They said I must not lay on my stomach at all, which was the way I used to sleep; on my side or back, I wake up every hour or two with a severe case of cotton mouth, which I have to loosen my tongue from the roof of my mouth with water, which makes me have to pee, and the whole cycle starts all over when I fall back to sleep. My personal best has been about 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Well, not trying to lesson your discomfort, but I suffer from most of the problems you mention in your second paragraph.
